Blackpink suddenly stops being “nervous”, “rusty”, “overworked” and “tired” when it’s time to do a solo or when it’s time to perform in front of their LA friends… then they suddenly have something to prove. It’s insulting to their fans especially their Korean fanbase who seem to always get the leftovers of their passion.

@@vaannii1212 Faxx I think they’ll do better solo tbh. I like the member’s solo performances rather than the group’s because you can see their passion and their talent shines even more. They each slayed their solo projects in the past too. You can see more of Lisa’s dancing, Jennie’s rapping and stage presence, Jisoo’s acting and Rosè’s musicality and writing skills. They’re also good as a group but I just think they’re better solo.

Though jisoo might not be exceptionally good but what I realised after their concerts is that she is the only member who didn't lipsync in any of their performance. She sang all the songs live.

I always found it funny that Lisa was being such a strict mentor on a reality show when she should be mentoring her own group to perform their choreography properly. The girls (esp Lisa)would also always mention how they were perfectionists and how excited they were for this tour, like practice what you preach.
Executing your choreography properly, not lipsyncing for 80% of the concert (so obviously too) is the bare minimum.Thier "improved performances" at other shows are still super underwhelming and they lipsync a lot. It makes it worse since they are the biggest gg in kpop, they should live up to it.
Edit: Not to mention that this is at their OWN concert where their OWN fans have spent their hard-earned money (we're talking like $300- $1000+, not cheap) to go support them, it's disrespectful and disappointing esp since, like any artist, they wouldn't be anything without their fans. I've never seen anything like this before with a kpop group and it's baffling.
She also mentioned in the same reality show during the I'm Not Your Girl practice that usually groups don't have alot of time to practice with each other especially with solo activities. With their work as model-influencers I don't think they get to practice together and it's basically YG's fault for turning them into models not idols
@@seonsunnysunshine Stop blaming YG for everything even if they treat it more like models than artists, the responsibility of each one of the girls is to improve their skills since after all they are still idols, the biggest responsibility in this case lies with the girls sincerely I don't see that during these last 2 and a half years blackpink had been too busy they were rarely seen in public compared to other groups like twice who had 6 comebacks in 2021, nayeon had her solo this year and if it wasn't already too much this year they had their world tour, that is an example of a group and an artist who have worked too much and who already deserve a rest

I think what irks people the most is that in their rolling stone interview they claimed to be very excited and prepared for the tour but that excitement and passion is not shown in their concerts

tbh, their performances made me realize how important passion and dedication for something you do is. years in industry won't matter if you're passionate about the thing you're doing. big bang last had a concert in 2017 if I'm not wrong. they were an 11 year old group at that time and their passion to perform showed in their performances. BTS did a free concert in busan. they were 9 years into their career when they performed. the passion and dedication was still there. girls generation are 15 years into their career. they came back after 5 years but the passion to perform made their performances more enjoyable. svt are on a tour right now. they still have the same energy and passion as their rookie days and they're 7 years into their career. even the rookie groups like new jeans, le sserafim, nmixx etc. are performers and it shows in their performances. groups like skz, itzy, txt, svt, enha are also on world tours, but their dedication and passion to perform shows...

Speaking as a dancer (albeit a social/partner dancer, not a performer), the composition/attitude of your audience gives you energy, energy gives you confidence, confidence gives you charisma. Based on her behavior during interviews, Jennie seems like an introvert who relies mainly on charisma for her performances - that's a recipe for extremely poor quality control. In comparison, Lisa seems to have a pretty consistent baseline level of confidence, which translates to more consistent performances.
the thing about Rosé that bothers me is that she used to have SUCH a good stage presence, but this tour I was so shocked to see her being the one that seems to lack passion the most. Rosé out of all of them is the most interested in music and singing and I didn’t expect to see her look so lifeless on stage…
Rosé used to be one of my favourite performers in kpop because she used to look so fierce and into it, but nowadays she looks so emotionless and blank… she’s the worst imo now, Jisoo is at least trying

I wish I could remember who said this but someone was talking about the only times Blackpink tries and they brought up when their LA friends are watching and now that the fancam for LA came out, it’s true. They did so much better during their LA performance and it was a little upsetting because every concert you should try your best because your fans paid their hard earned money to come and watch you perform and you act like you don’t care

I've always said the reason why jisoo isn't promoted or has a solo is because she literally just doesn't want it, she never did.
She always wanted more, she always looked super sad during encore stages of song she barely has any lines in. When she gets more lines and center time she always spaces and looks excited. She also wanted more acting roles but YG just blew her off, never promoted her and just didn’t care. She didn’t even wanted to be an idol but still put in effort even tho she’s not naturally talented.

yes!. I always remember when 2ne1 performed in a music show, when Bom hiatus after "scandal", CL expressed her anger on Come Back Home, 2ne1 members looks upset and CL changed her rap lyric to show Bom "that no matter happen they will be together as 2ne1", which is crazy.

