    This is 2016 KTM 50 SXS. Piston was shot and all burnt up so it was time to replace it. I used a Vertex piston kit ($100) and it came with all the parts needed to do a complete top end rebuild.

    New to these bikes.... After the instal, is there a heat cycle/time for it to "break in"? Thank you for the video!

    awesome vid. What clutch cover is that ?

    • @TheRealSkeptyk
      @TheRealSkeptyk  Před 3 lety

      The clutch cover came stock from the special edition 50 SX in the 2016 year. It was called an SXS. Which is the dirt bike in the video above. Again, it was a special edition 50 SX model that KTM made for the 2016 model. Kinda like their factory editions they make today. Thanks for watching! Appreciate the like 👍!

    Bro I need help man I tore down the top end twice everything is installed correctly. I have a 39.5 piston in a 2005 pro senior ktm 50 and the kick has zero compression.

      You have to double check everything... make sure your piston ring has no gap or slit that would allow air to pass through, the wall... when installing your your cylinder head make sure your gasket did not have any tears or small rips... everything has to be sealed tight... hope that helps.

    Do you have to worry about deck height or timing with the 50's ?

    How long and what’s the price for the kit. I was thinking about upgrading to a KTM for my 5 year old that is out grown his Honda 50.

      Should be under $100... I bought mine off eBay, I paid $90 at the time.... it took me about 2.5 hrs to do it, I change the pistons after about 30hrs on them, but change it as needed.

    Does the piston ring have to go on a certain position on the ktm50?

    • @TheRealSkeptyk
      @TheRealSkeptyk  Před 2 lety

      Yes there a specific grove it sets in... in the video I mention that as im putting the ring on the piston. Also the arrow on the piston needs to be on the exhaust pipe outlet side.

      @@TheRealSkeptyk thanks for the reply. I'm talking about the ring specifically though, is it possible to fit it upside down? I know some rings have markings but I don't remember seeing anything about this in the video?

    • @TheRealSkeptyk
      @TheRealSkeptyk  Před 2 lety

      @@motoxcarter2143 i got you, sorry for the misinterpretation... the ring has no up or down side fitment, it is machine cut same way on both top and bottom, basically its universal up or down fitment.
