When I see that Phil has posted a new video 😂 I break out in the biggest smile! Must be pretty cool to be able to cause people to smile thousands of miles distant from the Shady Acres woodshop!
It seems to work in both directions, Chris! Now I have a big smile on my face! 😊 Thank you so much!
That’s a real beauty. Well done Phil for keeping the inclusion in there.
😊
Suprise Suprise Suprise It hid the secret inside well but you know to reveal it. It was not able to keep his secret from the master. Now I can say I say it too! Thank you for sharing it with us. KEEP ON TURNING
Thanks for watching and commenting! 😊
Man, olive is so incredibly beautiful. When other woodturners remove the tenon in a way other than the way you do, I figure they're doing it incorrectly. 😂
Haha, you are not wrong, Kathleen! 😊
Fabulous Phil. Olive wood is so beautiful but the grain is hidden and needs to be revealed. That's where you excel. Magnificent
Thank you, Barry! 😊
Love this bowl. God is so good to give us such beautiful things to look at and then to be able to make beautiful things out of His creations.
😊
When you cut that log in half, I was just in awe at the beauty of the Olive Wood and you certainly did it justice, Phil!
Thank you, Carol! 😊
Olive wood is one of the finest woods for furniture and crafts😊
😊
A real beauty with the branches as special feature - well done Phil, you brought it to shine.
Thanks, Bruno! 😊
I’ve seen 2000 year old Olive trees. I lived in Israel and they made everything from olive wood. I love the wood
Wow, amazing! 😊
Olive wood never disappoints
True enough, Celia! 😊
Flawless? That’s funny since it’s all flaws and what makes it so beautiful. You’re great to listen to, keep it up.
Thank you! 😊
Olive wood is one of nature's treasures, at least for woodturners. You did it proud, Phil! Love all the features you highlighted. Beautiful bowl! Thanks!
True, thank you, Greg! 😊
Dontcha wish you owned a couple hundred acres of olive trees? Beautiful bowl Phil!
Sure do! 😊
Awesome piece Phil, You know.............as long as we are both alive you will have olive wood to turn, until I run out and we know that wont happen. Glad to see you where able to keep the bark on this one. Love the bark inclusion with the two branches. The wonders of nature and your sense of approach to a piece, thank you for sharing my friend
Haha, you are far too kind, Dan! I still have plenty, thanks to you! Hope all is well, my friend! 😊
Phil
Great piece! Isn't it wonderful what nature does to create beauty. You always let that speak in your work. Thanks for the efforts and for sharing. Much appreciated.
Keep on keeping on my friend.
Many thanks, Bob! 😊
I can see why you love the olive wood. Nature at its best. 😍
True, Vickie! 😊
Beautiful, Phil! Life is short. Use that special wood! Love it!
Haha, don't remind me, Robin! 😊
Interesting feature with the merge of the two branches inside the bowl. Beautiful finish. 🫒
Glad you like it! 😊
Your right about the beauty of the wood.
I've never had any olive wood to work with.
Maybe some day I'll have another lathe.
I'm sure missing it.
Keep up the good work Phil. I sure enjoy your videos.
Thank you, Steven! 😊
Прекрасно, как всегда! Ждём следующих работ!)))))
Спасибо, я рада, что вам понравилось! 😊
That's beautiful, Phil. You can't go wrong with olive wood. If you look at the inside with the inclusion at the top, it looks like a heart.
Bill
I have to look again, Bill. A few comments mention the heart! 😊
Olive wood is so amazing and you brought out the personality! Thanks, Phil
Thank you, Tina! 😊
Most welcome Phil
What an interesting phenomenon that as a non woodworker it seems that you aren’t touching the wood visually when doing the outer edges but since you can hear it you know it is touching.
I know what you mean, Christine. It seems like that to me, too, when I'm editing the video. 😊
Olive wood, I have two little figurines of Joshua and Caleb with a cluster of grapes I bought in Bethlehem in the early 80's on a trip to Israel It is beautiful as is all Olive wood. Watching you turn this piece reminds me just how beautiful olive wood is. Great job Phil. God Bless You Phil!
