James, if you are reading this:
Your wife did an amazing job with the kill count!
"I'm going to have to press doubt on that one" did she just make a LA Noir reference 🤣 nice 🤙
Do you like Dead Meat? Their early work was a little too new media for my taste. But when Halloween (2018) KILL COUNT came out in '19 I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The video has a clear, crisp look and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the kills a big boost. James and Chelsea have been compared to FoundFlix, but I think Dead Meat has a far more cynical sense of humor.

i always hate when people critique movies as being misogynist when half the time THATS THE WHOLE POINT!!! they're not endorsing misogyny they're showing a bad person and/or morally grey person acting that way!! media literacy is unfortunately very uncommon these days.
Exactly!
Portraying something in any way, shape or form is not the same as endorsing or condoning it
You mean common? Because while true, it's more common than you'd think. Everyone who pointed out that the Barbie movie is feminist trash is right, but only half-right. However, the lefties who praised it failed their own media literacy test. As it turns out, Barbie is a botched attempt at marrying feminist themes with humanist themes.
@@Aidan_He very true, but some could argue his reaction, disgusted/repulsed, could be homophobic. but i don’t agree. as a gay man, women can repulse me, but that doesn’t mean i’m a misogynist.
Same goes with people on CZcams shorts praising Patrick Bateman as some cool alpha male type dude they should inspire to be like. People who clearly never saw the movie and clearly don't know you're not suppose to root for him.
and he's not even a "sigma alpha bro" he's a dweeb who is desperately trying to fit in with society lmaooo
Christian Bale running butt ass naked with a chainsaw (in an apartment nonetheless) is still one of the wildest/funniest things I’ve ever seen in a movie 😂
He definitely killed some people but that’s how you know most of this shit was in his head
that and he drops the chainsaw on his victim who was almost on the bottom floor
The homeless guy is the easiest kill to cover up, especially for a rich stock broker with business connections and a father in his company.
Other than that, he probably started fantasizing about doing it to people who would be harder to cover up, but knew he couldn't pull it off.
Yeah, Al's death is probably one of the most disturbing scenes ever put in a horror film. It's not overtly gory or explicit or anything but...making the man cry about his situation, then murdering him and his dog is just the epitome of cruel.
But atleast they will be happy in death together. Cant leave the dog without the owner.
Yeah, that was pretty fucked up.
The book version is far far far more explicit and cruel too 🙃
@@hairyson94 books usually are and better than the movies. Good to know!

Its my head cannon that Patrick looks like the stereotypical dork but imagines himself as a handsome Christian bale
It honestly makes sense if we are taking Chelsea's first theory, canon... Cause otherwise I genuinely don't understand how ANYONE would assume a person that handsome to be a dork.
But I am 99% sure, that the dork, people confuse Patrick with, is Louis.
I like to think he has overdeveloped abs and otherwise is just skinny.
I mean you go you but honestly it’s probably not canon
That’s a good takeaway, but why would women fan-girl over him throughout the movie

Chelsea's delivery of, "No not bone meat, you hot idiot", was perfect haha.

