Gladiator is my main, and I just love how free he feels. He feels smooth and agile, which I like.
He is a glider for sure! That's one of the reasons I love Nobushi. There's a flow to her I love. Do you also like Shinobi, Afeera, or Orochi. They all are very agile but different. Shaman is too but seems more rugged lol.

In the beginning I kept forcing myself to learn Lawbringer but ended up comfortable with Nobushi as well.

I have never seen your channel before this video was recommended, but I think your advice is accurate! I have been playing since y1 and I still main Conqueror and Valkyrie as my duo characters to switch between. They may not have the greatest fashion in the roster, but I make do. The playstyle is what spoke to me, and continues to speak to me 6 year later
Love seeing the Y1 old heads in here. I'm y1 too. I honestly didn't start making videos on FH until late 2021 because I felt it was dying and I just wanted to do a little to keep it alive. No matter if 1, 10, or 100 people see the video.

@@MisterArdor gotta say, Y1 was fun. Assassins feel much better to play now (I’ve mained orochi gladiator and berserker since years) but I’ve recently been enjoying branching out to others. Picked up Warmommy a bit aswell as several others like BP, warlord etc

In particular, I think if you’re looking at a new main, the best thing you can do is understand what your bread and butter mixups and tools are and remember to focus on using those. For example, Orochi’s deflects are cool, but trying super hard to learn those when you haven’t practiced using his kick/storm rush mixup or unblockable finisher is gonna lead to frustration. Focus on the most important parts of each character first and then start to experiment with other tools in their kit.

You're 100% correct! Great advice! That's how I feel with Nobu, HS looks cool, but when you're going against a hero with uninterruptable ability/hyper armor you have to use her dodge cancels and not just hs to your advantage. Nothing like a sexy deflect though 😂

What made me pick my main was actually my ancestry. I've got Scottish heritage so I started playing Highlander. It was a struggle at first because I was a noob and only used to Kensei, but now I can't imagine maining anyone else. I love being a hyperarmored menace to society lol
Awesome stuff! The gravitation to Highlander makes sense. Did you like the Testing Ground changes? Not live yet, but they could be in a quarter or two
@@MisterArdor Overall I did, especially the hyperarmor on zone. The speed increase on the heavies is kind of a double edged sword, it'll be good to be able to capitalize on GBs easier but personally I had an easier time parrying them now since it's more similar to other heroes' heavies. Feintable kick, feint into offensive, and dodge grab are nice too
With the walkspeed increase maybe Highlanders will be able to use other first feats too lol

I see so few nobu mains! She was the first hero I bought back when I got the game, and I just stuck with her because I find her very elegant and her playstile is satisfying to me.
But when the shaman came out, I fell in love again. She's a literal goblin and I love her for that. I had so much fun with her executions and personality that she became my second main.

I used to think Shinobi was boring with the old playstyle, with this new one, I can’t stop playing. It got to the point that I wasn’t able to play for a few days because I was busy with work and I was itching to play so bad I started DREAMING about playing for honor again.
i remember when i first picked up the game right before marching fire when it was free with xbox live gold. i was immediately attracted to shugoki back when the one shot hug was a thing and the rest of his kit was bad. i stuck with him and now he's pretty good and he's the only hero i trust to go into ranked with and he got me to grandmaster on xbox when i was at my peak for honor skill and now still keeps me at a solid diamond ranking on pc because i learned all of his little tricks and now all of his matchups so well that even my bad matchups are still doable and i get away with stuff that i have no right getting away with due to knowing all his little technicalities that no one even thinks of. i even manage to pull off some mix-ups that I've never even seen another shugoki do in all my years of playing because people don't think that far with him because they think he's too simple for some of them.