The biggest problem with blackpink is their inconsistency. They have great potential and they are all so talented no matter what the haters say . But it feels like they lost their passion towards preforming as a group a lot of their performances during this tour were rushed and lacking (not all of them cuz I was at the Newark concert yesterday and I had the best time of my life they where all sooooo AMAZING) but that doesn’t justify all the horrible performances they gave this year .
is making a few mistakes makes their performance terrible? did you watch their Soul performance? I guarantee it wasn't terrible, it was so good actually. They made mistakes, yes. But that mistakes didn't overshadow the awesome parts of the show. Y'all so cruel.

I'm not the biggest fan of BP these days, and I've never been to one of their concerts, but one thing I want to say from reading a lot of other reviews of BP concerts, is that everyone says that Jisoo stands out a lot in person. That her beauty is incredible in person and that her fan interaction is amazing. Maybe she's not the best performer or singer or dancer, but people leave those concerts with a very strong and positive impression of her. She's gotten the best responses in reviews of their concerts I've read.
This only shows how shallow those people are and nothing else, most positive impression because of a pretty face in person, holy fuck, isn't it just hitting the lowest low ? :D

I saw them live and Jisoo really surprised me, she and Rosé carried the group vocally - 90% of their vocals were live and so much powerful, you could no longer hear the backtrack. I also think she is the most giving to the audience, in terms of attention and being always present despite not being the best performer overall. I'm a Jennie bias but Jisoo feels like the connecting glue of the band - she's always there, always warmly smiling - Idk she won me over :)

I have LOTS of things to say but honestly im just gonna say its so frustrating to see how lost the potential is on them. The fans keep saying people are microassessing them when their lack of enthusiasm and mistakes are so blatantly obvious. As a group of only 4 girls at their seniority they should know how they would look performing as they do, and how to fix mistakes, given the time they have between schedules. They were well on their way of being powerhouse performers but they ended up struggling to stay synchronized and their fans clawing their way to prove those girls are even /descent/ performers.

Exactlyyy. I actually found that when they all started to diverge and promote more as individuals, the group dynamic was soo off. It hasn't been the same since. It's like they are still best friends, and you see that on stage, I don't deny it, but the group synergy and teamwork has declined so much. I really love them but I feel like after exploring so many options, they have lost that passion for being idols. YG making them perform the same 2 8 songs albums songs for 5+ years doesn't help either. But it's their job. Clearly they are done with it.

1. Lisa: she's always so consistent. She makes it obvious she enjoys performing and never lacks, she's a rapper and dancer and it shows.
2. Jisoo: I don't care what yall say, she might be a mediocre performer but she still has a lot of energy and always has a smile on her face. She interacts with the audience a lot and I believe a performer should do that. She's consistent with her energy.
3. rosé: she barely smiles and she doesn't really interact with the audience. she's always very consistent and sounds lovely live! also not a fan of her dancing idk why.
4. jennie: she's not consistent at all. I don't like that. sometimes she sounds great when singing, most of the time she sounds like she's semi yelling. love her rapping. her dance and energy is inconsistent.

Seeing Jennie ask fans to put down their phones kind of reminds me of Mitski doing the same thing. Mitski explained that she wants to connect with people and it feels awkward when everyone's on their phones all the time (the backlash she received was horrible but that's for another time).
Should Jennie be inconsistent? Definitely not, I think it's indicative of her passion/effort to be like this. However, I don't blame her for wanting people to put down their phones. K-Pop idols are so intensely commodified, I can only imagine how it must feel to have hundreds of people with their phones on you.

Their performance alone should be energetic enough to get people hyped, people should be so engrossed into your performance that they forget they're filming. Every performer will say things like "put your hands up!" or "jump jump!", that's directing the experience and giving your energy to the crowd. But Jennie's tone was a bit too scolding, even a little condescending. If you're going to tell fans to put their phones down, you don't scold them like they're doing something wrong. What the hell is wrong wanting to save a memory that you paid a lot of money for? If a performer is confident in their quality of their performance, they wouldn't mind people filming, because clips like that go viral and get a lot of attention/praise. Fancam clips are beneficial for the performer, provided the performance is actually good.

