- In this guide, Ji covers how to install PPF on a Model Y hood. Even though it is a large piece, luckily for us, it’s pretty flat. It helps to have a partner help you peel and lay down, but it’s definitely doable alone. Our kits are made from high quality Avery Dennison Supreme Defense film and are rated for up to 10 years.

You made the complicated process super easy, it is the best precise video about wrap.
Wow! Best vid by far! Well organized way to apply the wrap. Well done.
Very thorough! Makes me feel confident about doing it myself.
This was outstanding. Thank you.
Thank you for your videos! Step by step videos on all their PPF installs. Best customer service as well! 1000% recommend purchasing your PPF with Tesbros!
Appreciate the kind words!
Thank you so much!
I will do mine this weekend and just follow your instructions. Great video. Thank you.
Good luck!
@@tesbros Thank you🤞🏼
Great vid.. Thank You!... Not sure I've that much patience... any recommendations to where i can take my car to be installed by a pro... in SoCal..
Fantastic video! I’m ready to do this!
Let's gooooooo!
@@tesbros My Y is due sometime between Feb 14 and March 31st. Once it finally arrives, I will be ordering. I appreciate that your kits include everything plus a small piece to start with.
you are the best!
excellent, do you have video of how to do rear trunk model y P without removing spoiler
We don't at the moment. We're working on our full body kits now, and I'll see if we can design one that goes around it!
Great tutorial! Wanting to plastidip my logos. Can i do that after Ppf is applied or should I plastidip prior to installing the ppf? Thanks
Really you can do it either way as long as you give it a good day or so in between installs. Remember there is a cutout around the T for this kit, so if you PPF first, you'll have to peel the excess plasti dip around that which may make it slightly more tedious.
Great video! What is tack solution? How is it different from slip solution?
Slip is used to slide the film into place and tack is used to flush the slip out and adhere it into place. This video explains more in detail - How to Mix Slip and Tack Solutions For PPF Installation - TESBROS
czcams.com/video/ppYK7PH9MDI/video.html
What do you recommend if you have the stock carbon fiber rear spoiler? Do we remove it first?
Yes, then clean and apply more 3M adhesive before putting it back over the PPF -
czcams.com/video/12LCPq9Yx80/video.html
I added the required water to the tack solution bottle but needed to put the project on hold for a few months. Any idea if the solution will still work?
Since it's been a few months, I would re-mix the solutions. But if you only had the water in a closed bottle, that should be fine to use still
So we don't need to apply the tack solution to all the areas? Will the slip solution affect the adhesive?
Nope! The slip solution will actually help the adhesive adhere correctly
Great video. I just placed an order from your site. Can you let me know what soap you use for slip solution? Or is it baby shampoo?
I used to use baby shampoo but I’ve gotten used to seventh generation dish soap. It’s clear and odorless so better to work with from my experience.
Also, we actually include a whole canister. It really is a all inclusive kit. We didn’t want to miss anything out.
@@tesbros any you can recommend?
Without any damage, how long does the ppf last? Should I replace the ppf after some years?
It'll last 7-10 years depending on how well it's taken care of
Is it a practice to use heat pistol on the edges?
Yea. We use a SnapOn small torch for edges sometimes.
I didn’t think you could roll ppf film does it last long or does it unroll on the edges
It doesn't unroll on the edges. Totally fine to roll.
Does this give a matte look effect when applied? Also when are the plans on releasing the full body kit?
The full body kit is out and you can select matte for your kit if you want the matte look! tesbros.com/products/diy-full-body-protection-kit-ppf-for-model-y
Can ppf be applied over vinyl wrap Tesla?
Yep!
What happens if you got dirty in there ? Can you lift it up and redo it ??
You can lift it up and get dirt out while installing. If it’s been hours and it’s already adhered, then no. We recommend installing in good lighting so you can catch things like that right away
3M or Xpel. Which one is the best in your opinion?
I prefer working with Xpel out of those two. Can't go wrong with either though.
@@tesbros I’m learning and trying 3M last week, it was so so so hard to remove the film from the paper. With Xpel I feel it’s more easy, it removes itself 😅. And the 3M was a pita, I had to remove it because could handle it. At least, it’s so hard to handle one person. Also noticed 3M is thicker.
Having two people will help with less contamination on the film especially when he was peeling and putting the film back on the table, to me that film is already cross contaminated especially when your perfoming clear film it show on black after the install dry clean. Using pump air pressure spray bottles,
Where do you get your panels?
What do you mean by panels?
@@tesbros your precut pieces. Or do you cut them with your own software?
@@bentleydesign.studio yes, we design and cut them ourselves!
@@tesbros Do you sell them? Or know where I can order some?
Yeah, so we have a DIY front kit (bumper, hood, fenders, headlights/fog lights, and mirrors + squeegees and everything you need to install) for the model 3 and Y available now, and we’re working on the full body kits to be launched this year. Here’s a link to the model y kit - tesbros.com/products/diy-front-protection-kit-ppf-for-model-y - and you can sign up for the free courses here that teach you how to prep and install everything - courses.tesbros.com