Shaolin Bp main but I’ve played most of them it’s definitely a good way to understand how they work and be able to effectively fight against them
Just started playing this game like a week ago, and Lawbringer is the biggest case of “its a 10 but I suck at the playstyle” I’ve ever seen, I’m trying some new characters (I havent bought any beyond the base game), but so far I’m loving Conquerer a lot. I love being a raging angry jerk with a flail lol

It's good you're trying out other heroes. Make sure you try them all for for free since you can, just not PvP. Have you tried Black Prior? He might be a Knight that works for you. You might like Shugoki or even Jorm from other factions as well. It's a fun game that the more you understand, the more fun and occasionally frustrating it gets. Broooo the part about having to get to rep 9 level 20 to just understand the character you play is so true. I got to rep 10 with kyoshin and only then realized how to properly utilize him lmao. This game is something else.

personally I do have a main (highlander) but im aiming to have a similar level of experience in every character however unlikely that might be because of time constraints.
what decides how I feel about a character though is off of if they have a unique moveset that feels different, new, and flexible to me. for example, highlander with his two stances is fun for me because in duels I can condition someone to get used to me only using one form and then when they least expect it I have the opportunity to completely shift my play style and take advantage of my opponent having to change it up along with me and deal with new variables. I thought I would really vibrate with medjay because of their similarities but so far while he's very effective his stances feel too copy paste when it comes to inputs and it feels like changing stances isn't necessary while in the middle of a fight and maybe even a detriment since it seems (with my limited playtime with him) you're more vulnerable to attacks cuz you have less time to react after switching stances.
something fun ive been doing lately though has been put every hero i have (which is pretty much everybody but kyoshin and the outlanders -medjay) on a wheel and spin it before every match
B! The wheel spin is an awesome idea. Sometimes I don't know who I want to play and the timer clicks down amd I choose someone I don't wantto play. It's better to just take it out of my hands altogether 😂.
When you mentioned Highlander I was thinking Medjay might be for you but then you said what you said about his stances amd that's fair. I think you should continue to play him but they could flesh him out a bit more.
Nuxia is unique with her traps although the rest of her kit is kinda meh. Try her for a few reps if you haven't. Im so curious what this Viking hero is going to be coming in Q4! Thanks for watching! 🫡

"Is it fun to play this character even when I'm getting dogged on" that's pretty much what I go for, that's why I'm a Warden, Conqueror, Kensei, Orochi main, they all bring me joy even when I'm getting shit on, at least sometimes for sure
I played it on launch and loved it, but stopped playing after 2 months because I felt like I tried everything already.
And back in the day I used to play games, finish them and then continue.
So I also wasnt into multiplayer games.
But then a few weeks before Kyoshin came out I came back to the game because of the gameplay videos of Nova King.
Wich is also why my first charactor was Orochi and stayed my main until his rework, he is really fun BUT way too easy to use for me since his rework.
Thats why my new main is PK on rep 70 now.

For me I started out as a Kensei. I liked Kensei because he is simple with no cheese moves… looking at you Black Prior, Berserker, etc. A friend of mine and I joined For Honor at the same time and he was a Warden main.
My group of friends taught me how to play centurion for 14 or so reps before I fell in love with Peacekeeper. I just love to use her in matches. The thrill of fighting enemies bigger and stronger than I, the slow bleed, the pressure I can apply, the mobility. It's like a trip, really. I sprint over the battlefield, leaving corpses behind. I just feel really good when playing with Peacekeeper.
But I play other characters, too, like Warmonger, Jorm, Nobushi and Warden. Still play Centurion every now and then.
I think the character reworks were largely positive. I used to hate playing heroes like Shinobi, Tiandi, and Shigoki because of how inflexible their kit was. Now those 3 are in my top 5 of favs (#1 being gladiator and #2 being Afeera)

When i started to pkay this game back in 2017, i picked kensei and sticked to it ever since. Daimyo looking character AND uses nodachi? Sign me the hell up dawg. Now i am grinding him to 80
I feel this video, man. I became a lawbro main for the executions and the fashion. Same reason why I became a raider main too. And after the rework I played less lawbringer and started exploring the samurai faction a bit. In my heyday I played a lot of Raider, a lot of Lawbringer, some Shugoki, and a little bit of Warden, Kensei and Aramusha.
I stopped playing a few months after the Wu Lin were introduced (not having as much fun and the game takes up too much space on my hard-drive) but I've been missing the game recently and I'm going to try it out again. I might not get new mains (I won't buy the dlc), but I might fall in love with raider and lawbringer again, who knows.
@elmerzcosta Well let me be the first to say, welcome back! 🤝🏼 I would be surprised if you played a lot of Lawbringer because Lawbro mains were not completely happy with rework since he didn't get a chase move.
There are some good dlc heroes you should try depending on your playstyle. I would say give Medjay or Ocelotl a try. Varangian Guard was a good one from the start!

