Thank you for actually analyzing the lyrics and absorbing the melancholy despite the upbeat tone of the song; most reactors just focus on how “fun” the song feels without acknowledging the juxtaposition. You earned a sub, as you’ve articulated exactly why this is my favorite song of all time

The companion song, "I know you're out there somewhere" is nice too and talks about unrequited or first loves. In reality, Justin Hayward, who wrote and sings both songs has been married to the same lady for over 50 years. The same with bassist John Lodge.

In my opinion, this is the best music video ever made. It tells the actual story of the lyrics and also is a retrospective from the early Moody Blues to their latest hit, which is decades long.

Thanks for another great reaction to an amazing song by the Moodies! This was a Top 10 hit for the Moody Blues in 1986, and the video was a huge hit as well. It was such a success that two years later they made a sequel to the video called, "I Know You're Out There Somewhere," and that was a top 40 hit as well. Definitely worth checking out. Thanks for all great videos!

I think the lyric: "...When the music plays, I hear the sound I had to follow.." explains what happened to the couple. He chose the band and its future over the girl and their future. Perhaps it was a mutual thing. Perhaps she knew she couldn't compete, grew tired of competing, or didn't want to sit aound waiting for him as he went off touring all the time. Maybe she didn't want to play second fiddle to the band and his career.

"Your Wildest Dreams" is the opening track off their 1986 album, 'The Other Side of Life.' Another beautiful Justin Hayward song. It is indeed about remembering the past and wondering. The song is part 1 and the sequel is the opening track, "I Know You're Out There Somewhere," off their next album, 'Sur La Mer,' released in 1988.

I find it interesting that the song is written from the perspective of the singer, "I wonder where you are. I wonder if you still remember." But the video is all about the perspective of the woman, where she is, her family, her memories, her regrets. It seems disjointed like that.

Great pick Harri, and excellent reading of the song. I think the dancing scenes were there to show the permanent draw of music, where he remained and she left, for better or worse. And you didn't notice...Elton John had a cameo!!!! Now go listen to the _long_(9 minutes or so), album version of Tuesday Afternoon, I think their greatest song. If you don't hear, "Evening time to get away..." you haven't gotten to the best part at the end. Cheers!!

I bought a Moody Blues tour tee shirt for $30 (which was a huge amount back then) and I still have it.

The Moody Blues took some heat during their early to mid-'80s comeback for copying the early-'80s ELO sound, and this was one of the tracks critics pointed to. Although the song that really screams "ELO" is The Moody Blues hit from that same comeback era, "Gemini Dream", which if you put Jeff on lead vocals you'd bet the farm it was ELO. The Moodys had fizzled out after about 1974, and so I can't blame them for being influenced by one of the biggest hit machines of the mid to late '70s in ELO, and I obviously love ELO so I didn't mind the similarity. Nice pick & reaction, to J.K. & Harri.
