2021 Ford Ranger Tremor Review! The Ford Ranger Tremor is a neat off-road version of the new Ford Ranger, but it's not quite the Ford Ranger we want. The Ranger Tremor is a cool truck, but it's no Raptor -- but I'll still show you all the quirks and features. I'm also going to drive the Ford Ranger Tremor and review the driving experience.

The Ranger Raptor is over here in Australia. It’s a cool looking truck. One reason it isn’t really in the US is cause it isn’t good at towing like you Americans use trucks for.

My biggest problem with the midsized truck market is the price. Buying a well equipped half ton for nearly the same price makes more sense to me.
No one with sense buys a pick-up truck
@@PointNemo9
Except those who need a pick up truck.
bought a ranger last year and honestly if i were to spend to the same amount of money on a full size it would have quite a few less options
It depends, a volume leading crew cab 4x4 f150 xlt is typically $50-60k here in Canada, and the Ranger xlt is about 40-45k. If I didnt need the towing of a full size truck i would consider a ranger.
@Red That's mostly what I use my pickup for. I pull a small utility trailer sometimes and find the bed to be quite handy. Mostly....I like a pickup for our second vehicle. I don't care what Business Insider or anybody else says or thinks.
I was impressed with this engine in a rental Mustang I had. A lot quicker than expected and makes cool turbo noises.
That one makes almost 400lbft of torque, I don't know why ppl discount it so quickly, it's pretty much the only way you can get a front engine, rwd, manual, turbo inline 4 cyl coupe in the us, great car at a surprising price...

Can we talk about the fact that the ranger's engine bay isn't completely covered by a plastic engine cover. That's refreshing for a new car
Well it’s probably more of a cost saving measure, but I agree that it’s nice to see the actual engine.
Can we talk about Doug posting a new video on Sunday? Nothing is sacred anymore.
My 2021 Nissan Altima doesn't have a plastic engine cover either, and I kinda like it that way. I always like seeing the innards of machines.
@@Suiax yea it saves them 51 cents.
@@grahamstefaan You say that as if I'm complaining.
I wish for the off-road vehicles you would do more with some actual "off-roading" vs just driving around town. Like start with the around town and then go to a spot to do at least a little off-roading so you could talk about comfort and capability in the scenario that people would be looking for an off-road vehicle.
Truck King video had this hanging pretty well with a ZR2. I like the tremor a lot.
10:14 they have the Ranger Raptor in Australia, South East Asia, Europe, Africa for some years now. The Australian have it first, then SEA, Europe and other countries. Most of the ranger raptor are manufactured in Thailand and Vietnam(2021).
Funfact: the Ranger Raptor have the coil spring watt linkage rear suspension way before the new 2021 f150 raptor.
We also have the Ranger raptor here in south america! They are very cool looking
I was wondering why he said "ford wont make a raptor on this ranger model" almost all countries has the ranger raptor... even richard hammond on drivetribe owned one(ford sponsored?)
Unforantatly it comes with a 4 cylinder diesel which is so slow and the 10-speed really does hunt for gears when paired to the diesel. But hey it looks big and tough so tradies still buy it in droves to show up the work site with the biggest dick.
@@YouNeedToCalmDown76 4 cylinder is enough. Diesel, fine. It is depend on how you use it. For me, the whole package is just right. They did fix my 2020my oil leak issues for free so I'm not complain.

I drove the new Ranger at a special event 2 1/2 years ago. I drove my 2018 Tacoma pro to the event so I had a back to back comparison. I can tell you this- the Ford was better in every aspect - power, transmission, interior, turning radius, and seating position. The only advantage to the Tacoma was the Fox suspension and its ride and maybe the looks by a smidge. I had the Tacoma for 3 months and 2300 miles and traded it in on a 2018 F150 Raptor at a $12000 loss. I f'd up and I admit it.
Can't believe the US doesn't get the Ranger Raptor ... the whole Ranger line is Australian-developed, so the Raptor is a beast offroad. Looks nice and is comfy too. Can't believe Doug didn't know there was a Ranger Raptor ...

Yes, I'm a Ranger owner. No, I don't have a Tremor.
Plus F150 raptors aren't really good off road, its just a bunch of trophy truck imitation gimmicks the "side steps" on the tremor are also rock sliders to protect the body from rocks and other objects.