The first two characters I tried were Warden and Orochi. Never learned a thing with them xD the moment I started playing with Shugoki my gaming level rised and I actually learned a lot by playing shugo especially against more skilled players. Today shugo is just a nostalgia pick for me , I tend to go for Gryphon , some warden and I'm always surprised with my performanse with Nuxia , I think I could defenitely main her but.. idk I don't see myself playing her for too long (it's weird because I have so much fun with her) XD
I was a Lawbringer main. I remember the amazing feeling of being able to shut everything down and counterattack. His drip, his brutality and versatility really called to me. I don't main him anymore, because his kit now is just reaching that heavy finisher. It's boring to me. I feel like the devs ruined him. He's not objectively bad, it's an effective kit. It killed For Honor for me, I don't really play much anymore.
I started playing a few days ago only because I found out Gryphon exists and I love playing support in games, he's also got a big ass pole arm

I've been a lawbringer main since 2017 and is the hero i feel the most comfortable with but using other heroes does make the game fresh.

I belive you don't have to limit your main, it's alot of fun to have a few, because I wouldn't say you main all of them. Like 4 or 5 is a good amount to main. It then gives you other characters to learn, after mastering 3, 5, 7 or however many yall think 👍

I’m glad I choose nobu as a my main been playing since beta and the thing that caught me the most and sucked me into the character was hidden stance at the time it was very unique and no other character had something like that besides orochi her weapon and just the way she danced around everyone on the battle field just did it for me 80 reps on her later her fashion is still one of if not the best in the samurai faction even though she’s hated by most of the forhonor community she will always have a place in my heart

Rep 259 now and when i picked up the game i mained lawbringer then moved on to BP and got him around rep 10-11 and thats when i realized i was a kensei main, i fell in love with that character fr. All it takes is time to find your main and playing a variety of characters
My best advice is to try every character in the training range and see if you enjoy how their moveset feels as many characters feel super different due to infinite combos like pirate, shes a worlds difference from somebody like peacekeeper or nuxia. Also watch videos on youtube of a character’s high level fashion so you can see if that suits you aswell
I return after 2 Years break, test the last 2 Weeks all heros and now IAM Back by my old Love: Goki❤ (Shugoki), Hit Hard, Tank Hard. Fashion is good,BUT you must like the way to play. Knights have great fashion, but I feel they play to clunky ( warden)

When I chose my main it took me a while to settle on it. Ultimately, it was after I played a few characters, I noticed the things other players did that annoyed me, and settled on a character that countered those things more easily. The main thing was ganks and unblockable spam in ganks, so prior became my main.

I'm trying to decide on a main so I can stick to one character for 7+ reps and see how the game is affected once I start getting legendary gear for them. It'll take me forever to level anyone up that high if I keep bouncing around to different heroes.

Just to let people know if you’ve already tried everything and still don’t know take a step back and analyze yourself as a player. Do you like defense, offense, punishes, agility, speed. For me I love having very good offense which is why I settled on ocelotl, at first it was orochi bc I do love his agility and deflects are always fun but I find his fashion to be kinda lackluster since he only has like 3 good armor sets and so many people play him so most orochis look the same so I don’t play him as much anymore but every once in a while I bring him back.

I’m an “old for honor head” and my main was always orochi, with warden and then cent close seconds. After they reworked orochi and removed the heavy deflect, made him an OP spammer, then changed cent (he was op ngl, if you’re an og you’ll remember how busted he was) and warden gameplay kinda got stale, i didin’t feel my mains anymore and now I’m playing tiandi and got him to rep 2 and i’m having so much fun!

