Simon and lydia are like those regulars on panel shows that are in every episode despite the cast around them rotating constantly.
And I personally couldn't be happier with it staying that way
simon is basically my internet bill bailey. Always an absolute joy to see him as a contestant lol
It's going to suck when he dies. Age is showing it's sign
@@Slouworkerbit of a shit head statement not really grounded in anything
@@Slouworkerdude wtf
More Lydia, Lewis and Simon AND now Ben? Make my weekend, why don't you
right? what a cast! this is top tier yogscast in one room!
same
and TOM!
@@davidalankaminski goes without saying! Bam!
Week late but this has made mine too
I love how Simon barely survived long enough to be introduced
Simon nearly dying in the cryo-bed was pretty good. Imagine if that was it & he had to roll up a new guy immediately after the campaign started.
It reminded me a lot of morkborg. I was just waiting for him to die immediately again.
Not quite Traveller quick, but pretty close.
I feel like it was a great start to a sci-fi horror story
I listened to a Cyberpunk RED podcast where this exact thing happened in the first ever session, and the system has a pretty lengthy character creation process too lmfao.
15 minutes in and I'm almost certain that Simon is going to end up playing a duck again.
I was thinking the same thing.
Wait, where did he play a duck? 😂
@@ClyeRandom In the Morkborg game they did.
When they play Mork Borg on this same channel some interesting events happen for sure 😅@@ClyeRandom
I am just so pleased to see Lewis and Simon's comedy bouncing off one another. It's a dynamic I really missed and I love seeing here on Tom's Mystery Quest!
yeah! ever since march 2015 (when simon had that surgery) he has never fully come back! sure he did for a few things like WhaleLords in 2016 and ofcourse simons PP, but its been really rare to see the Simon and Lewis chemistry in the last 8 years! we can probably count it on 2 hands :(
I'm loving Lewis playing an android. It's so different from Ameebo & John Steel. Simon nearly getting offed at intro was crazy. Looking forward to more.
Ameebo! Imperial police! 😂
@@svenrio8521
I may forget the details of their adventure on Tatuin, but I will always remember how Lewis made Ameebo spend several hours interviewing the entire floor of an apartment complex looking for a spare key to Johnny's reinforced flat.
Everyone knows the feeling when your first combat encounter of the day is against a door.
I know. Imagine sustaining an injury and spending three spells in order to open a single door.
6:40 Lewis flashback-ing to Lydia asking him for a drink in the club, freezing in fear. Makes me laugh every time
I forgot about that. 😂
What was that from?
So we loosely have Lewis as Kryten, Simon as Rimmer, Lydia as Cat and Ben as Lister.
This is literally the dream cast!
15:28
I love how you can see Tom's heart shrink
All of Lydia's characters have the same 'alright darling?' energy lol
The sound effects of this jittery clanking mining station already have me fully creeped out.
Android lewis is actually brilliant casting lol. The moustache and camera angle on the close ups really feels like it adds to this
2 bouts of damage, Stress mechanic being explained, and Simon nonchalantly pops a Nicorette lmao
Lewis with his mustache looks like a World War 1 officer.
"Tally ho Ben! Send those chumps in closer to Jerry, I want to hit them with my stun rod!"
Oh baby, this is *exactly* what I needed today.
Mystery Quest is the best thing to happen to the Yogs since Games Night!
I got locked in a car once in the middle of an Arizona Summer when I was 6 and couldn't get out the back because the doors wouldn't open (child security locks) so for a bit I just gave up and cried on the back seat and then a few minutes later I was like "maybe the front door" and lo and behold that works. People have trouble with very simple things under duress!
Wow! Lewis's opening lines were fantastic! He really took the android role and made quite an intro
i love the voice Lydia is doing for her character it's just perfect
Wait, _"Dr. Thrax?"_
Aah, the space-GLA sends their finest vintner, I see!
Im 5 months late but I want you to know that I saw your comment and was thinking very similar thoughts.
MORE VICTIM- I mean, VOLUNTEERS for his experiments
I half expected Simons character to just wake up as a skeleton when he rolled a critical failure 💀
Gotta say that having been a DM for ages, one of my favourite dynamics is a combination of newer & older players, and I love how Mystery Quest very often really makes the most of that dynamic. Gods this is just a spectacular time!
