- Most people wont take their GLB offroad, but we put it through it's paces for those who want to learn how capable the GLB is.
Engine Adventures strives to explore and test the AWD and 4WD systems of all crossovers, SUVs, and pickup trucks. To do this we test vehicles in real world environments in a way that allows viewers to cross shop and explore any vehicle they may be interested in learning about.

Review is very beautifully done and it shows how much effort you put. Thanks for such detailed review.
Thanks for watching!
Great review!! Good luck for the future uploads.
Thanks for the support!
To those saying that the adults that drive these will never take these off-road, keep in mind some will have teenagers that will definitely test these limits 😂
I know I tested my parents’ vehicles all the time..💪
Haha very true!
Lol 100% best times I’ve had in a car as a teen was when I took my parents’ 4Runner to climb snow/sand dunes. Parents themselves never once took the car off pavement.
😂😂😂
Those modes were programmed on specific pavement/terrain. It's like using "Rock Crawl" mode on Nurburgring.
I found your channel by chance, and wow, I love your unique channel and the way you review these 4x4’s! Very useful! CZcams algo really needs to bump up your videos. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the support!
Super Super video.
Thanks for watching!
With tires more suitable for all terrain, I believe that the off-road performance is much better.
Having the right tires always makes a big difference. In my case the test is more for how the vehicle manages and transfers power than the traction of the tires. What I'm looking for is having all 4 tires spinning at the same speed. If all four tires are spinning together then tires are the main factor, but if it's not able to transfer power to the wheels with traction and the two tires without traction are spinning while the tires with traction aren't then that's a power transfer issue, not a tire issue.
Good video. Glad we know the capabilities of GLB, amazing interior but need to put more $$$ for off road. In reality, ppl just got this to replace their sedan with more tractions in winter or snow. that is it... off road is not in their head.
Good input, thanks for commenting!
I must confess that's the reason I got it, I don't really go off road even though I live near farm lands. The extra traction needed for up hill and downhill
Good review. What exactly is the adjustable damping? It’s an extra option in Norway, not sure what it is.
Adjusts the tuning of the shocks which equates to a smoother or stiffer ride. I believe that Mercedes adjusts the valving of the shocks (dampers) individually at each wheel. This helps give a smooth, comfortable ride or a stiff sporty ride depending on the setting, with some variations in between. It also makes changes for off-road settings if the vehicle has those drive modes.
Why did the engine stall, shut down? Was it because it was becoming overheated at that point? Just like a built-in safety thing?
Non the of temperatures looked too high, normally it would give a warning before shutting off if the temps are too high. I'm thinking the dual clutch transmission dropped the clutch too fast and stalled, just like can happen with a manual. A similar thing happened when I was driving the Tundra TRD Pro in the sand dunes, for that one I think the torque converter bypass didn't unlock soon enough and when the tires stopped moving the engine stalled.
A coworker of mine used to have a Toyota Venza that would randomly shut off when the awd system detected excessive slip. Was a real pain in the rear headed down muddy trails and having to stop and restart. Wonder if that’s what’s happening here as well?
Could have been. I try to test the vehicles to their limits, but I also have to avoid damage as I don't own these vehicles. I would have made another attempt to see if I could get some more information out of it, but I didn't want to risk damaging the vehicle. This hill is getting too torn up, and I now carry a pick-axe with me whenever I'm testing crossovers just in case I need to do some road work.
First time I see someone park a car like that
Really? that is the only way to park a car! Especially with older vehicles that aren't as stiff, makes it so the doors wont open.
Another excellent review! When the engine stalled did you have the transmission in D? I had the impression that in offroad mode the transmission is tuned very well.
Thanks! Yes it was in D. It performed much better in offroad mode than any of the other modes. The AMG versions that don't have the offroad mode weren't able to make the steep climb, while this one could.
the color? ist this nightdark?
Yes, the monroney says Night Black
Too bad us in Singapore where we would cry to buy even a prius here. The price of the Prius in Singapore is like 120k usd!!!!!!
That's crazy!
Nice Review 👍
Thanks for watching!
volvo cx60 please
Haven't had a Volvo yet, but I definitely want to get one!
Dual Clutch ruining configuration
It's great on road, but dual clutch isn't a good option for off pavement. Thanks for watching and commenting!
The GLB will climb that hill in off road. It just needs a driver. 😃
I agree to the first sentence as noted in the video at 5:03. It's hard to tell in the video but there is a hole that is about 2 feet deep right off of the driver's side front wheel and you can see that when it shuts off it starts to slide sideways into that hole. If it were my vehicle I would have driven the hill again and as long as it didn't shut off on me it would have been a fairly easy climb up the easy line. There is no way the GLB would make the hard line though. I might throw in a short climb of me fixing the deepest holes on this which I did in preparation for some of the upcoming crossovers. The risk of damage is getting too high for lower clearance vehicles, so I fixed up the hill a little bit. It's still much harder than when I first started these tests, but some of the risk has been mitigated.
@@EngineAdventures i think this nice car dont have it. Or ?
@@alllivesmatterpeace5818 it was a media car that I only had for a week.
@@EngineAdventures Okay, thanks for the quick reply. 👍🏻
these are too finicky for off road, transmission overheats....they just can't take it
If it only happens once in a while it's fine, but for consistent off road trips I'd definitely go with something else.
My subaru which is way cheaper can preform much better! However I like this Mercedes!
Which Subaru? Check out my 2018 Outback video for a decent comparison between this and a Subaru.
Not real video i kontroled al fs und screan dis ist bull shit
Typical modern piece of junk from “the worst or nothing”. I had a loaner with 2500 miles that’s already falling apart..They actually used to make cars that would easily compete with Lexus. You can find a few decent models prior to 2015 though. Anything newer is a pile of crap..
Damn!!!! Cringe moment!!!!
Haha which part?
@@EngineAdventures oh I thought you got it stuck lol
@@EngineAdventures I wrote that comment just a minute in the video
I see, I didn't rewatch this one, but I have had some close calls with others sliding sideways and such on the steep climb.
I’m trading my evoque in for this… I hope in don’t regret it
I haven't tested anything from Land Rover yet, but I do like the GLB.
