Dw, even I as one of the best players in the world doesn't know Ocelotl's, Medjay's, Afeera's, Varangian Guard, Jiang Jun's, Pirate's and Shaolin's moveset, but that may just be me being skill issued

I like how Warlord hasn't been touched in forever, but he's just been chilling in A tier for ages while the meta flies past time. He and Warden both remain unchanged, just really good duellists

Warlord and Kensei remain two of the most well-balanced characters in the game for the longest time, IMO. Both have simple but effective toolkits that make them reliable and competitive in most situations, but never OP.
@@HarlanDrake Definitely. I like Warlord a little less after the bash changes since it's harder to land the bash/gb mix-up (I v get that he's technically better at top level but no one I'm fighting could react to the old bash), but he's still very solid

Interestingly, the bash was also one of Warlord's greatest weaknesses because of the abysmal recovery on it, and a player who could react to the bash could very easily turtle and punish, requiring a different approach. Most couldn't, though. People are now forced to either enter a trade-out (few can outlast him) or a staring contest with WL, and him having one of the best defenses in the game makes him even a bit stronger at the highest level for this reason, like you've said.

havok, thank you bro. The time in between tierlists allow for the meta to develop and change and from a future perspective gives wonderful snapshots of every 2 seasons. Thank you for your work and content you produce for the community and your collab with bean. Some brawls with him sometime might be cool.
If Centurion isn’t A tier or higher then we need a revote. The melee mixups, the heavy and soft feints.

Highlander s tier in my heart
I always thought highlander was shit regardless of skill level, but I fought a Rep 80 hl in Dom... Fucking hell. He's definitely S Tier for the people who are rly good with him

I recently took the Shugo pill and have never had such a strong experience of dumb fun and profound disgust before. S tier stands for Shugo, no one else.
So happy shugoki is given an excellent ranking
I'd be fine if they removed the option to smoke front dodge after side dodge to prevent the counter of undodgeable mixups. I'd be happy if they also needed the input to side dodge bash on smoke and neutral. Give Shinobi new move animations after his smoke dodge.

Gladiator is underrated. Currently a gladiator main, just started playing him again out of the blue and hit diamond easily. Yes, the toe stab is reactable, which is why you have to mix it up by feinting his moves into toe stabs and other attacks, it’s also very useful in countering powerful enemies like hito, shugoki, and highlander.
Also, his skewer is unbelievably strong, you’re right- you have to react to it.
Toe stabs new unbalance buff is also pretty useful.
I say give gladiator a try, imo he’s a tier but i understand y someone might say he’s c tier
He's good for casual or ranked play, but comp he is mostly reactable. Since very few comp players play ranked, it's kind of just duels but with extra rewards and less players.
Ahh none of the characters I play are above C tier except for 1 , pain...

This is a month ago but you guys talked about highlander about to have a rework. Did you post this at a later date?
Could I get a more in depth explanation for WL? I mained him pre bash changes and I loved how much you could bully people with the headbutt in a short amount of time. Now though that the whole bash animation is slower he just can't condition players like he used to. As long as the opponent has proper good offense they just eat the bashes and wait for their turn to start. Ofc if the warlord knew you'd never dodge the bash he could win but that's not how that works, any WL will eventually try to bait. But beyond the headbutt that's slow af and hard to spam vs turtles he has nothing else to force a reaction. His defense is superb, don't get me wrong, but he just lacks offense if the opponent knows to just don't care about bashes.
Side note if Havok reads this I really like how transparent you are about being a more casual player despite being gm. I along with a few of my friends got gm and I'm realizing even getting GM doesn't mean you're high level 😅 I really appreciate that humbleness.

Pardon my english but I've been playing at the top level for a while and she has always been a very solid pick. she has everything needed in her kit, just usually the players who consistently play her are on the lower end of the skill curve due to her dominating at low ELO with not much defensive knowledge needed like other characters.

Shoutout to Kensei. Been a consistently A tier fighter for the game's entire life cycle. Proud to be a main. Even if i feel like my revenge meter is non existent sometimes
I feel like a great Shugoki player could trip up a pro for a round or two; just cause the playstyle is so different from most and he can REALLY delay those heavies

I need someone to explain to me how shugo and warden are above BP. His neutral game alone puts him in A tier but that shield flip is the single greatest move in the game.

