I saw them in the early 70s and was blown away by the way they could duplicate their recorded sound live in an era before processing effects were invented. Nobody else could do that. Not the Stones, the Who, ELO or Zeppelin. The Moodys were great.

Have seen these guys live four times dating back to the mid-1990’s. Every show was stunning. My one regret was that I could not see them at their famous show with the Colorado Symphony at Red Rocks Amphitheater near Denver that was recorded and released. I live about 15 minutes from there, and have seen many other amazing concerts there including the Doobie Brothers and The Steve Miller Band. Among others.

Thanks Harri, I was hoping you would follow up "Your Wildest Dreams" with this video. As you shared, these videos pack a powerful emotional punch, and both songs are great examples of the great music the Moodies can make. The Moody Blues are a great band, but they also are also "Long Distance Voyagers," time travelers who can take you back in time. Whether its time traveling back to the Middle Ages ("Nights in White Satin," "Are You Sitting Comfortably") or back to your own past and reminiscing about long lost loves ("Your Wildest Dreams", "I Know You're Out There Somewhere") the Moody Blues always showed us that thinking is "The Best Way to Travel!"

Hi Harri, like a lot of other groups who were successful during the 1970's (Fleetwood Mac, Heart, etc. ...), The Moody Blues were fortunate to experience a renaissance in their careers during the 1980's. During their 1967-1978 period, the lineup consisted of Justin Hayward (vocals, guitar), John Lodge (vocals, bass), Ray Thomas (vocals, flute), Mike Pinder (vocals, mellotron/piano/keyboards), and Graeme Edge (drums/percussion). Their music during this period had a psychedelic/orchestral rock sound as heard in songs like Nights in White Satin, , Tuesday Afternoon, Question, etc. and was heavily influenced by the mellotron, flute and multi-part vocal harmonies. With the departure of Mike Pinder in 1978, The Moody Blues reinvented their sound, becoming more of a pop/rock band beginning with their 1981 Long Distance Voyager album (The Voice), 1983's The Present, 1986's The Other Side of Life (Your Wildest Dreams), 1988's Sur la Mer (I Know You're Out There Somewhere) to 1991's Keys of the Kingdom. While my favorite Moodies music was produced during the earlier period, I do like a lot of their 1980's music and recognize that their sound had to change to keep up with the times. These 1980's hits brought them a whole new audience that stayed with them throughout much of their career. Glad they finally received the recognition they deserved with their long overdue induction into the RRHOF in 2018. RIP to long-time Moody Blues members Ray Thomas and Graeme Edge. Cheers.

This is the first song off the 1988 album 'Sur La Mer'. I played that album to death on a holiday in Greece this year, sur la mer of course. The first Moodies album I bought on that new-fangled CD format. Had my little portable CD player, batteries would last about two plays before needing a six-hour recharge.
Please take a listen to the last song on the album. It's called 'Deep'. It's very different, a dark, deep, slow, sexy song by Justin, and the guitar work between him and John Lodge towards the end brings tears to my eyes. It's my very favourite Moody Blues song.