I remember playing Mothership once, the android PC developed a religious obsession with human death, the marine was invested with some kind of mold like alien infection and died in the evac shuttle, I developed a paranoia about where I got stressed every time someone left and then reentered my line of sight and died of a heart attack when the marine tired to offer me a drink to calm me down in the evac shuttle, and the scientist jettisoned herself from the eavc shuttle and was thrown in a hypersleep tube at gunpoint after having the android and marine blown up in the shuttle as a biohazard. But we managed to stop the space demon portal from being completed by never entering the mines and rigging the nuclear power plant of the facility to explode.
lewis' android voice is actually really good :o
simon almost dying straight away is so on brand... at least he didnt have a "magic spell" to create a burst of light for a brief moment, this time...
Tom, I'm so glad you're finding your stride with this channel. You got different RPG systems in smaller one-shot size chunks, which is great for people that don't want to commit to the large HR style campaign. You got a huge font of talented front-of-camera types that already enjoy each other's company to be a rotating cast of players/GMs. This is perfect evergreen content, and it works as a podcast too! I sincerely hope the algo favors you on this one!
This reminded me of the (unfortunately) short Star Wars campaign Mark Hulmes ran at the start of this year. Rule-wise, it was a combination of Edge of the Empire and Age of Rebellion (I think?) with Andor-like setting. Would love to see something like that for the eventual longer campaign
Holy ship! Mothership! This video is officially endorsed by the Intergalactic Union of Teamsters, reminding all to conform by the rules of the union.
Big ups to the editor, the sound effects were on point
Really enjoying this series
Always shout out the editors. They do an amazing job everytime but never get enough recognition.
I thought: "hey, these people in the thumbnail look exactly like a knockoff yogscast", but no, they're the actual yogscast lol.
i know this is probably a strange thing to compliment, but i adore the intros that tom does, they're very very fun
I cannot convey with words how much I enjoy the dramatic intro melting into the jaunty intro theme. It's just perfect
Ben's character made a right choice. If those national guardmen stood down and didnt shoot down that unarmed college campus back in the (60's-70's?), no innocent wouldve died.
That beginning was tense! I was certain Simon would have to "respawn" as Collin again.
'but your from the north'
'lots of places have a norf'
Lydia is so good in this. The others are great too.
35:20 This is bordering on just being Tom and Ben talking about small toys, and I imagine Lydia was just thinking "Christ, not again"
I want Lewis's android voice for my AI assistant.
Scary Red Dwarf? Here we come
I have been loving these videos so much. Thanks for creating the Mystery Quest channel!
4:38 Ben gets scared away by a mysterious sound effect.
I wonder if this will be important later in the story...
I love how intro gets more elaborate each time. In a year or so, it'll take up half the video x)
spag racing, spasteroid, sparden, spood, (pls dont make me say it- oh well)spickaxes, spills, spovels, spard hat, spexting
spahamas
spalibu x2
speer, spiller light
sparacetamol
spaspirin....
spars
sporn
Okay. What. Lewis’ intro voice and speech was very good
It always brings a smile to my face to see Lewis and Simon.
This is the actual group that makes for possibly the best role playing, I already know this is gonna be great.
Can already tell this will be a great series with my favourite people. Taking bets on how long before the android betrays them with the classic brindley flip flop
As a Tom aficionado the way he said ‘bowel’ might as well be a lit up sign saying ‘improv’, and as always it’s chef’s kiss perfect. Tom has perfect improv bowels.
This is bringing back the joy I missed when they stopped making Yogsquest. So happy they made this channel
Loving these super dramatic intros
Robo-Lewis will assume the position.
Loving this one! All we're missing is Barry and Zylus, and we'd have all the top tier Tom Team Ups on one table!
You know how kids will talk and talk and talk, and if you're minding them you need to learn to make little "active listening" noises so they know you're paying attention even though you're trying to do something else? Ben hasn't turned his "dad is listening" noises off. xD
Space horror with Tomthulu & the Yoggoths? Yes, please!
