Gotta disagree with you here. At least I knew that the Wii U was a product. I thought the N64 trailer was a Virtual Boy concept video or some sort-of graphics partnership that never materialized. I only realized that was for a console when I saw the GBA trailer start and thought the uploader forgot the N64 trailer.

Definitely made me think about the comment I made back in 2010 when the Wii U was announced. My younger self called it, "A wii with HD graphics". When I look back on the comment I made, it definitely still holds up true to this day.

It never struggled because of the console itself, if anything that was the best part of it. It didnt do well because it didnt have the games so there wasnt much incentive to buy one.

It was probably like a concept trailer of what the 64 can do.
yeah some of these were not TV commercials, they would've used them pretty early on for trade shows, sent to stakeholders, etc.
Project Reality was the original code name for N64. The actual system was probably in the prototype stage during the time the video was made.
Who Else But Zane ? The N64 had many names during development. Project Reality was probably its first alias before they moved on to Ultra 64 and finalized it with Nintendo 64.
It was gonna be PlayStation but they bailed out and went with something way different than ps1.
I specifically remember seeing the Switch trailer the day it came out in science class. I got the whole class(teacher included) sidetracked talking about it.

The Switch's one is just so awesome... it isn't cheesy, it shows exactly what the console is, they flashed the name up several times so that NO ONE can get confused about what this is and Jesus Christ I have had that song in my head for the last month... It wins on all counts and the massive interest in it and the hype it has generated is really testament to that.

It's weird how much the marketing aim for Nintendo changed. It kinda shows how the market has changed tremendously.
NES, SNES, and Gameboy all appealed to hardcore gamers. The N64 was misleading, the Game Boy Advance was boring, the DS was weird, the Wii was on point (pun intended), the 3DS concept was right in front of you (pun intended), the Wii U literally looked like an add-on for the Wii seeing how they showed Wii Sports and only said "New Controller", and the Switch tried to appeal to all gamers.

Is it just me or the Wii U is a DS and the top screen is a tv and the bottom screen is the gamepad
Anyone notice how the Switch is the only trailer that actually shows off the use you'll get out of it? for example the Wii is greatly exaggerated and wasn't even like that and the Wii U well, really no one used it like that. I feel with the Switch they wanted to promote it in ways you'll actually use it. Let's just say though the worst was the Wii U the marketing for that thing was terrible.

Wii U was so much better than the wii. Easier interface, still used the old one, so much better graphics.

To the people wondering why I didn't include the Virtual Boy and the GameBoy Color. The Virtual Boy was not in the video because it was a huge failure and, in my opinion, doesn't deserve to be counted. The GBC was just an upgrade from the original GameBoy, simular to how the DSi is a slight upgrade from the DS and the New3DS is an upgrade from the 3DS. In my opinion, the true successor to the GameBoy was the GBA. Also, I would like to apologize for not including the Game and Watch, which some people pointed out. Anyway, thank you all for over 29,000 views. You guys are the best! 😀

Damien Green it's a pretty early n64 trailer and they mention it a few times as project reality. That was the code name of the 64 during development.

99% of N64 games were 32 bit, to conserve memory
kargaroc386 do you have proof of that? Because last time I checked the console was 64 bits. Putting games with only 32 bits and the system can't be used to its fullest potential.
The N64 has 4 MB of RAM. Storing numbers with 64 bits when they only need 16 or 32 bits is wasting precious memory.
Also, the RAM was serial RAM, so using less bits actually made it faster.

YOU UNLOCK JUST AS MUCH IN GAME AS YOU WOULD NORMALLY, YOU CAN GET MORE CONTENT THAN A NORMAL AMOUNT THROUGH DLC. at least it's how it works in Nintendo. Example: Mario kart 8. Mario kart 8 has the same amount of characters, courses, and karts as any other Mario kart. But you can multiply it by 1.5 through the dlc. Without dlc, it's still the standard Mario kart experience.

I did not know you could do all of that with the WiiU. I had it for two years, and mostly just play Zelda: Twilight Princess on the gamepad and play older games with the virtual system on it.
