  • In this wood turning project I show you how you can make an eyeball using spalted beech and epoxy resin. Great fun to do and I'm hoping to do more soon.
This woodturning channel, explores the uses of wood when combined with resin, epoxy, to make woodturning projects, that are easy and can be classed as art. A lot of the wood turning projects I make can be completed by the beginner through to the more experienced wood turner. If you have any ideas for artwork, wood inlays, epoxy projects or any other wood turning projects please get in touch. Collaborations are always welcomes.

Excellent work, I have always found that, when casting in wood, it's can be a advantageous to apply a couple of coats of undiluted sanding sealer to the mold. I have suffered resin bleed in the past staining the wood. This does effect future dyes and staining if required. In this case it didn't matter; just thought you might like to know. Nice piece and skilled work.

Hi Frederick, I do this when doing bowl inlays but I know the walls would be thick enough for nothing to come through. Thanks for pointing it out though :)

I'm not sure I'd want it looking at me, but I love it. It'd be great for putting in the window to ward off the 'evil eye'. You made turning the sphere look easy, and that spalted wood is a dream.

I always wondered how they made croquet balls. Now I know.
Bit macabre this one. Did you ever make a pair? because I guess that would be the ultimate challenge of colour matching and shaping etc.
More importantly did you find a customer for it? Did it ever get a name?
As a piece of art and a demonstration of bringing a really tough concept to life (now you have me at it) this was truly splendiferous.
When you make another one you could include a teeny webcam inside and a display underneath and people could use it on the hallway table to floss their teeth or check their lippy on the way out?
