Man this keeps getting more and more hilarious - there you were , saying rightfully , it'd be appropriate to correct the mistakes in another video - and here he is feeling attacked and couldn't even admit mistakes nor take a light roast . he doesn't seem to have the slightest sense of selfirony (quite literally) . I'm in no way literated enough to point out most facts but even me and a massive number of other casual-viewer noticed from what they've heard before , that a tone of contend was completely misleading and people like Skall showed amazingly that barely anything was factchecked. wow ... Well the first 30 seconds of this video certainly left me questioning several things in life.
The best part about Game Theory's video is that I then watched about a dozen other videos thoroughly debunking everything about it, and I found a whole bunch of interesting channels with great videos to subscribe to.

Not sad, but dangerous. I firmly believe that when one has an audience, be it 1 person alone, one has a certain responsibility on what you pass as fact and what as fiction.
And the bigger the audience, the greater the responsibility.
Matías Tonazzi as long as there were ways to spread information to a large group of people, the opposite was true. His video is clearly made to namedrop For Honor and spin it as something kinda legitimate. Probably for a small cut of Ubisoft's marketing budget.
I can respect well-crafted mass deception for personal gain.

Still, seems it's a fact he got money from Ubisoft. My main gripe was that he said "historical analysis" and presented those fiction minutia as facts.
Had he said simply "analysis", where most would probably assume he talks in-game (I for one, would have done so) wouldn't have batted an eye at it.
Matías Tonazzi his conclusions and logic had pretty much nothing to do with the game either. I mean, there's no mounted combat in it, nobody uses 11th century arms and armor. The game is supposed to be balanced, so no "race" can possibly be that much superior, other than through player's own skill. I bet the samurai were chosen as winners just because they are statistically more popular among his watchers.

Always fun to see Matpats poorly researched "theories" beeing "debunked". I think especially the regarding video bothered a lot of people based on the fact that it's not just based on the usual fantasy hokus pokus that he regulary covers - which is fun and usually has it's right to exist none the less, at least for a comedic fact. Seeing a respond from YOU made me crack up, you really dealed with it very fair as well :D keep Rocking 'Path :)

Yes exactly , but to be fair, even if i'd be marked it as "fantasy" it'd be barely comprehensible. He has his way with putting all he says as a fact while constantly misinforming his viewers, which probably bothers me the most. In the end he is another entertainment channel (an annoying one tbh)- not a Science- one -

The spread of misinformation is bad enough, but combined with a refusal to accept when you've been corrected, and a refusal to FIX the problem after the fact is especially agitating. As pointed out in the video, it is the equivilent of Exterminatus, nothing was left untouched.
Each one specialising in a certain area and defering to the others (as good historians do) when it reach an area they were unfamiliar with but knew one of the others had greater knowledge on (Shadi mentioning both of the others in his video since he was more knowledgeable on knights).

Code of bullshido is strong with both Mat and Alan. There wasn't just one code whatsoever, each lord had their own ideas. The common one was fealty and requirement for service when called.
It's like that fake news phenomenon where you only spot mistakes, misinformation and shallow takes where you understand the subject and take them as true where you don't.
MatPat is an entertainer, so he does the same darn thing every news outlet nowadays makes. But at least these do print letter to editor while that response... I've nothing to say.

Many things are depicted reasonably correctly, for example the quarrels and finally obedience of the knight to the lord. Feudal society up to the top, and then to God. That a knight should be good in a fight. (Duh, he's supposed to be a professional soldier.) Shows a judicial duel too. Conversions made at the sword point.
Also shown is foolhardiness of some (Roland = big vain), treachery of others (Ganelon). How to kiss up to the ruler (how Charlemagne is depicted). Some valor. Much massacre and brutality. Faith of then contemporary Christian knights and misperception of Muslims.

It's not a code, it's culture, it has changed over time and varied in different places. There is no actual code as in codex.
Acting decently is pretty obvious, like is acting well in formal situations. Some knights weren't good at these things. And thus not invited - but they still were used in warfare. Likewise a typical rule was to not engage the parlay or diplomats but it has been broken here and there.
Compare a XIV Swedish knight with a XIV German knight, a XIV French knight and a XIV Teutonic knight. Very different motivations and approaches.
Now in Japan we can maybe find one shared code because it was very uniform culturally at some times. Not so in Europe.
While I agree with your views on the diversity of knightly cultures, I think you're still missing the point. ;)

There is a difference between misinformation and lies good sir, one is merely being wrong and the other is willfully misinforming when the speaker knows otherwise. MatPat's video was not well researched, but I do not feel he intentionally lied.
Oh, that's just what I implied. The first video was clearly misinformed and born of ignorance. But the second one? He was fully aware of how bad his research was, and did little to improve it, thus intentionally commiting an act of misinformation. :)
Or possibly born tight deadlines, many of the mistakes he made are common misconceptions, some of which other expert youtubers were operating under for some time ( For example, gambesons for which Shadiversity admits he had been wrong about for a long time). If you have evidence of him purposefully telling lies then that would be excellent, otherwise it would be wise to remember it is hard to tell what is going on in another man's life or mind.
BTW, you may want to watch Shadiversity's video on the knightly code of conduct. It is not as unified or moral as you make it out to be. Have a good afternoon.

Agreed, it does not excuse repeating misconceptions. But it will occur (just ask Shad), and the fact they occur does not automatically make them lies just merely incorrect. I agree that ideally MatPat will apologize for the misinformation and give a shout out the Shadiversity, Skallagrim, and Metatron, but that is all I will be looking for.
Yes they were, some preached forbearance and self-control in the face of the enemy. Others preached generosity and understanding. I am curious if The Song of Roland mentions those virtues in the code it describes.
