well that's not by accident though, when you think about the comics most of them followed a similar pattern where Peter would confront a new villain, struggle with how to defeat the villain, have a little girl trouble along the way, and then find a way to defeat the villain in the end. So the movies are mirroring the comics in that sense

Le ME its only the same plot if you hyper-simplify it the way they did here, ignoring the fact that there's different villains with different motivations and powers in each, and even the romance plots vary throughout somewhat

I never quite understood why everyone had a problem with the "emo" Peter Parker. It kinda made sense to me. He was trying to be cool, but Peter isn't cool. He's a dork. So he'd probably come off as a dork while trying to be cool. Not saying the movie was great, but, y'know, that particular criticism just always seemed dumb to me. Like it was done purposefully. It was never supposed to actually be cool.

To be fair, I think most people's biggest problem with 3 is the dance club scene. And I like the movie, but yeah that was pretty stupid.

Same here; everyone freaks out about emo Peter, but come on, that's a tiny bit of the movie. I thought the entire plot about Harry was very interesting (although I'm not sure why the butler waited so long to tell Harry the truth about his father's death).

If they'd continued that pattern, it's possible that in Spider-Man 4, Peter would try to stay away from MJ because he was turning into Man-Spider, then Doctor Connors would turn back from the lizard to his human form and sacrifice himself to create an antidote for Spider-Man.
I'm pretty sure Vulture was supposed to be the main villain of Spider-Man 4 played by John Malkovich

But even in the movies you could say going that far scared him, and then he never kills again.
(Also yea: he actually IS all about no killing, unlike batman. To the point of doing his best to stop other characters from killing.
Plus when doc oc takes over his body, he accidentally kills a guy during the first fight because of a punch. It's then that he realizes that Peter rarely used his full strength when fighting - that he managed to beat all those baddies _while holding back_.)

Cuythulu I'm not OP, but I couldn't really care at all what the Marvel canon for Venom is or anything it's totally fucked up anyway. It looked cool in the movie though and I enjoyed him as a villain. And Peter Parker disco dancing is supposed to be horrible, cringe-inducing and hard to watch. It's what Peter Parker's Venom addled mind thinks a cool badass looks like and it's horrible on purpose.
I understand not everyone cares about canon, but Venom is a great character and probably Spiderman´s biggest foe, it was a great opportunity, they should have focused on him and him only and actually develop the character. And what you say about the disco dancing takes a looooot of mental gymnastics and still wouldn´t justify it.

They mainly focused on two villians but they were awkward as fuck and really lacked any of the sophistication that the Lizard, Doc Ock or the Green Goblin had.

The first two Spider-Man movies are great. Spider-Man 2 in particular is easily one of the best superhero movies of all-time. Spider-Man 3 was a huge step backwards with too many villains and a huge lack of emotional depth.
The overall plot for The Amazing Spider-Man was almost identical to Sam Rami's film, making it annoyingly pointless. It was also far less entertaining. It felt like an unnecessary studio rehash all the way.
Then there's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which is inexcusably terrible.

In my opinion, Spider-Man 2 is the quintessential superhero movie. It's also the highest rated superhero movie of all-time on both Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes. If you disagree, then that's fine.

Toy Story-Toys get separated from their owner somehow and go on an adventure to get back.
Rush Hour-Literally three different iterations of the "good guy was actually the bad guy" twist ending, plus Chris Tucker being racist and making "I'm not..." jokes that did to this franchise what Arnold Schwarzenegger's ice puns did to Batman and Robin.
Transformers-The Decepticons want to do something that will destroy the earth, and they end up having a climactic robot war and end up destroying a lot of the earth anyway.
All of Tyler Perry's Movies: Essentially saying: "All those stereotypes about Black people? They're true!"
Iron Man: All the villains seek revenge for something Tony (or his dad) did to them in the past. The villains almost beat him, despite 2 of them using Tony Stark's own technology.
Jaws: They ignore his warnings, people get eaten, and the shark is killed via explosion.
An American Tail-Fievel gets separated from his family and, against all odds, is reunited with them in a different country, and only found them by literally just happening to be where they were also.

Tobey is the best Peter Parker. I love Andrew Garfield, but Peter Parker is not supposed to be super hot, he´s supposed to be avarage looking and awkward (like in the dance scene, what and iconic scene, i mean come on).

To Arhum Ahmad, I think the reason why people hated TASM 2 was because they killed Gwen. I mean ... she wasn't like the other love interests in superhero movies. She's actually smart (she got into OXFORD) and a woman who knows what she wants. For those of you who hasn't watch TASM 2, I'm sorry for spoiling.
Ezgi Acik Thats not why people hate TASM 2 haha, Gwen was meant to die in the comics. they all saw it coming, and they made her so likeable and we all liked her a ton more than MJ. but thats what makes TASm 1 and 2 GOOD! not bad! The only reason I've heard why people don't like it is because there was apparently too many villains like the old spider man 3 did :)

I honestly wished that Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker had actually told Harry that his dad was the Psychopathic green goblin and how he had murdered innocent lives and as well as nearly killing the lives of May Parker, Mary Jane, and a hanging bus full of children, I don’t care that Willem Defoe’s Norman Osborne made Peter promise to not tell Harry that his dad was the murderous terror inflicting Goblin, because Willem Defoe’s Goblin was as horrifically evil and psychotic as those savage goblin rapists of that Fantasy light novel based manga and anime series: Goblin Slayer 2:31.

There's a good movie hiding somewhere in Spider-man 3. Like, that five minutes in the middle where Harry knows Peter's secret and is dismantling his life from behind the scenes. THERE'S your movie. Make Harry responsible for the Muscle of the movie, Sandman OR Venom, have them wear Pete down, so then Harry can swoop in at the end for the Final Blow. Instead of a bunch of random stuff happening. Random Space Goo from Space. Random Convict falls into a Random Science Experiment. That's the real sin of this movie, too much "And Then" storytelling, as the South Park guys would say.