The worse part of discovering a new hero that you didn't play before is that you don't have all the cosmetics you would've had, if you knew what you know now, then. Nobushi was my first real main back in the day, chosen mainly because her poison sounded cool and didnt have a reflex guard like peacekeeper. After while, though, I thought it more useful to learn someone from each faction for dailies sake and moved on to valk, warbringer, and starting to learn medjay. I guess I just have a soft spot for hybrid classes (warbringer excluded, obviously. She was a free, playable Apollyon. I wasn't passing that up. She just happened to be fun lol)
This video is guuuuud, I remember when I first started off and my picks/factions were everywhere, got influenced by friends towards knights abit, but the one dude I always came back to was raider, goddamit I feel like people are straying away from this but it is still a foundation of the game, what faction is your favorite, cause seriously, no matter how much I got pushed into the "deus vult" stuff, I still craved the feeling and brutality on raider, the viiiibe of a character is e s s e n t i a l, prioritize fun over "effectiveness", cause sriously, even on high lvl lobbies, a good lawbringer can still be a menace
Deus Vult 🤣 yeah, never got into that. I started Knight, but switched to Samurai in S2 and have been there ever since. I like the vibe of the Samurai and it sounds like you need to be with the Vikings! I didn't start playing Raider until 2022 and I've been playing this game since Feb 2017. Wish I played him earlier but didn't like stunning tap so probably wouldn't have stuck with him.
i think Warmonger looks absolutely fucking sick, she gives those cool conqueror vibes and i love that

I’ve been playing for honor for years, although I have tried for honor when it first came out but haven’t started till just before gryphon or warmonger was introduced. Back then I was a Jourm main, but due to changes, he is not the same anymore. So now I currently main Kensei due to reliability, ease of use, and easy adaptation to enemy movements.
@glasslicker2829 Kensei is like ole' trusty. He's been my second favorite hero for a years. His adaptability thanks to his soft feint are great!

I’m a rep 51 overall, and I have 44 reps into knights and 6 in viking. Orochi has a rep cuz I used to play story and thought I’d give him a try but pvp orochi is a creature I don’t want in my arsenal

From begining I startet with the Nobushi and learned how the Play her in PVP.
First I only played her, but after Time, and more Chars I started play every Round another Hero.
Fellow Day 1 Nobushi main here! This video doesn’t really apply to me since I’m not really that focused on mains - I kind of allow that to happen naturally, as in if I find myself vibing hard with a certain hero in particular then I will of course tend to play them more often, but no so much that I’m forcing myself to do so. I’m more interested in learning the entire cast and as a result I’ve made it my unofficial goal to reach rep 10 with every hero since the best way to learn your opponent is to become them.
I think I have about 6 characters left to unlock since I haven’t been as active on For Honor for the past years, frequently uninstalling and reinstalling due to my frustrations with random aspects of the game (story for another day). I can’t check my reps at the moment, but my go-to characters for each class would be Tiandi/Vanguard, Nuxia/Assassin, Shugoki/Heavy, Nobushi/Hybrid - although this isn’t to say I’m not adept with others. I’ve become very decent at being able to alternate between heroes on the fly and my favorite thing to do that has become a hard habit is always random select when I’m not doing orders because my enemies and even my allies can never predict how I will play or get a read on me as a player. It throws everyone off so much when you’re literally a different threat each match, even if you’re rusty with a hero or two.
This practice also makes it so I never get too comfortable with one thing and is overall a fun and slightly challenging way to knowledge check both myself but more importantly my opponents while never getting bored of the same gameplay loop, ultimately improving simultaneously within the process on a general level that isn’t really achievable maining one hero and one hero alone. It really boils down to personal preference and if want to become a master of one or an intermediate of many.
TL;DR - Roster-wide knowledge checks go *brrr.*

Your point on switching heroes is understood, and I think a lot of people leave matches for that reason, tbh. They want to play their hero, and there may be a fear of being "figured out." That can be true, but it would be good for people to stick around because many times, the hero choices do change.
Do you plan on unlocking those 6 heroes you have left? I can understand why people walk away from this game and then come back in spurts. I still love it even though I'm not the best at it. I see, that is a very real feeling that even I get sometimes! Although somewhat for the opposite reason. My biggest draw to having fun in the game is all the different ways heroes can bounce off of one another and the many different variables between matchups. The chaos of the game’s randomness excites me as much as it can at times frustrate me, so repeating the same matchup over and over again bores me extremely fast and I end up finding a new lobby to keep my experience fresh and ever-changing if it feels like I’m just repeating the same fights on loop. Not only is every character different, but players can also play the same character differently and I just enjoy the unpredictability of it all. The best matches imo are when both teams are evenly matched and skilled enough to use multiple characters. It can sometimes get a bit too sweaty, sure, but being challenged is part of the excitement for me personally. Imo there’s not really much fun to be had steamrolling a less experienced team or getting dunked on.
I do however tend to stick around a bit more frequently this time and finish what I initially started. My last 6 characters are all the most recent heroes, so basically the Mercenaries faction, Varangian, and Sohei. I’ve actively avoided and saved them for last because I hear they are broken and I don’t really gravitate towards characters that are carried or overtuned, but I will still pick them up since I have to follow through on my goal.

