With how ominous his warning was, and how he said "See you soon," I like to think that in a version of the story, Bloodworth wasn't actually a mortician. He was Death itself. Just my impression from watching this Kill Count.

My dad thought it would be hilarious to show me this film the night before I was going on a 26-hour flight to New Zealand, which was also the first time I ever got on a plane. I was 13 and that was the most intense 26 hours that you can imagine. Thanks a lot, Dad. 🙄

For anyone wondering about the seat switching mention that confused James, it’s saying that Alex wasn’t actually next in line to die, he had already evaded it
No he was originally sitting in the back but the two girl asked to switch with him and he did switch (in the premonition) but in “real life” he didn’t switch seats with them

I've always wondered if death was a force of nature or its own entity in the Final Destination series
The latter. There are apparently some FD books; according to them, Death is a malicious entity that enjoys coming up with fucked up ways to kill people because... well, it's Death. Who's going to tell it to stop?
There's also apparently a dream sequence in one book where we get a description of how Death's physical form looks. It's possibly one of the most metal things I've ever heard of: an incomprehensibly titanic effigy made of the bones of every animal that's ever lived - and died.

During Todd's death scene the water that he slips on slowly moves back into the bottom crack of the toilet. It's a small detail that has really bothered me for a long time. I think it's an entity. If it wasn't then the water would stay on the floor. By the way, even IF it's an entity why would death cover up it's tracks....it's very easy to get hung up on this nuance

Back in first grade we had a field trip to a barn,there was this place with chickens that we were told specifically NOT to go.we were supposed to go to a small show but turns out that all the “cool kids” went to the chicken sanctuary instead.i fell asleep on the bus ride there and had a dream that somebody would get very injured in the chickens because of something,turns out a kid DID get injured and we had to go back from the field trip to get an ambulance

I love how after the knife block falls in the movie, the block behind James tips over as well.
I just realized that if someone started freaking out on a plane similar to Alex, I would have no idea what to do since I would think of this movie, get off and survive or die in a potentially more painful way sometime later, or stay on the plane to either survive and the person was just having an anxiety attack or die in the explosion.

My theory of what Bluddworth says about inciting a fury in the Grim Reaper, is actually the reason for the complicated deaths in the movies.
His original design where horrible deaths. They usually were over pretty quickly and maybe painlessly sometimes. (Again, stretching that a fair bit but humor me.)
But, you cheated death and now he wants to make you suffer. Now, death could just stop your heart, but that's what I think Bluddworth means by angering him. Instead of something simple like a heart attack, he wants to toy with you. He wants you to suffer. He wants everyone you save to suffer.
Let you stew in your grief, then kill you in a complicated messed up death that you probably see coming but have no way to stop or worse, your in horrible agony the entire time (Case in point Tods death)

Final Destination is probably the only horror movie franchise that genuinely scares me. Something about dying by "accidents" is way scarier than being haunted by a murder happy knife guy. Of course not every one is made equal, some have way too unrealistic deaths, unrealistic deaths don't work so well in an "accident" based series.

Bludworth knew the group from that film were trying to cheat death, and did so successfully for a time, causing the explosion of the plane.
As someone with serious flying anxiety... I feel every single one of Alex's nervousness moments prior to the flight. ALL of those things would freak me out, too.

My friend brought something up about Tod’s death, and I thought this was a really good point. Death retraces its steps because it wants Tod’s death to look like a suicide.
I always thought it was funny to think Death didn’t realize clear was next until Alex says it out loud. He’s stalking Alex, hears that, and just leaves, putting out the lamp.
My theory about kinda confusing bit is that Alex somehow managed to intervene his own death, so it skipped him and went onto Clear.

This is something that some alternate media goes into, like some Final Destination books that apparently exist. According to what I've read other comments about, Death in the FDverse is less a neutral force of nature and more like a malicious Lovecraftian deity that enjoys coming up with convoluted ways to kill people and has been doing so for millennia. Its true form is also apparently a mountain-sized mass made up of bones and humus from every species of organism that's ever lived.

I’m absolutely fascinated by these films, I’ve read the plots and looked up all the trivia etc but the only one I’ve ever managed to watch all the way through is 3. They just freak me out so much! The fact that there is no visible killer and no escape is so scary to me (I’m a massive wimp tbf)

The cafe being the same is an EXTREMELY well-written inclusion, and a strong hidden clue to the 5th film being a prequel. Kudos to the writers and directors.
The attention to detail about the coffee shop is lovely, but why then in the garage scene did they totally forget how automatic transmissions work, in the scene clear starts the car and jams the gear lever all the way backward, but the car goes backwards. that car being an early 80s ford mustang, the gear pattern for those cars goes P,R,N,D,2,1 forward to back so logically the car should have gone forward into the house, but it didnt it went backward, even in the extreme unlikely event it was a manual transmission, which it wasnt you can see its a T shape handle with only forwards and backwards movement, the way she moved the selector the car should have still gone forward. FD5 had some good throwbacks to this one, but that was expected since it was a prequel and without the moments of ooh look its 2000 and ooh my volee air, it almost could just be another movie with not tie in to final destination. but it would seem really odd to miss something so simple as proper gear selection, something which anyone whos ever driven already knows because Park, Reverse, Neutral and Drive are always in the same order and have been since the 60s.
Being fated to die and then dying by what looks like random chance is so much more terrifying to think about than a guy with a knife. Especially when you know it’s coming but not how or when

So, we don't take the premonition literal. In the premonition he died next to Tod, since he's still sitting behind Clear and hasn't moved YET that's the order (meaning the premonition order is wrong). So we should see it as...we didn't see how Alex WOULD have died, but MIGHT have died.
And even though he said YES in the vision. He... didn't in real life, so that changed Death's order? Or no, more like, there's an off screen future where Alex didn't move which is what Death is going off of.

I know this is the first movie but every movie after it goes by the order they die in the Premonition. Meaning this would be the only movie that doesn't show them dying in the proper order. Simply a Possible Future, not The Future.

So does this mean the Premonition order is just up for interpretation, and even though he died next to Tod, death just looks at his assigned seat?

Someone might have explained this but the reason why Alex says that he never moved seats and that Clear was in front of him is because in his premonition those two girls ask him to move seats and therefore he ends up sitting a couple rows in front from where Clear is sitting, but only in his premonition because before the explosion is acually about to take place he never switch places with those two girls, making him the last one to die following the "deaths design". 18:40