The business card scene is absolutely perfect, not only is the word acquisitions spelled wrong on all of them. Everyone in the office gives the wrong information about the font, the color, and even the texture. This really shows up in Bateman's scene where he looks at Paul Allen's card because get this, None of what he says about the card is right, this scene shows exactly what the book could never cover, the insane Ego of all these men who don't even understand what to be proud of.
Couldn’t have put it better
The acquisition thing actually proof of the Mandela effect.
Ask anyone over 40 to spell that word. You'll see what I mean.
@@zyourzgrandzmaz that's... No.
@@zyourzgrandzmaz I don't think so? I cannot find any evidence of people spelling it the other way and anything I can find is people saying "No, that is the wrong spelling"
Also I don't think that's the right use of the Mandela effect!
I think I saw a video analyzing the cards and it saying how a lot of the fonts are made up or something.
Something interesting about the book is that unlike the movie he doesn't kill the model from the club and even seems to take pity on her after her boyfriend insults her and he even tells her to leave.
It’s so cool how Patrick says “Murders and Executions mostly” when asked what do u do but he ac does Mergers and Acquisitions
One of the greatest things is Patrick saying Ed Gein said the "head on a stick" quote. It was actually Ed Kemper that said this, but much like his colleagues confuse him for others, he confuses serial killers for one another.
he apparently does this a lot more in the book, but hes so unaware of the pop culture he seemingly loves that he gets a lot of it wrong (idk if its mentioned in the movie, but he repeatedly calls the girl on the les miserables poster eponine - the girl pictured is actually cosette)
Mind Blown. For real. Never knew that.
@@iwakeupandboomimarat He gets quite a lot about pop culture wrong, both in the movie and in the book.
The reason is because Patrick Bateman is a personality void; everything he repeats is just from magazines, interviews, quotations from others, and publications. He has no thoughts or principles of his own, much like his fellow yuppies; the only difference between him and them is that he is partially aware of it. It's one of the reasons he 'kills;' he's so desperate to stand out (despite his repeated statements that he wants to fit in) that he engages in increasingly brutal, horrific murders to find some manner of standing out, but no-one cares; no-one cares because his victims, like his "friends," are all interchangable people. Disposable, faceless meat for the grinder. No-one cares, and no-one knows or cares to know.
Even when he confesses at the end (which is a lot more ambiguous in the book than the movie) no-one believes him, and even if they did, who cares? The people in his life are all coke-snorting bigoted, shallow, vapid caricatures; everything is commodified and sold, people included, so the odds are that even if they believed he was a serial killer, they'd shrug. That's part of the point; no-one knows anything about anything, because no-one cares to know. Just like Patrick's popculture errors go over peoples heads.
and u also prob heard that from a single source
Bateman does remind me a lot of Ted Bundy
Fun fact: during the business card scene, Christian Bale actually managed to make himself start sweating on command during each take, usually at the same point in the scene each time. Seriously I don’t know what that man is but damn.
he would eat chili seeds or something like that, it wasn’t like he had control over his ability to sweat
Cause he’s actually an American psycho in real life lol, a lot of ppl that have worked with him have said he’s very privileged and weird overall as he thinks he’s upper of other people, honestly this is why I think he’s so good acting in this movie and why it’s so easy for him to do weird shit creepy dude

Worked as a printer for 6 months and some of the fascinating things people can accomplish with mashed belached wood pulp pressed into sheets, i.e paper, is simply astonishing. There was a kind of cardstock that felt like velvet, plastic contact with holographic and/or UV fluorescent patterns and customisable embossments. Also have to mention the palette printing machine they put their office door through to show off what they can do.
15:43 my god this direction is genius to me!! This movie is so fascinating but what’s more so is how it’s been received. It’s genuinely terrifying how many men think that Bateman is aspirational, and want to emulate him. Despite him not only being a murderer but so pathetic as to be devastated and jealous over business cards! Just another example in history of the patriarchy taking something criticizing them as a compliment.

One theory that my mother had about this movie was that most of the events, including the murders, but not including the toxic masculinity that was portrayed, were figments of Patrick’s imagination, and that he had sadistic tendencies that never came true. Patrick had wanted to go about with these kills, but he never did because he knew that he would be caught easily by everyone else. My fiancé showed me American Psycho, and it both made me laugh, and feel shock. I'd say it's a must watch.
I won't quickly forget the scenes of the homeless man and his dog, the two escorts being attacked near the end of the sex scene, the complete madness of the end. The coldness of the elite life, the fact that no one eats any of the high end food, people confusing one another for each other, it almost makes you feel like no one is human.
I love the fact that Christian had actual big-time, high-up-there businessmen shaking his hand and saying "Hey, you did so good with that Patrick Bateman, you know I know someone just like him for real?" I don't think Christian realized or asked about what they were talking about or if they were talking about someone who was the psychopathic killer, or just the uncaring, unkind guys that come out of that business world.
They're not just any elites though. They're yuppies, and the whole novel is Brett Easton Ellis's way of saying "I friggin' hate yuppies." It's like how John Milius made his disposition towards hippies known, except longer.

Yeah her love for not just this movie but the entire psychological thriller/horror genre were very apparent throughout the entire video especially with her own theory at the end.

