Don't put yourself down. It was a bad video, with no usable information. The bottom line value of all silver and/or gold coins, is the current spot (meaning the bottom price before premiums are factored in) value of the metal weight at the time you decide to buy, or sell. Added premiums, of course, vary from seller to seller. Numismatics generally will add a higher premium for more highly collectible coins. I hope that helps to clarify things a bit for you. Seriously, you're not dumb. The video was bad.

I believe the question comes down to not which silver piece is more valuable, but instead, which silver can I get my money out of quickly, when need be. The simple answer (here in the States) is of course the American Silver Eagle. Rounds are nice, and numismatic & semi-numismatic coins are pretty, but there always ONE form of FAST conversion, the great ASE.

    • @kenkaufman9998

That is if you can find someone willing to pay 20% over sport for silver. Would you pay a 20% premium on a Gold American Eagle? LOL... At the end of the day you are buying an ounce of Silver, not a rare coin. I would not pay more for an ASE unless the premium was the same as a generic silver round.

I stack silver and I buy it as cheaply as I can. Eagles carry a steep premium and you are unlikely to get most of it back. Now I do have a handful of coins, vice rounds, that I bought because I like them. But that is not part of my stack. Those are just things I have picked up because I enjoy them. That's called a "hobby." Stacking silver is "investing."

Silver is silver. When you buy American Eagles, there will be a higher premium charged to you compared with silver rounds because they are more popular and in higher demand. However when you sell it will be at the going price for silver per ounce what it is. So you can either make a slight profit or loss. More often you will make a loss because silver falls more than it rises.

Some dealers might give you 60% of your investment if you sell your silver. Putting your silver on sale on ebay might earn you a profit or it might not. Most often it will not. There are too many people selling eagles or generic rounds on ebay so if you are selling you need to sell it as a BUY NOW option. Then you have to entice the buyer like maybe waiving shipping or combining Silver Eagles with some other coin or tube of Silver Coins.

  • @GOSPEL_of_the_KINGDOM_REDBOOK

The holding of any hard asset primary purpose is to store value and prevent wealth destruction by having an asset with intrinsic value. Any asset with intrinsic value (e.g. land, metals, art, property) is a safe-guard against wealth destruction via inflation or any other means. To look at silver as an investment, is just to torture yourself; because an increase in the price of metals, means a decrease in the value of fiat. So a loaf of bread is now $10 if silver goes to $40 (and stays there); if fiat goes to zero then some wealth is preserved. Metals are not an investment, its insurance.

If you make a profit then great, but I am 100% in agreement with you. There are way better ways to grow wealth than stacking silver but having that insurance gives me peace of mind. I try to.have 5-10% of my net worth in metals and I know silver and gold will never go to zero while fiat could.

If I were to get into silver again I'd focus on rare coins, semi numismatic or mint state coins. Id focus on old American coins, old coins from British India or old European coins. I'd do a lot of research, buy different coin catalogues. I'd refrain from buying perfect mint stated coins like MS 70. My LCS prefers generic- 10oz-100oz bars to be exact. He pays 0-25 cents under spot. He ships it off to his refiner the next day, gets paid in 3-4 days. He'll buy ASE's for $1 over spot, but has to hold them to resell due to the premium. He buys all kinds of gold/silver. He says 50% of his sellers inherited it, 20% were given it as gifts, 15% are coin collectors, and 15% are stackers. Only the last 30% actually know what it's worth in Fiat.

Worth? They are worth what someone will pay for them. There is a sucker born every minute. ASE are worth ONE Dollar. They are worth the price of ONE ounce of Silver. There true value is Silver spot on any given day. Most are not rare and never will be. Thus they are basically a one ounce silver slug. I would not pay extra premium over a generic silver round. Heck you can buy generic commemorative US $5 gold at basically 2% premium over spot gold. Why would you pay a 20% premium over spot for an ASE.

In my opinion, preppers value ounces. Investors...close to the same but mixed with more eagles, maple leaves, etc. Collectors care about proofs, dates, etc. Silver has a higher premium than gold. If your plan is to make money off of silver, then likely the ones with less premium would be best. I quit getting silver. Slowing down on gold.

  • @whitespacemarines4308
    @whitespacemarines4308 Před 5 lety

You pay or get paid for a silver eagle around spot. THIS is what others have valued this coin as. BUT, what it's TRUE Value is, is anyone's guess. (Keep in mind though, that metals are being Held DOWN.)
    This is CURRENCY.
Fiat Money is Paper, held up by many things, but mostly by faith in the US dollar. It's value comes from Oil,...BUT, only by the US's ability to make WAR for oil, hence the Petro Dollar. Money is MONO (Single) EYE (Eye on the back of the dollar bill).
The single eye, IS THEIR god.
There is NO labor from money. It is fake and backed by USURY. (It IS Debt!,...OUR Debt!)
If you RENT a lawn mower, they charge you.
If you borrow (Rent) money, they charge you with interest compounded. And THIS is the difference between Renting and Usury.
Money has NO CURRENCY. Current flows through OUR bodies during labor. Currency flows through metals and metals are labor intensive to produce in this form. So you are trading fiat money for labor intensive currency when trading for precious metals.
Gold to Silver is pretty much as much as a 50 to 1 and as little as 10 to 1 Ratio.
SO!!,....if Silver Ever gets ground,....it COULD rise to a 10 to 1 to gold. As of now, that one silver eagle COULD be worth $150 or so.
BUT, if silver were to rise that high,....gold would rise also, and THEN they would even out to anywhere from a 50 to 1, to a 10 to 1 ratio.
SOME DAY, silver COULD be worth well over $150 an ounce,...minus the value of the coin itself.
As they say, three of TODAY'S dimes could not get you a gallon of gas, but three dimes from 1960 WILL! Because three silver dimes from before 1964 are worth about $3 in silver.
I THINK you can see the inflation issue here.
Our US Money (Dollar) is worth around 3 cents in buying power.

  • @goldmaple4360

Silver is a loss leader if you are buying Eagles. They are generic and have not really changed in design. Instead I'd say buy semi numismatic coins like the Australian Perth Mint Koalas, Kookaburas and Lunar Series, coins who design changes every year . This adds to the collectibity and marketability of your silver, as certain years are hard to get and fewer sellers in the market for those coins. That's how you make money from silver.
