40 whole minutes of gungeon unused content. Dear. God.
Add on: the “monster ball” and “moster sphere” was likely removed due to it’s EXTREMELY HIGH resemblance to an item from The Binding Of Isaac Rebirth, of a similar name. They both work the same: throw at enemy, they become charmed, throw it out.
Add on 2: The Wonder Scroll “the one with a supposedly random effect” is also likely a reference to a Binding of Isaac Rebirth item, “Dead Sea Scrolls”, which, when used, has a random effect.
Add on 3: I think that box red and box green are like active versions of the ammo boxes, maybe?
Add on 4: Car Battery is likely a reference to the Binding of Isaac Rebirth item, car battery, that lets you charge, and use, an active item twice.
Add on 5: While the idea of the elite badge mentioned in the video is probably right, I feel it might be something along the lines of “increased curse but just a flat damage increase aswell”
Add on 6: I know, I’m a Binding of Isaac freak, but, halo, in the Binding of Isaac (with a very similar sprite), is an all stats up. Maybe the halo in gungeon would’ve been similar?
Add on 7: the leaf item, resembles “gnawed leaf”, an item from (guess what game) The Binding of Isaac, that makes the player invincible while standing perfectly still.
Add on 8: the “pouches” item looks a lot like the holster item.
Add on 9: Ring of boomerang mastery may have been similar to the *Binding of Isaac item*, broken mirror, which makes projectiles arc towards the player as if the player had immense gravity
Add on 10: Training droid would have likely been like the familiar that spawns when you use that one specific rocket launcher (I forgot it’s name), where it would orbit you and occasionally shoot at enemies.

A wonderful collection of unused content!
Here's some of the references that may or may not be accurate
The "Climbing Glove" is a reference to the item of the same name in Spelunky
The "Gun Stop Credit Chit" isn't misspelled, "Chit" is a real term used for a voucher of sorts
The "Leaf" may be a reference to the "Gnawed leaf" from BoI or from Animal Crossing.
The strange green "V" of "Master Exploder" is likely an old-school armor pickup from games like DOOM or Serious Sam
The "Ring of Invisibility" is likely plain to look similar to the One Ring from Lord of the Rings
The "Time Code Tattoo" is a reference to at least Futurama, where a character discovers a tattoo that allows time travel
the "Training Droid" is likely a reference to the original Star Wars film
A "Reversed Polarity Sonic Screwdriver" likely has an opposite of reversed effect to a Sonic Screwdriver... which is anything apparently
The "Killamajig" appears similar to the illustrations of Dr. Seuss and has a related-ly absurd name
The "Deposit Key" may be a reference to an item in Risk of Rain which adds an additional chest to every level
The "Cartographers Assistant" appears somewhat visually similar to a Ghost from Destiny
"Bloo Blood" may be named such because it could use Goo, or because "Bloo" is blood misspelled

Wow that secret message around 2:56 is really cool, could this be hinting at an ARG? We just have to check the link in the secret to find out.
Cleets and Gloves are probably a reference to Spelunky, and the candy as well as some other graphics look old (in my opinion) because they have a completely different style than the rest of the items. This is also supported by the fact that the candy charges by room, which means at some point in development it was probably just a tBoI ripoff, or something of the sort.
The winged powerup sprites are a reference to the game Contra.
The summoning book is a reference to ye olden Final Fantasy games where green orbs would come from your player when you summoned something.
The T Stopper is a reference to the Megaman Weapon of course.
Training Droid is an obvious reference to Star Wars.

30:04 The "T. Stopper" Is likely a prototype of a feature that actually was implemented. The "Get Equipped With -F-" Synergy for the Megahand is actually based on a weapon from Mega Man 2. That weapon was the Time Stopper, and four pointed stars/sparkle effects are associated with it, so this might have been how they initially had it work, as an Active, rather than changing the Megahand Weapon by reloading while at full ammo.

Scary Mask is an obvious nod to Red from the Creepypasta NES Godzilla, where red was the main antagonist of the Creepypasta. It could have many uses, but I believe its an reskined version of Bullet Idol, only it gives curse as well. It could be a reference to Halloween masks as well, but all I know is that it's a reference to the Creepypasta.

The 'Next Quarter' would be completely opaque to anyone who didn't experience the Golden Age of Arcades.
When people were playing a game, you'd place your quarter up on the machine to signify that 'you got next.' No quarter on the cabinet, no place in line. Arcade cultures would deal with rulebreakers harshly.

18:26 Based on all the other MGS references in Gungeon it likely would've been a reference to Metal Gear Solid 2, where you can collect the dogtags of enemy guards by holding them up and threatening them.
20:15 Another MGS reference. It resembles the insignia of the fictional special forces group FOXHOUND and it's name is probably a reference to FOXDIE,
which is a fictional virus that targets specific people based on DNA.
15:47 The messages are a refernce to Dark Souls where with the Orange (Sign?) Soapstone item you can write simple messages that can be seen by other players.
(It would probably spawn signs near chest rooms to tell you where chests are, and possibly even some misleading messages)
28:53 Another Dark Souls reference. Consumable soul items have similar names(eg.: Soul of Lost Undead)

Hey, you wanted a big comment with some of the references you missed, right?
I'm pretty sure "Blast Eddie" from the Cue Bullet description is the Gungeon version of "Fast" Eddie Felson from The Hustler and The Colour of Money.
The Scroll of Wonder is probably a reference to the Wand of Wonder from D&D, which has a bunch of random effects, from turning you blue to petrifying your enemies.
GunStop Credit Chit isn't a typo - "chit" is an older word for "IOU" so it would represent taking a gun back to GunStop for store credit.
The green V from Master Exploder is definitely the Pick of Destiny from the Tenacious D movie.
Next Quarter isn't about financial quarters, it's about arcades - if someone was playing a game you wanted to have a go at, you'd put a coin on the edge of the machine to let them know. I think in America they might have said "next quarter" which they were doing that? So maybe that item would let you continue your run as another character or something.
Powerup (the last 2 with the wings) looks a lot like the ones from Contra.
Presumably the Sonic Screwdriver is Reversed Polarity because it breaks things, rather than fixing things like a screwdriver should.
Time Code Tattoo is a Futurama reference, specifically the movie Bender's Big Score.
The P on the Strategy Guide might be for Prima, the company that made all those strategy guides that game stores would try to upsell you on when you pre-ordered.

\/ My ideas on some of the items w/o Ammonomicon entries.
The Ice pack looks like an early version of the Ice Cube? That sounds reasonable, no?
The Leaf looks like it's a leaf that would've been on top of a tanuki, and I can only assume that it'd do the same as the gnawed leaf from isaac.
Pouches looks like it maybe could be a development version of the Pilot's hidden compartment?
The Scary mask might've done something to lower aggresion or prevent some weaker enemies from attacking you. Though that doesn't make as much sense in gungeon.
The Smart Bullets looks like a development version of the Homing Bullets present in the Gungeon.
The Terrible Ammo Bag and Terrible Leather Jacket honestly feel like some kind of version of the PAYDAY crossover items? Like, an ammo bag that increases ammo drops but at the cost of dropping them when you get hit, and the Terrible Leather Jacket letting you gain idk gang members.
You think the treasure map is related to the resourceful rat in any way?