I read this book for a class at uni and loved it and also really enjoyed the movie. My running theory has always been what Chelsea said - nobody in the story cares about anyone but themselves, so they confuse each other for various other people coz they all look the same and they don't actually care. Patrick might have even thought he killed Paul, but in reality he killed someone else, someone he didn't care enough to realize wasn't Paul.
Oh damn I actually like that one
one possibility is that he did kill Paul Allen (the real one), but as shown in the movie by how shallow everyone is in the sense "no one knows no one", that means after a while, no one cared Patrick killed the real Paul and let it go.
Just like how most people never know who Patrick is and always confuse him with someone else, how can we tell Carnes didn't do the same with Paul Allen by mistaking the guy he had seen in London?
@@abrahammesrajecorrea2349 oh yes absolutely another valid theory
idk i feel as if bateman grew so obsessed with being the superior guy in the office that he would know the difference between everyone around him.

I love that this movie also has probably the most star studded cast of any early 2000s movies.
I always figured that when the girl asked him what he does for a living she heard "Mergers and Acquisitions" because of the loud music blurring him saying "murders and executions". They sound too similar for it to be a coincidence.
Have you read the book? Because if I remember correctly she asks him to repeat his answer to the question and he changes his response to exactly that - "mergers and acquisitions", not "murders and executions"... it's a very good adaptation but the book still contains many aspects that are impossible to portray through the cinematic medium.
That's really clever, I never noticed that before 😊
in the book this is exactly what happens
It's also exactly what the business cards say
It probably helped that she wasn't actually listening to him; he's rich, handsome and boring. Conversation is the last thing she wants from him.
Something that i like about the ending speech, is that even though Patrick is a pathetic evil man, i kind of feel bad for him because, as i interpret it, he actually wants to be found out so that he could mature through the consequences, him being constantlly protected by his privileges prevents him from developing his character, as if there is no real Patrick Bateman but he internally wants Patrick Bateman to become real and he just can't and never will be able to.
He's exactly like everyone around him except he knows he's lying, and it drives him insane
i love that about the ending and notice the differences between the two times patrick confesses that he killed people, one was out of utter regret and sadness, and the other (when he was talking to his lawyer in person) seemed more mad and "fucking take me seriously" and it really enforces your interpretation
The killing is his sick way of trying to stand out among other selfish rich people who don't even know each other's names let alone notice murders are going on around them.
Its like he is cursed with being a Ten to One percenter and he is trying to gain some level of identity.
During the confession scene you can seem him be relieved after confessing to his lawyer. Since even if he does get away with all of it he at least knows that someone else knows and that he’s not keeping this giant secret all to him self
I’d love to see Chelsea do more kill counts. Absolutely aced it 💜

Honestly, I laugh my ass off during Paul's death scene every time because Christian unintentionally pulled off the greatest Jim Carrey impression of all time and it takes away any creepiness in that scene for me and makes it feel like a comedy
The dancing was completely improvised by Bale, the director was laughing behind the camera
It is a comedy. It's a satirical dark comedy.
I'm pretty confused with that whole Elizabeth scene. One moment, Patrick is in the bed going at it with Elizabeth, and then he stabs her and Christie runs away. But a few scenes later, she's dead on the bathroom floor? Was Christie running for that long that Elizabeth had enough time to stumble out and die in the bathroom? Did Patrick quickly throw her in there and proceed to chase Christie? Or is it just another "unexplainable mystery" in this movie-- where she somehow teleported to the bathroom or that it's her clone, and that it was all a figment of Patrick's imagination?
The director and author said everything happened for sure
i love this movie so much, and the INK shoutout at 2:47 is giving me LIFE because they're my favorite band