Jisoo's voice is the most stable of the 4 and sounds the same as the studio. her solo performance is one of the best and the energy she is putting out is amazing (people have ranked as the #1 out of the 4, ). it is very sad the comparison you are making and saying that she does not care about music when she has played and learned to play instruments (like for pink venom), even if she feels bad she will try to do everything possible to give her all on live, is the one that has the most credit as a songwritter in the discography. she has made covers of different genres and has done all of them very well. Watching any of them dance next too Lisa really shows the gap. It really doesn't help that their coreography isn't always suited for their various skill levels. In other groups, when one of the weaker dancers are at the center, they won't give them the hardest coreography. I know it's difficult since they are in a small group, but at times it doesn't feel like the songs or coreographies are tailored to them. It's frustrating, since I really liked BlackPink when they started out, and now I've turned into someone who pretty much just follows Lisa.

I totally agree with all of these. Two things I'd add is that I wish that Lisa would sing more andd I actually think that Jisoo has good energy and presence however, I agree with everything else you said.

From videos I can see that jisoo is putting the most effort in the performances, Lisa second. Lisa is really skilled and does everything perfectly, but she feels more like a smiling robot… I can’t see the passion on stage. Jisoo at least tries to engage with the audience and have fun. Watch bigbang’s concert and you’ll what a concert SHOULD be like. Getting the audience hyped up, full of adlibs and randomness, full of energy, having fun on stage… you can see the passion. Like they’re so happy so be on stage. That’s what we call as stage presence.

I went to a concert in Berlin 2018 and it was okay… back then i already paid like 180 Euros, for 2 Hours in which they spoke like 45 min about themself to only perform like 10 Songs? However they danced at least decently. It did feel like a very expensive fanmeeting instead of a concert tbh, and most blinks are happy to just see them. But it is a concert Not a fanmeeting. So it upsets me when these videos go around because you can’t judge someone’s entire performance and talent based on clips you see on CZcams or TikTok. i don't understand why blinks don't want to accept the criticizm they have recived. i'm blink myself, and i'm in kpop for four years. it's blackpink who got me in kpop, and when i see what's going on with them, i feel embarrassed. they main issue could be not practicing enough. i think they lost so much passion, they don't even want to improve. looking at other 3rd gen groups like; nct, bts, exo, twice, red velvet etc. they have stage presence, you can see their passion. they do their best, but blackpink fell off. it's kind of sad to see :(
that's insane how their performances are mostly seen as good just cause they didn't make any mistakes, like the bar is in hell at this point if they're getting praised for getting their moves right, nothing is separating them from other ggs or solidifying the "biggest gg in the world" title. I meaaan, perform as if it's your last day of being an idol, perform as if you'll never visit that country again cause pple are flying in all over the world and paying to experience that energy. I'm surprised about what you said regarding Jisoo's signing. Like dude, out of all other quality live singing videos of Jisoo literally eating discs, you chose to focus on _that one_ performance clip to add here. If anything, she is the #1 stable voice from all the girls when they performe. Her voice is unique. Whether or not YOU like the sound of it is a different story. I don't deny the other stuff you said, but in terms of singing you're completely wrong, and in terms of dancing, she's made lots of improvement.

Coming back after thinking about how other girl group members went to their opening tour Korean concerts and saw…. THAT. I feel so embarrassed for the dancers and band that put their all into backing up such a lazy group. I never thought in a million years that BlackPink doing the bare minimum would be considered “improvement”. They’ve fallen so hard and no one can argue against the fact that it’s because they don’t release often to perform often enough. It’s their fault & YG’s fault at this point cause the girls themselves made it clear multiple time they now choose when they’re ready for a comeback and participate in creating it so therefore I blame everyone at this point. BlackPink’s music is on the road to being forgettable I fear. Bound to become songs stuck in their times.

I do not understand Jisoo. She is the only member who was singing live on stage, unlike the rest of the members. I know that she made some mistakes, as did the rest. She is also a person who is passionate about music, and she is the only one of the members who participated in writing two songs from the album, and in many of the songs Jisoo performs By putting Korean clips of the song, it makes her feel better. Jisoo is the member who tries harder, like at Coachella when she had a back injury, but even so, she gave us an amazing show.
She lipsynced her whole solo stage and already has least lines in bp songs
If she couldn't sing those less lines too then she shouldn't have debuted at all!!

I agree with your ranking. And Rosé needs to really work with her expressions. Expressions makes a bad performance 100 times better. Look at Jennie, she is inconsistent & makes quite a lot of mistakes, but her expressions are always good which overshadows her mistakes sometimes.

Like honestly this concert was such a huge disappointment and made a bad impression on people, me as a blink would love to go to there concert but can't afford but even if I could we wouldn't know if they'll give us good or bad performance, like?
