I felt compelled to do this especially because there is a "Shaolin Monk" character and I'm going to put him to the test. How authentic are his movements?

The expansion comes out for everyone in a week. The $30 is for all the new characters and early access. When the early access is over everyone can buy the characters with in game currency called steel which you get from completing matches and orders

He said in another video, shaolin monks dont need to be part of buddhism or any religion. Many monks are not even meditating and stuff. There are some few who are full in the religion part of the temple, but most of them just doesnt care.

All the incorrect stances/movements from the Shaolin is most likely the motion actor not being able to properly do them.
Acr Gunning some of the stances he’s correcting he doesn’t provide accurate examples to prove his point. I’m not initiated with Kung Fu but I wish he provided proper examples
TheBlueKnightz I did watch them and know that he has a well diverse knowledge in Kung Fu, my point was that the visuals didn’t match up with what we being done.
Upon second viewing he didn’t go into every hero with their full kit just took a few minutes for the other three and judged the Shaolin on not even half of the characters move set. I would have liked to have seen him go more into that and show how diverse his knowledge is in the art form.

I mean, there are HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) practitioners who have reviewed this. Although a lot of them are more focused on like the "historical accuracy" of a particular execution rather than the combat accuracy of the movements

Sir Smellybottom Yeah, maybe covered in armor that isn’t too heavy (to allow fast movement), or do that to add weight to an attack. Bulky for actual strength, and armor that covers important parts of body (maybe on forearm for blocking). I have no idea, but I just think of Shredder from TMNT.

you know how Chinese teachers are allowed to hit their student with a stick right? This is usually done when you did not do your homework or you've broken a rule. That's how it is normally in eastern countries that's not westernized in their education system. Some teachers even use a ruler to hit the bone protuding on the side of your feet and that hurts like hell.

It is worth noting that most of the stance changes are for the games 3 stance mechanic, which is why they must stand taller/leaned when blocking high, as well as the reasoning for the weapon. The reliance on weaponry is also due to the games design

I imagine none of them use their bare hands because the developers probably thought it would look silly to have someone just punching out a fully armored knight.
The developers choose a weapon and make a character around it, so bare hands would not work here.
It's also silly to smash your blade against plate armor, but they still did it anyway...

If there was any fighter that could possibly actually punch through plate armour, it would be Shaolin warrior monks. Look them up, they're extremely tough. I was actually looking forward to Shaolin being bare handed combatant

Yea if a real Monk claims half the moves are done poorly then it's clear they hired some martial artist mo-cap actor and not a real Shaolin. As I highly doubt the actor got beaten everytime he made a mistake.

I mean, can you imagine getting punished with a stick? Not only do you have to continue training, but you also have to bear with the pain. I had gone through something like this when I used to learn Karate. If our teacher would see us mess up, he would ask us to show him our hand and he would apply a weird move called "the injection" which is basically applied in the same area as a normal injection, but he would do it with his bare hands. It would only take him a split second to do it and not only did it hurt, but even to this day I still couldn't figure out how was he able to do it(he would use only 2 fingers and it would still hurt as hell and I dont wanna imagine a god damn stick doing something like that)

You know ancient shaolin monk fingers can pierce tree. That's why they use tiger claw to Break your neck and skull. If your fingers can't pierce tree then using tiger form useless.

We do the fist and open hand greeting at my Kung fu school. They say our style is pretty traditional Shaolin, but our founder was a Chinese immigrant from Indonesia, so who knows. Love your critique on the stances, which are so hard to do right (omg my knees!), but so distinct.

Mentally, Wyverns are often depicted as less intelligent than dragons, more prone to acting on animalistic behaviors or natural Instinct (similar to what many Skyrim dragons do). Physically, they’re smaller than dragons as well.
Of course, I’ve recently come across some information saying that early depictions of dragons had them standing with only 2 legs and two wings, so I dunno.
@@OtomostheCrazy everything about the topic on dragons is confusing, if the main argument about the wyvern not being a dragon is because it only has two legs, then what about the wyrm, apparently its a dragon although famous depictions of them is that they dont have ANY limbs.
Apparently, the sea serpent is actually a type of dragon although its depiction is just a big ass snake.
And your not wrong, some of the earliest depictions of dragons are of that of the wyverns, i dunno why people suddenly decided to exclude them from the family.
And on the topic on tigers and lions, they might look different from each other but theyre on the same family as domesticated house cats, theyre all feline but different species, just like how a chuahua is still in the same family of that of wolves, theyre all canidae, see where im getting at?
