6:42 "And the front is open... AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" kills me EVERY TIME. Also, fun fact: it's not Ed who keeps leaving the front door open, it's Shaun, you can tell because when he gets back from the shop he doesn't close it behind him and that's how the groom zombie gets in.

Actually noticed this after rewatching for the 10th time, the part where shaun is shooting the zombies that are pouring through the windows in the pub and ed is telling him where to shoot, is exactly the same callouts shaun gives ed at the start of the movie whilst hes playing the video game, i know there is alot of reoccurring moments similar to that, its shocking how after watching the movie so many times i still pick up on new subtle details, amazing movie
The whole movie is basically foreshadowed in the first 15 or 25 minutes

No matter how many times I watch this movie, I laugh my ass off every time.
“Take car. Drive to mum’s. Kill Phil. Take Mum, pick up Liz. Drive to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint and wait for all of this to blow over.” I can’t count the number of times I used this quote when people asked me what am I doing in quarantine when Covid was bad.
The best part is how Shaun gets less and less sincere every time they mention killing Philip

Fun fact, there was actually a comic about Shaun running from the hoard of zombies only to realise that they were slow and he had to keep waiting. He eventually hid for some time and then went back to the pub without any trouble.

Also the "failed actress" hid in a tree and slowly ate the leg of of her boyfriend to survive. She now lives with her aunt.

The beauty of good British comedies is the total realism.
Some of the relatable humour is scarily accurate and funny. It's possibly the thing I'm most proud of being a Brit lol.
13:30 i love how in the movie it's hinted that Barbra got bit. When the zombie's beating the glass door he doesn't have a bloody mouth, but when shaun comes to the rescue the zombie's mouth is now bloody.

I love how The "Dont Stop Me Now" Scene isnt even an epic Zombie killing spree like you'd expect nowadays. Its just all of them beating the hell out of one zombie with pool cues.

Also, as someone who is British, I’m so happy that James covered this film, because it’s one of my all time favourite British ‘horror, comedy’ movies, including Attack The Block(which is more of an urban realism film than horror, but it’s got death and aliens, so whatever).
But, isn't the Tardis a Police box? A Telephone box would be closer to the spy comedy series: Get Smart.

One little detail worth pointing out is that at that Winchester bar scene at the beginning, Ed basically outlines the plot of the movie but in the form of a pub crawl

Fun fact: Simon Pegg was originally supposed to be Hughie in The Boys. The character in the comic was drawn to look like Simon Pegg. But "The Boys" took so long to adapt that Simon Pegg got too old for the role.
He was the inspiration for Hughie. NOT meant to be him in the show since that was never a thought when it was created.
But they did hire him as Hughie's dad paying homage to that fact.

This is one of those special movies that is filled with jokes but when the hard things hit they hit really hard
Shaun shooting his Mom scene is incredibly well acting and David is a perfect little fuckin weasel.
Right? Shauns stepdad and mum dying and him saying goodbye to Ed made me cry like a baby even though I don't cry easily.

One of my top 5 favorite movies. Especially poignant for me was the last conversation between Shaun and Phillip. Being a step-father myself, it was touching. And pretty accurate…
Fun fact in a deleted scene David actually gets his apology out and his girlfriend literally says “thank you David, that took guts” and right after that we get to the scene where hes torn to shreds (with his guts being ripped out but thats obvious), but was left out for running time and to ensure the scene would remain horrific rather than comedic justice. Ngl i totally get it cause knowing that makes that death scene comedically dark.
It's a shame that they cut that scene out because it would make us at least forgive David before he is torn apart whereas in the the actual movie he just dies a asshole

Ed and Shaun are maybe my favorite duo in comedy movie history. They got such a great chemistry between the two and that’s mostly thanks to the real life friendship of Pegg and Frost. It’s a true highlight of This movie.

Yeah i have Cornetto Trilogy on my PS4 of Shawn of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's end.
I grew up watching this movie, ever since it first came out. I love this movie, and I'd even go as far as to say it's one of the best movies I ever experienced during my lifetime. I was 4 when it first came out, and it was a major part of why I love all things spooky, creepy, and maybe even scary. It's why zombies are my favorite horror movie monster type. Every time Philip dies, I am brought to tears due to the fact that growing up I didn't really have a father, just father figures. Thank you for covering this movie, James, it means a lot to me.

Ed foreshadows the entire movie to Shawn early in the movie. before the zombie apacolyspe starts he is talking to shawn about his plans for the night "Starting with a bloody mary ( Mary in the back yard), a bite at the King's head (Philip gets bit in the neck) Get more at the little princess (pick up the others) and stagger back to the bar for shots (they pretend to be zombies to get into the Winchester where they shoot zombies)"

@@deant3980 that's my favorite running joke. It's perfectly representative of these dudes sense of humor. It's so... dry. It's just there if you notice it, but it's not an obnoxious, "aren't we so funny" bit that is so common in other comedies of that era. It also serves the story and character. It shows us how Shaun is a constantly put-upon drone wherever he goes.

All three films of the trilogy have fantastic writing full of foreshadowing
Like the way Pegg's character describes what's going to happen drinking on the pub crawl mirrors what happens with the aliens at each pub
You're my favorite channel because I thought I knew EVERYTHING about this movie, but somehow you still managed to sneak in fun trivia that I didn't know about. I've watched this movie the most out of any movie (at least 20 times) and it felt like I was watching it for the 2nd time lol
This movie was the first horror movie i ever watched, its always been one of the reasons i got into horror. I have a small emotional attachment to this since this sparked my love for bloody slashers. Im know older and have tons of horror movies like jigsaw all the saws cabin in the woods and much much more, i am thankful for this amazing movie and i also thank you for covering this movie from my childhood.

I just like how the heroes are average guys stumbling thier way through a crazy situation like normal people would!
I went on a movie date with my girlfriend to see this movie in a local theater thats known for showing predominantly horror movies, and they gave us a blow up baseball bat to hit each other with every time you saw a zombie. On it, theres just "You've got red on you" in bold red letters.

It's bitter sweet. It looks happy, but if you think too hard about it, it becomes quite disturbing. And that's a really good way to end it.