I love the “this is not an exit” in the back of the final scene of the movie. There is no escape of Patrick Bateman’s perception of reality.
Fun fact: "This is not an exit" is the last line of the novel.
“My confession meant nothing”
Chelsea killed it and she actually made me audibly laugh a couple times. and I can see why James and Chelsea are together. They are like two peas in a pod with how excited they are to talk about their favorite genre. Hope we see more chelsea kill counts in the future!
Love the Jared Leto joke
Oh yes she "killed" it.
Get it? Kill count?
i love how nowadays the internet treats bateman as a sigma male, as a figure to copy but he literally respresents some of the worst morals out there.
He's just a meme
@@00_00.1 yeah but some kids actually take him seriously.
@@matherman1111 so true even look at 2:11of the video
It was a slight missed opportunity to not have Chelsea show up with a raincoat covered in blood when she gets to the numbers. Still, one hell of a debut. Amazing episode.
I absolutely love how both Chelsea AND Zoran had their own styles and it was simply Dead Meat all over again. You both should give yourselves pats on the back, because its excellent.
Chelsea and Zoran killed it !!
James would be proud and I’m sure he is
I love how James has mentioned multiple times that this is one of Chelsea's favorites, and I kinda love that she's the one who ultimately did this count... well played you two, well played
I can see why because I think she loves these movies that have hidden details, messages and mysteries like Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Unpopular Opinion (maybe?): As much as I think Zoran did an okay job, Chelsea freaking nailed this Kill Count. It felt much more naturally funny to me and the line deliveries were spot on from her, similar to James.
If we had to choose, I hope to see more Chelsea in future Kill Counts.
@@TheAnthonyG. for me Zoran is my favorite host
@@miketrapper0464 is it cause he’s a guy?
@@Killer-Frost18x no because i love his hosting because he’s so funny his jokes are amazing and he’s the embodiment of a fanbase it’s funny, Chelsea is my second favorite, especially because her voice is so soothing, James is third but he’s still great
I wonder if Patrick ever mistaken anyone else with someone else like everyone in the movie or is he only aware of the people around him.
When Green Goblin walks into frame and scares the audience despite not being the bad guy
And Spiderman wasn't even out yet 🤣
Which is kinda funny how that truned out because the detective entering should be scary to patrick and therefore the audince since most of the movie is his pov
So a unrelated movie unintentionally improved a film that is much older
Basically, the Green Goblin interrogates Batman about the whereabouts of someone pretending to be the Joker. 😂😂😂
"The highest clientele...and Jared Leto." Is so freaking hilarious. Such a great kill count Chelsea, appreciate calling out the difficult nature of these kills.
The best part of American Psycho was when Patrick looked at the camera and said, "I am the American Psycho." Such a good line.
And to say little kids these day look up to him
Internet has brainrotted a ton of kids
My favorite bit about the chainsaw scene is the fact that Patrick’s running through the hall naked, but is apparently too high class to go barefoot and decides to put shoes on 😂
I love how he yells at her after she's already dead too 😂
He was wearing shoes from b4 when he was in bed
Literally my 2nd favourite horror movie, it’s such a dark yet funny film and it’s amazing seeing Chelsea do a kill count on a movie that I love so much( 7:28 also missed opportunity to reference “ITS GRENADINE!” )
What’s your first?
What’s your 1st favorite horror movie?
@@TheNumbersGuy-bm6bt it’s not everyone’s favourite but probably Scream
Where do fish go to work? IN THE OFISH
What's your number 1? :D
22:09 hey it's cannibal joker inside Batman's body
"Now let's see Paul Allens kill count"
Having Chelsea Rebecca host the next Kill Count is a real honor. Her husband is cool enough to allow his wife to give us the latest. But it would be even better if James, Zoran and Chelsea got together in the next video.
If they did it together in Thankskilling 3
Agreed.
Yo cross over event
Avengers lvl threat
Ah so like the Nostalgia Critic and his crossovers. Brilliant!
I think the scene where Bryce tries to snap at that other guy doing drugs, but Patrick holds him back, is pretty telling. That's who Patrick is in real life - he's meek, he tries to avoid conflict, and he couldn't actually hurt anyone. Only in his head can he confidently murder all those people.
According to the author he does murder all those people
I've heard Brett Easton Ellis said that the murders DID actually happen. But, I like how it could work either way. Great story telling
I've heard a bunch of times that the author confirmed that most of the movie was real, including atleast a few of the murders, because they were frustrated that people kept interpreting it as 'EVERYTHING was in his head'