You can tell Ben is married. As Tom drones on and on he just grunts in acknowledgement and nods along, trying not to fall asleep. Man is very well practiced in "active listening".
Man make joke: wife bad. Hahahah. Very laugh.
Looking forward to the cast in this game! Between Mystery Quest and the updated Games Night the Yogs are putting out some incredible content!
I hope this channel will leave a dent in the future. I never seen so many beautiful and professional people in the same place. this is pure diamonds and deserves million's of views. Almost watched everything on this channel in 3 days, I am addicted! Thanks for uploading to shitty CZcams.
Enjoy the rotating cast, but this one has been my favourite so far! Love this dynamic.
I've honestly become wearied of TTRPG content since the web has become aflush with it and everyone and their mother has to start a YT series/podcast of their playthrough. That said, I was so excited to see y'all starting up Mystery Quest and I've enjoyed what I've seen so far and can't wait for more. Clean editing, nice audio, well-balanced episodes between silly stuff and the more serious sides of the stories, no trudging through rules and how everyone interprets them. Keep it up!
just letting everyone know, becoming a member is definitely worth it
YESSSSAAAW ITS BEN! TOM AND BEN!
The start of this one was brutal but super hilarious. Love the player's characters and the NPC's! The setting is very cool too. Very excited to see where this is going :D
Easily becoming my favourite channel
Wow MotherShip awesome stuff Tom, I love these short campaigns showing off new systems.
This is an unexpected surprise in my recommendations, last time I watched these lads they were making a jaffa cake factory in Minecraft
Amazing to watch Lewis be normal for once.
This setting so cool. I cant wait for the next part.
Ben channeling Lewis in his leadership role at the start there 😂
I'm at comic con at the mo, will watch this when I get home! Looking forward to it!
*This is a comment, for the Angorythm*
Having seen the members video, I highly suggest joining!! Excellent content that is more than just "the same thing with more bits". Love the video thanks again Tom and all involved
I think this is the third or fourth time I’m rewatching the Ypsilon series
I love mystery quest. I'm so glad its weekly
Pretty cool that there's some gamer representation on the crew in the form of Kintaru.
Feel like Tom is getting more and more into the intro stories each time, and I’m here for it.
been out drinking for 6 hours, and I come home at 2 only to be met by an hour of great content, what a day
It's time for a mystery quest!
This channel has made me go, "Mhhhhhhmm, what is this?" more times than any other. thanks to all the other members. thanks to tommy.
Here for Lewis' mustache.
Love seeing Lewis and Simon(with everyone else!) makes my heart smile 😁
This has become the highlight of my week 😌
Didn't realize Mothership could run Red Dwarf.
Super tom you save my day thank you :DDD
saw the cast for this one and was like god this going to be best most amazing mess ever
i was half expecting simon to be playing Doctor Grizzwald
What a banger of a first episode in this game. The characters are already forming so well!
I live for Toms mystery quest intros 🙌
Great start to the campaign
Love the references, and oh boy, that I hope that Soylent red isn't made out of the same thing as Soylent green. 😂
wow, Mothership, a horror scifi rpg?? I can't wait to see how they completly turn the horror aspect into goofy fun xD
Concept: having the intros related to the game would be a fun idea, whether a preview of it’s content or just staying in the same genre (so for instance with this episode, a sci fi intro).
However, I could very easily see people saying they prefer how it’s done now, so I’ll just share my idea-and it’s not necessarily a suggestion.
Highly recommend listening to this with headphones, not only do you get the casts dulcet tones, but you get SPACE NOISE PANNING THROUGH YOUR BRAIN.
Lovely stuff
Really looking forward to this, game system seems pretty harsh so it’s only a matter of time until Simon is playing as a duck again
Yooooooooo super excited to see Mothership from some of my favorite youtubers. I had a bit of trouble with the system so it's great seeing live plays to see how it goes for others.
Well done Tom, truly a stroke of genius
I'm very excited for the episode when Lewis flies off the handle and breaks his android persona.
fantastic sound design (as usual)!
I love this channel so much. Been so starved of Yog TTRPG content that I binged every video on this channel and now I'm hungry for more
loving it! Thankyou for more content!
