@@BerserkJess That's not the problem. The problem is that Raider got a kit that made him match every playstyle. Hyperarmor, fast softfeints, stunning attacks, dodge guardbreak (thank god they removed it), etc
This makes him able to matchup with every type of player. Aggressive orochi ? Just hyperarmor through it. Defensive Shugoki ?, spam the shit out of him. Parry god ? Softfeint and flashbang him.
Raider is too strong and makes nearly perfect.
I fixed the Gladiator section, here it is:

I just started using shugoki more as a meme than anything, and in a 1 on 1 fight shugoki is actually decent. Sure, you have to play like a turtle and rely only on hyper-armor, but who doesnt like a playstyle like that! Oh wait, everyone.
Shugoki is really fun just because he's hilarious, he just smacks everyone around and then snaps them.
Step 1 : pick Shugoki
Step 2 : win because no one actually knows how to fight him due to his low pick rate
Step 3 : Get nerfed again next month
Shugoki can absolutely demolish any centurion in a one v one because his hyper armour can make it near impossible to knock him to the floor

This might sound harsh, but the best way to counter guardbreak is to react to it. Try setting the training dummy to a guardbreak and a light attack to practice reacting to it
So most characters have their “wonderful” mix up that you either can or can’t counter depending on your character. Except for the following
Conquerer
Zerker (on console)
Highlander
Warden
In those 4 cases open up the pause menu and immediately seek out the icon that reads “return to main menu” click on it with much haste or the sight of your soulless character getting beaten to a pulp with a heaping spoonful of balance may drive you to suicide.
In conclusion just don’t play the game as there’s a 99.736% chance you will find those characters every game.

I for some reason find people who main OP characters and they know it funny yet saddening and I don't know why.
for example shinobi, a shinobi is very hard to play at the beginning but rewarding if you master it and can make people rage quit if you do it right i find it awesome but also sad since the only counter is to get close and spam light which is hard to do since shinobi has deflect and poison counter attack

Lê Toàn when your in offensive, to defend either dodge attacks and punish with kick that guarantees unblockable heavy, or interrupt attacks with your light, they're the one of the fastest attacks in the game, I'm a new highlander aswell, about 2 weeks / Rep 6 now
A light attack beats the kick into grab almost every time. Light when you see a kick and you'll most likely catch him in the middle of the soft feint. The normal kick can still beat your light attack though so only use that if they rely on that soft feint allot.

8:40 Nobushi's dodge attacks do dodge if you time it right. The dodge ends as soon as you input attack so you have to time the dodge closely, then press attack after you are out of the way but still dodging. It helps to say "dodge attack" out loud to practice the right timing lol

The thing about ninja is that you could double light attack, or you could do a heavy jump that is a clear miss to bait the enemy into a punish, flip back and then range grab. Also range grab into heavy always and apply poison if can.
This list is so old that warlord was better than raider. Raider now is by far the best character in the game alongside berserk while warlord and Lawbringer are literally trash tier.

Highlander does take a solid few tries to get good at but once you figure it out he is so much fun
As a shinobi main, i feel personally insulted that you didn't even mention shinobis pseudo ranged feint for a free ranged guard break or the smokeless double dash for guaranteed bamboozlement or the quad dash that makes you fast af boi
Fucking ridiculous how with shinobi I've beat, saint santana, the hulk, napper, name anybody that claims they're number one and chances are they leave the match after getting fucking destroyed, it's pretty cool.

So basically you charge a ranged but then cancel it and immediately light attack. Most people will be paying more attention to the guard icon then your actual animations and will heavy in an attempt to parry you. Since you can backflip after any attack regardless of if it hits or not, immediately follow your wiffed light with a backflip and follow with a ranged guardbreak. Just make sure not to guardbreak if they didn't try to parry.

Raiders stampede charge into zone attack can be parried.
Only in high levels. +your damage is much much muuuuuuch better if charge-zone-cancel to stuntap-to heavy-to a guard break- to a spin (backwards+guardbreak) and if they hopefully hit a wall then zone and dead

Shogoki get reworked- sweet mother of god...
Valkyrie two side lights and a guard break sweep is incredibly powerful. Mixed with back step all guard into a shield charge throws off a lot of combos for the enemy if you time them right. I main Valkyrie and spamming the trip is simple and very easy after two light attacks. Majority of the time the enemy will backwards dodge roll and waste stamina to get out of the sweep, then you follow up with top light because it has a lunge and you can punish most the time by chasing the enemy with it.

Man, For Honor has changed so much in the past couple of years. It’s insane seeing this old footage.
An idea I came up with that at least I don’t think anyone else came up with was if you are a Kensei you can start a battle running to your opponent and doing a left doge and a heavy attack to get ahead on the fight.
I do this because no one expects a kensei to be fast.

Definitely worth it been playing since beta. Games got a steep learning curve but once you get into it it's pretty fun other than the toxic community it's definitely worth it

EnvyOw yeah they've got ranked tournaments on weekends and ranked duels. Plus they have a huge new update coming in October.
It's a free game, you should get it regardless of what it's like as it's very close to an A title, just so it's there for whenever you get an urge to play something different.
The stronger heroes and some other things in the game might be off putting for newer players, but if you find yourself liking the gameplay I strongly recommend putting some time into it and you’ll have lots of fun once you get a hang of it

Don't forget you can repeatedly do heavy unblockables as highlander not sure if me and my friend are the only ones that know that (if you do know that move and use it good for you like the quick way out of any encounter)
