- Welcome to Mystery Quest! A roleplaying podcast where we play a variety of one-shot roleplaying games with a rolling cast of special guests. Our adventure continues in Mothership: The Haunting of Ypsilon 14, a spooky, sci fi, horror adventure that sees the crew of a delivery ship on a routine supply drop embroiled in a mystery aboard a mining base. Today, the crew start asking questions to try and get to the bottom of the disappearance of a member of the mining team.

Experimenting with the 1 on 1 "pull asides" I feel is going to go far for helping us connect with the characters in the game.
Probably not something appropriate for something like the Goblin Grinder where characters are cycled through pretty regularly, but so far I feel its working well for this!

Yes this format only works if the characters are expected to live for a large part of the campaign.
I loved those parts of this episode, great music there too.
"Have you tried texting them?" is a great running gag
This is probably the best one so far- The vibes and jokes are goofy, but Tom does a very good job making sure the whole situation still feels unsettling. I'm very much inclined towards running a game or two of Mothership myself after watching this, keep up the good work!

I didn't realize how much I missed the bizarre chemistry Lewis and Simon share :) I can honestly say that for me, Mystery Quest is the best Yogs content in quite some time .

I loved the "last time" recap being space themed this time, it'll be exciting to see any future recaps in different styles, maybe a fantasy game recapped in a crystal ball or something.
Also love when tom adds a wacky character like Johnny soylant red or Killgore, always a dumb joke throwaway, and yet I always get attached to them...

I have watched this entire session 5 times now. It's my favourite roleplay session you have ever done. It's honestly perfect and is my own dream roleplay game.
Between Lydia's incredible roleplaying, Tom's atmospheric yet comedic mastery, and the perfect interplayer roleplay I genuinely cannot get enough of this.
Please can you get Lydia to play this character more. The yogsquests you DM'd/keepered honestly kept me alive through lockdown, and this channel is everything I've been hoping for for years now. Thank you so much for putting this together

Man, been loving this channel even more than I thought I would; and this is easily my favorite Mystery Quest so far. Hell, this is competing with my nostalgia for the old Star Wars Yogsquests.

I love players just like him especially since he spotted that Kentaro thing later.

Its the difference between a roll player and a power gamer
Ben "Sherlock" Edgar wrinkle braining Kintaro smelling bad + whatever it is causing hydrophobia + broken shower + sprinklers in the farm being obviously turned off for a while = Kintaro is infected/infested with whatever it is was amazing to watch. I had totally missed this and probably would have continued to miss it until it was spelled out to me, so props to Ben for figuring it out. Also, shoutout to Ben for being such a good player, balancing out the player meta knowledge and common sense with his player knowledge and common sense, and how he plays his character's fear of parasites against the player knowledge that putting the water down and not threatening him would probably make the situation better, his character would not risk that. Honestly props to all the players, Lyds seems newer to RPing but is getting better each game and I love her character and how she is playing it in this one, Lewlew definitely struggles with that meta knowledge but is able to reign it in, and is also playing an android super well(along with Super Seducing the crew 1 kiss at a time), and Simon is great at balancing jokes and banter with seriously playing his variety of doctors(is it just me or is Simon always some sort of doctor?) And of course Tom being a fantastic DM who lets the party have fun while also keeping things on track and spooky. Just in love with the channel, and this game in particular already feels great, and we are only 2 episodes in. Keep up the fantastic work peeps can't wait for the next episode!
Their was a LOADED REVOLVER in the Vent, not a good sign. A creature that doesn't like water, interesting. It would seem this facility has dug too deep.

I think one of toms strengths as a DM or maybe his style? is being able to get the players to kind of be their own story tellers. As content creators its where they shine the most and Tom really gives lots of prompts and options for them to express that

Oh that was such a fun episode! The roleplay from Simon was so on point. Can't wait for the continuation... the plot thickens... or waters down? Tom's really cooking is what I'm saying and the soup's tasty.
I never expected Lydia to be the star in a TTRPG, but she's fucking blazing and I'm all here for it!

they haven't precisely been cured of rabies, but a few people have survived by being put in comas so their spasming muscles don't kill them while their body fights the infection. It doesn't work often but when it does they usually have brain damage due to the extremely high fevers they run

Little late getting through all of these from the beginning but I wanted to comment and say Tom you are doing a wonderful job. These are so fun to watch and it feels professional but also like a rotating group of friends. The members content really adds a lot and I feel like will get more people into actually playing the games. I downloaded the free Mothership rule set and we are going to try it out as well!
Loving this content, Some the office style interviews during the game could be interesting to see how people are thinking its going
