@@Tngoz Ok, thanks. Won't be around there anytime soon. Lowest I found it in areas that I goto is $50 total (no sales tax on booz there)... Anyway, actually never had the Rare Breed yet & wanted to ask people how much different/better is it than the WT101?
This year got a bunch of the 101 when found the 1.75L for $32.50 total, or $13.93/750mL. So was not in a rush to pay 3-4Xs for something that may be the same thing, just 10-15 proof higher. Would probably cost less to figure out how to remove water from the 101 & make it 115P, hah..
Yeah, so not sure if Rare Breed is aged any longer or selected from different barrels than 101. That would make some difference.

Good list! Not a big fan of the Old Forester, except for the 1897 but definitely with you on the Knob Creek!
Solid list. Love the Jim Beam Black and Knob Creek. Out of all the whiskey's I've enjoyed over the decades, JP Wiser's hits all the right spots for me including my wallet and is my #1. At $31.15 CAD/bottle I always have a few of each on hand (special blend, apple, and vanilla).
Still Austin is doing slow water reduction so they basically re-add water to barrels so they don’t lose water so fast in the Texas heat. I think that’s the difference in flavor you get and it really tastes great!

I was watching a completely unrelated video (about space), stopped in the middle to run errands. On those errands I grabbed a bottle of Knob Creek SB Select store pick. Came home, finished video, in the suggested videos was this video's thumbnail featuring the exact bottle I had just bought. Serendipity. I then watch said video and it's a veritable list of all my favorites since I'm such a toasted and double oaked fan. I'm just pointing at the screen nodding for the most part. Cheers!
Just got the Jim Beam Black 7 Year this weekend very good solid 90 proof
Glad to see my all time favorite Bourban made it on the list-Old Forester 1920!
Some hitters I'd toss in are Old Grand Dad 114, Benchmark Full Proof, and New Riff single barrel bourbon. My bottle of Knob Creek 120 proof was kind of harsh at first, but after a week or so of opening up the bite really mellowed out and now it's delicious.
OGD 114 & Bonded are fantastic, but what hurts them from being on the value list (at least the Bonded) is that they are not available in the 1.75L size. Bonded has 1L in some states, but 114 is 750mL only.
Love the list!!! Haven’t had Still Austin though. That Jim Beam Black 7 year is a bargain banger!!! I put it up there with my favorite bargain banger WT101.
So I hate JB white & DO as do lots of people. Though I love WT, Knob Creek line, OGD line. Is there any chance I would like the new Jim Beam 7yr?

Love wild turkey 101 and the Still Austin cask strength is excellent. I would have also included Jack Daniels Single barrel barrel proof and the barrel proof Ryes are always excellent.
Bought some Viski whiskey glasses based on this reco and I have to admit they are great. I feel the aroma and flavor is enhanced and weight/balance is perfect.

Sagamore DO is a Banger sleeper.....on sale in my area for $49. Great juice.
I second Old Forster 1920 and Knob Creek SB, which doesn’t have to be a store pick. I like Wild Turkeys 101 and Rare Breed, what I prefer though is use that money to buy me Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel, very nice experience and much more complex and enjoyable. Cheers!

Still Austin has so much potential. It just needs another year in the barrel to mellow out the grain/youthful notes. I still like the cask strength. It just needs that little bit extra time.

The only bottle on this list that I don't currently have is the Still Austin, and you're right on the money on all of them.
I love the Penelope Toasted but all of their juice is great. I am enjoying the Architect now.
Balcones pot still bourbon is one of my favorites. Anything in the balcones line is amazing, but their pot still is my favorite.

Great video y'all & even better pull on the Sagamore Double Oaked! My buddies & I had a chance to tour the Sagamore distillery up in Baltimore & highly recommend the experience. Learning about the impact of their local grain sourcing in Maryland & their limestone water filtration process was fascinating. The combo of caramel & toasted coconut note on that one is a personal favorite. Hoping my next #bangforyourbuck pour is in that HOLD FAST #viski glass

Everybody's different. A lot of people like Maker's 46 but, I get a good flavor from it, but on the nose I get a fingernail polish remover that is hard for me to get past. Rare Breed is one I don't let myself run out of. I'm also a big fan of double oaks. I also love Ryes. One of my favorite farm distilleries is coming out with a new rye this summer, and I just happen to be visiting the area when the release is happening. I am definitely booking a tour, and tasting.

From what I remember I get a candied apple note from Rare Breed. Regardless 101 and rare breed is definitely good bang for your buck.
I go between 1920 and 1910 when it comes to Old Forester.
Another budget daily I get is Elijah Craig Small Batch. It’s a trusty rusty when I walk in to the store and want something besides Wild Turkey 101.

If you haven’t had the Jack Sinatra. Should give it a try. Not budget friendly but good.

I agree with all the picks except for Penelop toasted at the $70 range. Ain't no way, for me that is. Every thing else....yes.

You have to try Amruth amalgam malt whisky! You won't regret it. It's affordable as well.
Early Times if you can find it in TN is around 30 to 35 a bottle. Its a great bottle

spot on...that new jim beam 7 year is insane for the price. but the best value for the buck is for sure knob creek sb picks..however im shocked there was no Makers Mark store pick on here as around 110 ish proof and priced well makes my top 10 for sure!!! Cheers
