This was my introduction to single malt, 25 years ago, I find that it likely has changed in the past dozen years, at last to my palate. I always quite liked it, and it is a 'house' bottle at my place that rotates with Highland Park. But I find the Doublewood still slightly sweet, smooth, with a crisp finish that lingers just a little with a quick burn. Easy to drink and even though I 'know' my palate now and enjoy other perhaps more sophisticated singles, Doublewood is still welcome. This, Oban 14, and Gelnmorangie 18 have never failed me. Royal Brackla, before the fire, was I think on par. I found a bottle in the last few years after they reopened and sadly it does not match my memory. Still, the Doublewood is a go-to for me and if it's on the shelf at a bar, I know they at least try to care about the single malt selection.
