Nintendo has had so many downs because they are not afraid to experiment, unlike Xbox and Playstation. Xbox and Playstation are popular consoles because they stick with what they know has worked before and heavily improve on it more and more. Nintendo just takes a different approach than them where they constantly try new things they've never tried before, no matter the risk of it completely failing, out of curiosity.
I say go for Xbox or Playstation if you want a console that is a good console by purely objective standards, and go for Nintendo if you want a console that is unique and has ups and downs to it that no other console has. I trust Xbox and Playstation if I want the best when it comes to measurable standards (frame rate, memory, graphics, security, etc.) and I trust Nintendo if I want a unique and innovative experience other consoles cannot give me, like handheld consoles.

@Carver Ze Derp I had assumed that there would be a DS/3DS slot on the system or add on like the Super Gameboy but they never took advantage of both their products that dual screens. Meanwhile, homebrew hacks make that possible. Marketing for the Wii U was horrible, but Im one to believe that if the Wii U had DS functionality, the Wii U would have sold many being that the DS/3DS had such a high install base. Even with some households having 2 or more DS/3DS handhelds.

I played the other versions on the other systems as well. I then asked about a year or two later Santa for a blue DS Lite, and a few years later I got the DS i XL which was a surprise present from my grandma. And when I graduated from middle school, my grandma got me the Wii as a graduation present. I eventually also got the 2DS only because it was slightly cheaper and now I have the Nintendo Switch. I still love them all and Nintendo to this day! Animal Crossing, Super Mario Bros., MARIOKART, MARIO PARTY, and all the other classics are still my favorite to this day. I bought the 8-bit NES/16-bit SNES and N64 and three separate everdrive cartridges and now have every game on a single sd card with one full-time cartridge plugged into each system playing original ROM content. No virtual/simulated emulator crap. I love it. Never could afford all the games and now having it all one SD card for each system... heaven. all connected to a Sony PVM-14M2U

I'm excited for next new console from Nintendo. At the same time, I'm a little bit worried if they totally change from switch, since I love switch so much. I just hope they don't change anything, but just increase the graphic. Everything else is perfect already.

Well like many other consoles at the time, it really wasn’t a necessity. Future consoles will probably scrap the idea all together as it takes up for hardware which could be used for other things.

When Nintendo and Sega were at war with each other, they made their perfectly-chosen iconic mascot characters: Mario, a plumber of intellect rounds of adventure and Sonic, an anthropomorphic blue hedgehog who can run at supersonic speed and lacks the attempt to swim underwater. Soon, they befriended with a truce and commemorated the Olympic Summer and Winter Games for them and their friends and foes.
