@@livz666 That's not specific to the Kutuzov, though. All light cruisers with gun calibers larger than destroyers were affected like that. It was a change to smoke cruisers across the board.

Well zao has torps that do serious damage and are usable. Ever since they added the 12km torps it's been a very useful ship even in clan battles

Eh, first time I saw Smolensk last night, I killed him in one salvo from Stalingrad. I mean they might have massive DPS, fire chance, etc, but if scrubs park it behind an island because they don't know someone with AP is around, that problem is solved quick.
@@aluisious Indeed, Ive met so many Smolenskes lately and the ship honestly doesnt seem that strong. Maybe it isnt played right thou. You just need to push a Smolensk instead of running away and youll blap him easely. DMs will litteraly rape Smolenskes unless you try and open water gunboating. Also Smolensk only damage is basically fire damage. It shatters almost every shell on anything even with IFHE.

You cannot argue a ship is not OP because there exist ways to deal with it, even though a competent player will never let you exploit those ways. Those arguments were nonsense when they were used to denigrate the concerns around Stalingrad, and they are still nonsense now.

@@nonowgoaway The ship is strong but being a coal ship, a lot of the people playing it are awful. The reason something like Stalingrad was especially strong when it came out was because only the most effective players were able to amass the steel quickly to buy it, so you had a strong ship used by strong players. Smolensk is a strong ship used by anyone who chooses resource containers.
Imagine if WG focused on dropping ten new maps.

I liked what they were going for with the early iterations of Smolensk and Colbert. Bow and Stern overmatchable by 203mm cruiser AP. But WG, ever insightful into how to fix a game they seemingly don't play on their own, rolled out the spreadsheets as they usually do and botched the job.
Smolensk and Colbert would be tolerable if they were glass cannons like they were originally shown off as. But it seems like WG misinterpreted the glass part of the glass part of that statement as "Can't see them because they are behind an island or sitting in smoke. . . Or because you're dead raged out in port". Welp, I have to applaud them for something and I guess Italian SAP is looking a whole lot more enticing now against these two of only just for them.
You'd make a good messenger, keep up the good work :) .

Flamu, you could choose RPF plus Consealment plus hydro. With such a build, Smolensk becomes a perfect counter-destoyer CL that can also cap.
However you preferred AND recommended the ultimate HE spammer's build.
Great job dude, keep supporting the HE and firestarting meta - it gives so much fun and enjoyable gameplay experience to everyone, right?
PS Smolensk herself is not OP. It's the HE/firestarting meta that is OP. And it's not going to change because it is in this meta that every potato can get loads of XP and feel like a hero.

What do you think about switching Concealment System Mod. 1 to Steering gear Mod 3? -80% repair time and 40% better rudder is insane. Concealment is almost useless for Smolensk, but i dont know if +5% dispersion is worth it

I feel like there was an oopsie at WG HQ and the NTC ship Smolensk was accidentally released for coal, while Colbert got released for NTC instead
Just wondering if anyone would consider , instead of IFHE, leave it and go DE, to maximise its fire starting strength. I'm thinking of buying it and I think I will probably go for that spec.

Was there a main gun range reduction on Smolensk? Was it before or after this video? Does this change the recommended modules set-up? Gun fire control mod 2 instead of Main battery mod 3?

Everyone was whining about the Colbert being broken and i just sat there, looked at Smolensk toolkit and thought to myself "you are crying about the wrong bottle of spilled milk guys".

Did you know that the mission Total Wreck we saw at the end of gameplay actually refers to the future of WoWs?
Didn't build it like you. I put the extended range module and with AFT i'm sitting at 19 km spamming HE on BBs. Also chose demolition expert in place of BFT. And i play it with the sonar for when i'm sitting in my smoke.
never take DE over bft on 139mm gun or less, simple math: better reload gives more fire chance and dpm.

The question is, when the IFHE change comes, will ships like this be useless? I’m worried things like my Atlanta and Belfast will become obsolete with the change.

I meet three Smolensk and one Woster in my Hindi last night, didnt work out for me and I stopped playing. Not a fun experience......
I uninstalled the game. Too much bullshit in the game anymore
For ships actively using smokes, I actually always prefer NOT running the extended hydro duration mod as it helps keeping the smoke and hydro cooldown times more closely synchronized, plus overall I can barely remember when I had a moment where I wished I had longer hydro duration ... the amount of times I however wished my hydro were already off cooldown is something much more common.
And in the current meta, CVs numbers are dwindling down again so more often than not you won't be seeing any CVs anyway. Plus with BFT and AFT, your AA is already so nasty with the now current (post-patch) AA mechanics that the DFAA doesn't really make that much of a difference (it mostly just boosts the flak burst damage, which is much less reliable damage than continuous dps whose damage boost has been reduced significantly) and the new priority sector already functions as a "DFAA lite". And even if all this isn't enough, any smart CV player who really wants you can just do the same thing they've always done, bait DFAA, bail, wait out its duration and get you then anyway.
I am however curious why you chose BFT over DE. With a base fire chance of 7% after IFHE, the flat 2% addition is an almost 30% fire chance increase ( 25% increase in addition with the signal flags boost if we count those into the base chance). Compared to the 10% dpm (and thus likewise a 10% effective firechance increase), I find it's almost a no-brainer to pick DE over BFT since the vast majority of damage you do against any armoured targets (i.e.: any plate your IFHE can't pen) is fire damage and thus anything that buffs the fire chance, even at the expense of a little gun dpm, is well worth it.
So unless you take BFT because you also really want that 10% continuous AA dps buff, it's arguably a bad trade-off given the very BB heavy meta.

Absolutely correct. I've run into them driving my terrible trio of DD's.. Harekaze, Yugumo, Shima... Very difficult to deal with especially with US radar (enhanced) usually running about with it. Worse when air is about. And ya'll though Harugumo was bad.. *THPPEEEFFFFT!~* Compared to this not even! Utterly sets a new high bar on released OP.
this ship (and the Colbert) is the reason I stopped playing BBs above t7, and I'm even reluctant to get on my Minotaur or Worcester because it's just not fun facing this thing in 90% of the games I play...