Gotta keep engagement up these days.
Right on, Doug. The Ranger does indeed have the best power train of any midsize truck.
Doug moves so much when he talks I swear he almost fell over the hood of the truck in the intro 🤣
Think you're missing the key feature of the Tremor. You get more off road capability than the regular Ranger, but you're not sacrificing any payload capability unlike the TRD Pro and ZR2. So it's the working man's off road truck
Fun fact: There is a Ranger Raptor in Europe
With a 200 horsepower diesel that does 0-60 in like 9 seconds 😔
@@TristanSilverwood yeah super slow🤣but it looks really good, most people buying them aren't big on performance
Another fun fact, there are Range Raptors being sold everywhere outside the US (same thing with the Hilux). Poor Americans, can't have nice trucks because they're scared of Diesels (Yeah, semi trucks have diesel engines because what would they have instead, I'm talking about passenger vehicles and light trucks that run on gas and get appalling MPG figures and barely any torque compared to the Diesel variants sold outside North America).
also in LATAM. at least in Panamá Ford offers the Ranger Raptor with a base price of 59K.

@Mack James90 no its not lol, ford makes a ford ranger raptor in basically all other markets except the US
@Mack James90 no it is a completely different vehicle from the tremor, it has much more serious off road modifications and looks much more like the f150 raptor
Exactly, Ranger Raptor launched since 2018 in Australia, with a ridiculous 4 cyl diesel engine that does not meet anyone's needs or wishes.
@Mack James90 No, it's a legit baked in Raptor, with Fox adjustable shocks, body and suspension upgrades. The Tremor is a warmed over regular Ranger.
@@adbt20 That will change in the next gen coming up, it will have much more better power options.
Yet Ford doesn’t want to bring the ranger raptor because they want us to pay $98k for a dealer markup Ford Raptor
It's weird because the Ranger Raptor is sold here, in Europe (and I've seen one).I say it's weird because you won't really find as many off-roaders as in the US and yet, they sell it here, even though small hatchbacks like the Corsa and the 208 are all over the European roads
I think its because of the American obbsession with big engines. Ranger Raptor has a 2.0 engine. in a country where family haulers have 3.5 engines it might hurt the brands image in the eyes of "VEE EEEEEIIGGGHHHTTTT" people.
Even doug who is fairly open minded says it weird that it doesn't have a v6 despite the fact that engine in the video is bigger than the ranger raptors and he likes it. I can imagine american people looking at the 2.0 on a paper and don't even look at the truck.
@@OKANGUVEN99 no. It's because they don't want to cannibalize real raptor sales. Demand is greater than supply for real raptors, and the profit margins are bigger on that. A ranger raptor would not only cut into those (and ford isn't going to choose to make less money), but it would also need to get a different engine, because a 2L diesel in a performance truck isn't going to cut it here. It would break the product line.
Ford doesn’t want you to pay a dealer markup the dealer does. Ford doesn’t care what you pay for it they already got their money from the dealer.
@@khakiswag _Ford_ makes a bigger profit on the raptor. I didn't say anything about a dealer markup.
The difference between cost and the price the dealer pays is virtually guaranteed to be bigger on the full size raptor. As long as demand outpaces supply, it would be dumb for Ford to sell product that would compete in the same market segment. They will only sell it once they need to attract new buyers.
Ford said this, not me. If you disagree with their market research people, find their address and email them.
Ever since your ST video came out, I have had many dealers hit me up trying to buy mine, thank you, the power of Doug
I remember my mom had a 97 ranger, 4 cylinder. Merging onto the highway she would have to scoot forward in the seat to get the pedal down far enough to get all she could out of the tiny engine. Love the new tremor packages, and wish this would have been available on the f150 when I bought mine. IMO this is a perfect softroader, allows you to add upgrades like lights with the built in switches, comes with good tires and tow hooks, skid plates and awesome shocks etc that you need to hit light trails.
Also not really sure why he keeps saying its not nearly as good as a TRD pro? There isnt really anything that the TRD does better other than a bit more suspension travel and a bigger following. The ranger tremor is likely just as good, and the powertrain is far better, in addition to having the switches which make wiring so much easier.

I just recently got one of these trucks and I honestly do love it so far. I was in the market for an off road truck but I couldn’t really afford/justify the raptor price tag, but I didn’t really have the need for a full size truck and honestly the Ranger is a perfect fit for what I want to do with it, which is go to the desert, camp under the star and be able to haul/tow stuff if I needed. 7,000 towing capacity is pretty decent. I do enjoy it and I just couldn’t afford the raptor at 56,000 dollars. I got mine for 35,000 which was 10K down from sticker. Plus side mine was a lease return so it wasn’t super abused
14:32 That last part was hilarious😂
Let me guess, it's scored a poor handling rating because it's a truck that's handling it's meant for off-roading. I wonder how good a supercars handling would be if you tested it out off-road (the terrain that it's not really built for).