he is literally me
@@minemaster1337Girlie pop. What.
My absolute favourite part of the movie is the fact that its called American Psycho and the American psycho is played by a British man 😂
Scariest thing about this whole movie is that you end it not knowing if you're sane.
Chelsea did a great job with her Kill Count debut!! Also the excitement of James saying 'Yeah!! That's my wife' was probably the cutest thing
"The Man The Myth The Morbius" killed me congrats on the count Chelsea!
I initially misheard it as “Morpheus”
Another one for the count, then.
Chelsea doing the Patrick dance made my morning 🤣🤣🤣
I was singing random songs excepting james and i stopped dead and my tracks and said "WHOAA WHO ARE YOU"
I like to think that Patrick doesn't even have Bale's looks. That's just how he sees himself while the rest of the world sees someone even more mundane.
Great Kill Count!
That’s actually a really good thought
that is just how narcissists see themselves
Just theory wise thinking ,killcount should be 0 since whole story is basically halucination of Patrick Bateman .
@@it_is_what_it_is269 no
@@it_is_what_it_is269 While I’m sure a lot of people would agree, the whole point is that it’s ambiguous. Maybe he did do these things, maybe he didn’t. So it can’t be said for certain either way.
Dang, First time seeing Chelsea do the kill count, this should be fun
Abi
And guess what, it is fun
@@yuuyjaaj6721 this was such a weirdly perfect movie to start with too haha
One of my favorite kill counts we need some more Chelsea! ❤️💀🥩
11:00 best moment we all waited for
Chelsea is really good at this, she reminds me a lot of James with how they similarly present the movies in a comedic while descriptive manner.
Job well done!
Cus James probably wrote the script
She's got natural presenter skills it seems
I disagree, James definitely holds the cake in dead meat presentation, far more natural and comedic, more enjoyable.
@@EddieLove I never said she was better than James, I used James as a comparison for the way they similarly present the movies.
ikr? it felt just like every other kill count, she did a really great job!
Literally screamed with laughter when I heard the “it’s not cranberry” I was hoping so badly that you’d use the clip, thank you 😂
This is the first Dead Meat video I've seen narrated by Chelsea, and she did a fantastic job! Just at great as usual, but with a different sense of personality.
“Can you keep it down in trying to do drugs!” Is the best quote I’ve ever seen in a movie.
"That night, Patrick walks home through the alleyway where Joe Chill shot his parents" That one went so smoothly, i love it! Good job on the kill count Chelsea!
This is probably the perfect first film for Chelsea to review. A female directed movie that has heavy themes of gender and satire of masculinity, and Chelsea presenting the video gives a different perspective from how James would’ve had. Love it!
@Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades why comment then? 😥😨
I agree. I like Chelsea hosting as well. She's got a fun different energy hosting. Like how Zoran had a different hosting style
Ok nerd
@Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades oh shit guys, we’ve got a badass over here.
Yes, satire but not actually making fun of said gender, which I like best out of the film, especially since it makes fun of the people I hate most such as the yuppies and corporatists who are no different than the very man sitting next to them.
I forgot how much I loved this channel
Chelsea nailed James' classic "TITLE CARD!" That was just as good as when James does it. Good work.
I tend to not like when youtubers have other people host their videos, but somehow dead meat has masterfully had 3 hosts that capture the style an overall feel for the kill counts while also making it their own. great job dead meat!
yeah they absolutely nail the format and the rhythm. great research; everything.
well, it's not like Chelsea isn't deadmeat, she's just not James but i see what you mean
I didnt think they could make their videos any more preachy until this chick showed up.
@@hurpaderpp I feel like James has always been a humanist though. Maybe you should revaluate yourself as well!
@@yimothyyarles7854 Yeah that's not really what I meant. It's different though, different voice slightly different pacing and perspective. It's welcomed in my book.
"The man the myth the Morbius" Had me fucking rolling
@The Lonely Proto And is the frontman of an emo band
ive always interpreted the ending to be that they all think he's a dork, but he still did it. They just werent impressed with how he did it and they all were into it as well ad had higher numbers. They covered for him too because then that runs the risks of the others being caught too
No hate here but I was kinda disappointed James didn't do this one. His quips and jokes would have been awesome commentary over this honestly