Im a Lawbro main. Dude has nothing going for him. No full guard, dodge attacks, soft feints, variable times bashes, crushing counters, etc. Dude can't even chain lights. You're forced to learn how to parry and make reads. However, hearing Ad Mortem Inumicus is like a damn drug to me. Even more so if it lands. I swear in duels people know he doesn't have much but the moment they hear those words they freak out.

@@PrimeRicci to be fair Lawbro wouldn't have to be spamming 50/50 all the time if they gave him a dodge attack or some kind of light chain. His mixups are just too unsafe to use in anything unless you're jumping someone.
@@OPgamingstyle what mixup?? Once you have your top unblockable its just a unblockable spammer. And he can access his unblockable from a bash or a heavy directly. He already has a dodge attack and a light chain would just make him more like everybody else in the game. They need to revert his rework. Nerf his impale after heavy parry (NOT REMOVE IT) remove his bs light tap after a heavy, he already looks enough like gryphon dammit. Add back the heavy attack stun but on the second top heavy and keep hyper armor on it, add a chase tool for rollers. This, is what he needs (maybe shove on block too but they have to look into it).
@@PrimeRicci when did they give lawbringer a dodge attack? I played him last night no dodge attack. You mean his bash? That's reaching honestly. He doesn't have a safe opener like most of the cast. There's a reason he's considered F tier in duels. Unblockable spam? Really? The only character in the game that can't spam lights like everyone else has to spam the only thing he has that isn't a guaranteed death sentence? Yea that's my point. Give him an actual mixup because not being able to light after a light kind of leaves you little option.
@@OPgamingstyle a dodge bash has more than enough to be a dodge attack and usually better than an actual dodge attack because some heros have a low recovery after their bash and they can block some dodge attacks rendering them useless in contrary to a dodge bash, which takes more time to dodge, no safe openers? He litterally has a front dodge bash with 433ms its the safest opener and 70% of the cast has one. Play raider then talk to be about openers… and wow, i thought we left the word “light spam” in 2018. Light spam isn’t a thing if you can’t block a light thats on you, not the game. And yes, a character having an infinite chain of unblockable is cheesy and way better than light spam anyway. Everybody agreed that his infinite chain of unblockable was just the conq treatment and everybody hated it. And if you want the character to have a double light chain to kill low reaction players who can’t block lights, so be it, my point still stands, his rework made him dull and removed everything unique he had (the conq treatement). Maybe you’re an unexperienced player, and in that case, its normal if we have different viewpoints or opinions on the game because we experience different problems but don’t talk about balance or game design then.

I find core mechanics of a character to be just as important as their design. I find the hero with the most drip is by FAR lawbringer, but he's just too clunky to play with. I play him from time to time because he's just badass, but I know I'm not winning any encounters.

I main Black prior, hito and gladiator. All 3 I chose because I think they look cool asf, and I started with glad but when his toe stab got nerfed originally I just didn't really enjoy playing him in 4's, also because he's an assassin. Hito and BP I feel like are just fun to play, and competitive in 4's or duels, and even though they're both pretty simple now I think you can still take their gameplay to a high level

Im new (10h) into this game and I am having this problem of not knowing who to play
In terms on looks I mostly only like knights (lw, glad, cent, axe guy and conq), orochi and Ocelotl too (I'm from Mexico so he speaks deeper and louder to me in general lol)
I have the bad habit of looking at tier lists and all these are low mid.
I want to play what I think looks cool but I also would like to have a solid chance to win instead of shooting myself on the foot for picking a "bad" heroe.
Devs are constantly balancing heroes, so I think you should choose who speaks to you. You can be good and be solid in 4s with anyone in random matchmaking. You mentioned Ocelotl, so be him while you try out other heroes! You'll find you end up using more than a few heroes. Good luck! 👍🏼
I enjoyed bleach, my favourite character was shunsui Kyoraku. He wore a hat and had a pink coat over his captain attire. What made it better? His Zanpakuto was a dual wield Zanpakuto. Thus, Aramusha became my main man. He’s my favourite character even when he was the worst character in the game, when the CCU came out with Warmonger. Still my favourite