With all due respect you are able to chain light and heavy attacks off of warmongers bash, she hasn’t been buffed for a while but her last buff was to her side unblockable, it also does bleed damage so, in my opinion she’s a high A bc of this with her mix up

Interesting placement for centurion in high A tier, however I would counter with people can double dodge his charged jabs in quite a lot of situations, I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this, it's been like a year and ubi hasn't fixed this
Maybe true, however at least centurion could play around that and feint lvl3 bash to gb. Its not a dealbreaker

yea but for hito it works both ways, if u GB them and they counter gb. you can buffer heavy and they cant gb back

I think so yes, nerfs didn't change much with them, maybe afeera a little bit with the backstep light, but that's not her main strengths, same with shinobi dmg nerf, doesn't change much

As a lawbringer main Ill admit the impale was crazy. One of the few characters that got a heavy of a heavy parry under certain conditions. But he is so weak not. My bro has lost everything. The stun the hyper armor bash ifykyk. I had a whole 3 heavy no stam punish shit was crazy
Yeah i know i would give him hyper armor on his top heavy finisher and his opener heavies, bring back impale on heavy parry (you do less damage than before the rework have no stun and no stam drain on top heavies, so its fair: i mean warmonger, cent, afeera, jj can do the same and nobody cares), give his side dodge bashes i frames god dammit, bring in the double light chain (i hate throwing only a heavy after an opener thats not my bash)
Give him better stamina consumption 3 feints and he is out of stam, up the damage from top heavy opener to 23 and sides to 22, so its like shinobis or orochis, still his damage would be okay, maybe give the tap light to the side heavy finishers as well but turn the damage down to 26, at last give him a dodge forward heavy with hyper armor thats feintable as a roll catcher (why doesnt he have one after a rework and two testing grounds) boom there you go lawbringer is cooler to play and has his old impale back while not being broken

I'm having trouble seeing how Warden is better than Centurion in duels. What does Wardens bash bring over Cent to make him an entire tier higher?
His bash is unreactable, it's always a read, and he can keep chaning it indefinitely. Also does very high stamina damage. Meaning that playing against a warden is essentially just roulette.

Remember guys, a lot of this wont apply to you because you aren't top 0.1% of the players (and no, getting to grandmaster doesn't make you a top 0.1% player.....I've been in top 10 multiple seasons and I'm shit) so just enjoy the characters you like to play as and dont worry about chasing a meta for a game with an almost non-existent competitive scene

Warden above orochi,gryphon,bp and kyoshin is just wild
for those wondering, at casual level where most of the playerbase is, S tier consists of hitokiri and shugoki because tgey have endless, barely punishable offence with a lot of damage. Someone like warden, on the other hand, would be like D tier for beginners because no hyper armor, no dodge attacks, no undodgeables

Traps are punishable by guardbreak on read. Not many people know this, but it works exactly like valkyrie soft feint. Make a read and you get a free heavy+chain pressure

Ocelot s+? Did you ever heard about dodge? Yeah you can basically dodge everything from that guy and you are ok. Easy to read slow light as opener and useless hyper armour on zone, every character that counters him just a little bit makes ocelot useless

I also find zerk to be an easy hero to fight. If you can react well and play heavily off reactions then zerk pretty much can’t do anything besides faint to light or gb.
no chance to get back into this game after not having played it since release. Way too many heroes to keep track of their abilities and max punishments and so on. Don't know how to get back into 1v1s honestly.

As the leading member of Shaman mains we have decided that her heavy faint into stab should be undodgeable. Good day.
It shouldn't even exist in the first place, that's why these heroes keep the reviews at mixed lol. Too much neutral guessing that allows to keep initiative basically for ever if you don't play a hero that has similar infinite initiative.
Heros like warlord are peak gamedesign. Not overflowing with a million tools to try to roll the dice against. Everything the game needs in a compact and humble package, dangerous but perfectly enjoyable and playable against even if you don't have catreflexes. Neutral bash, neutral undodgable, a proper full guard, hyperarmor on heavy only with fair timing and without infinite mixupchain.
Kensei is up at top design too. These Heros get outperformed by all the overflowing shenanigans Heros tho, which is why they kinda suck in comparison. Like put a same skill level warlord and Shinobi in a duel and the warlord will have to sweat out a plan while the Shinobi simply uses his moveset without thinking about who he's up against and what his gameplan is. Just like shugoki and hito with their brainddead movesets, with which you can win ranked diamond matches literally onehanded lol

As a nuxia main I agree however people can still just walk backwards/emote/unlock/interupt and gain a free gb or heavy on every heavy trap. Doesn’t happen often but still can I’d say her delayed heavy’s make her high A
warmonger B tier is absolute cap, she is literally a better centurion with a charge into wall for 30 free damage off of a heavy parry.