Ive player every chracter atleast once, i have atleast 10 characters i can play at will for fun, then 3 characters i can play seriously and only 1 out of the 3 i never fear to fight any character but ive also played for 3 years, you gave great advice for the newbies, just remind them they gonna ger put in a blender ... alot 😂
Nice!! 3 years in and still grinding away at it. As long as you're having fun that's all that matters. You're right about the blender but matchmaking definitely helps with that and if they go to Training and select different bot levels that can help too. Even use custom matches against bots. Set up 1v3 scenarios if you're that worries about it. Most won't do this but the game has ways you can work out your issues before running into some absolutely beast for players online.
It becomes a modd thing when im picking heroes. So im glad ive played them all to help me decide which one I want to be. The Outlanders I usually end up picking the least actually. Not sure why. 🤷🏽♂️Thanks for watching! 🫡

My problem is I like too many characters lol, i was a zerker main in the beta and for a long time after, then highlander and shaman (man it was funny watching people quit as soon as they saw a shaman XD) now afeera. But i also love nobushi, gryphon, warmommy, black prior, and kyoshin. Really the only character i hate to play or fight against is conqueror, they just arent fun to me in any way

@akizuki2971 Hmm, depends on what you're looking for. If you want a different flavor with some of the same tools, give the heavy hero Varangian Guard a try. She has unblockables, crushing counters, bash, but not as nifty and mobile.
If you just want a swift hero that is just as agile as Afeera and a very active hero to play then choose Shinobi.
If you want something more in-between those two heroes then go with Shaolin.
If you want something even more different, just explore the cast...Glad, Valk, Orochi. You'll be surprised at how many other heroes can be fun to play in spurts! Thanks for adding to the conversation and watching! 🫡

I was a kensei main in samurai faction first and i absolutely hated vikings and knights.
Then i discovered highlander and everything changed.
Now, im a hl main in viking faction and im sure i found my place now.

I started out Knights Faction but once I found Nobu and started playing Kensei more it just fit my vibe. Vikings are my least fav from beginning to now lol But I actually started playing Raider for the first time ever in 2022. I've been missing out. So I've really branched out even more now.

I just play a character until rep 9, then I play a different character. Shaman and Gryphon was the most torturous for me. PK was pretty bad, but for some reason, not as bad as my memory serves.
I remember playing Shinobi constantly back when he could throw is heavies, but not so much anymore.
I used to play every new hero to rep 9. Afeera is probably the first one I didn't do that for because I was splitting time between Xbox and PC. I mainly play PC now but that's a solid thing to do if you really enjoy the game because when you do go back to the hero you have plenty of unlocks you can tap into and less grinding. I would, to new players but everyone in general, suggest to try every hero and see which one you naturally flow better with. I thought I would enjoy Tiandi,but end up preferring WM's style, and even Pirate which ironically is a lot like Tiandi but I just do better with her for some reason even before her last buff.
Another one is Glad, I thought I would main PK because THAT TOP TIER DRIP,but eh, didn't enjoy it. But I found winning with an oversized fork easier for me
Good advice on just trying them all! The truth about your fav is that you can't get enough of those toes 😁 Pirate=Warmonger, that's an interesting take! Pirate has more armor as she flies across the map and doesnt have those CCs like Tiandi. Tiandi feels a little more neutered from what I remember but still flowy. Like the choices, but are there really any bad choices? Not really, just different choices.

if you're a 1v1's guy I suggest playing on meta characters instead of playing people who u think look "cool" if u want someone to play but dont know who...go watch havoks tierlist video with Beanii. Beanii is the current #1 player eu and #1 dom player
@PPzerk It depends on what you're trying to achieve. If you're just playing this game for fun or with friends, meta characters mean less. Beanii, Rippy, Blitss, all those players are really good players no matter who they play. Competitive isn't for everyone.
This is primarily serves as a launching point for many new players or players in their own head who are also casual players. If you play this game long enough, you'll figure out who's better with who and how to use them.
I've seen all those guys play, Skorpian when he was on Nobu in Dom tournaments used to be one of my favs since he used Nobushi a lot. 😁 Havok seems like an awesome dude and love his stuff! Played him a few times. Fun stuff!