They sound beautiful, Bob! Thank you! 😊
It is such a lovely wood. I have some nice size pieces waiting for me to make even more beautiful. LOL. Sitting here at my desk, I see a grove just 50m away and have the farmer's permission to collect any that falls.
Get to it, Rob! 😊
Phil an even lovelier story is a very dear friend's house is on a couple acres bounded by a gorgeous little creek. She is slowly removing the feral species along the creek and replacing with natives. Lots of old Olives. She says I can take what I want. But one of her boys' hobby is making rustic furniture from Olive and I won't interfere with his supply. What he makes is just gorgeous. Authentic old joinery techniques with no metal fixing. I love what he does.
Olive wood is a beautiful wood. You can get so much out of it. It really turns out beautiful. Thanks for sharing this video.
😊
Just wanted to tell you that I love your videos. I watch them all the time. I love the way you explain things so that I, new to turning, can understand. I have learned so much from you. Thank you so much.

Absolutely, stunning! A pleasure as always. 😊What a beautiful piece.
Thank you so much, George! 😊
Wow, wow, wow, Phil. That's beautiful!
😊
It's your talent to bring the beauty from any piece of wood. God bless you.
Thank you, Reba! 😊
Another great job. Every time I think I have a favorite, you replace it. This is so beautiful..
Thanks, Stewart! 😊
Another beautifully crafted piece of art. I just love watching you do your magic. I think this is the most current video I've seen yet. Good to see you looking so well.
Take Care,
Bill Riley
Thank you, Bill! This is indeed my newest video! 😊
What a beautiful piece of wood! Gotta love olive! 👍 and....so glad those pieces stayed in place. Nice job !
Me too! Thank you! 😊
I believe the gizmo you’re talking about is a suction cup. Several wood turners use it…👍❤
I think you are talking about vacuum chucks. I was referring to a Longworth chuck. Still, my way works and is free! 😊
Wow! That is a lot of beautiful grain and features. Well done Phil😊
Yes, thanks, Guy! 😊
Thursday are like Fridays used to be when I was still working . Anticipating your videos.🤗
Haha, thanks, Frank! I remember working and feeling that way but it's a distant memory! 😊
Lovely bowl, lovely grain, lovely olive wood. Thanks, Phil!
Thanks, Richard! 😊
That's one heck of a beautiful piece Phil, thanks once again for a great show.
😊
I’m like some, and do not like resins. There’s NOTHING WRONG WITH NATURAL wood texture w/o ANY artificial bs. Love the Olive wood wrk. Keep it turnin Phill.
Right on 😊
Beautiful looking. Once again you have done a fantastic job of turning. The grain pattern is amazing. Very well done Phil 👍👍👍👍👍.
Thank you, Scott! 😊
Awesome Phil! The grain just pops. A beauty for the books 🤩
Thanks 👍
Olive trees are such long lived slowing grow trees its not surprising to have branches growing at all matter of odd angles and potentially grafting into each other, or being absorbed back into the trunk. It's also amazing how polished pieces of Olive wood exude the hues of the oils extracted from the fruits. The end result always seems worth the continual chisel sharpening, as the old saying goes "If there's no pain, there's no gain!"
😊
Very nice Phil. Like every Thursday night. Very enjoyable video. Thank you for sharing. Hope to see you next week
Next week is a definite, Albert. The video is already up so even if I keel over, it'll be there! 😊
Yes, it was fun to watch Phil.
Great piece, grain, bark, and that little branch. It seems like there is always something of interest in your turnings.
Cosmo from Billerica, Ma.
Glad you enjoyed it, Cosmo, thank you! 😊
You are a lucky fellow to have a few pieces to work. Around here all we can get is Russian Olive. You did the piece justice.
Thank you, Chris! I know just how lucky I am! 😊
Phil. That Olivewood made a stunning Bowl I know you don't sell your bowls but that would have been the second one I would have asked to buy I just love your work Phil
You are so kind, Kim, thank you! 😊
the bowl is gorgeous! That branch is eye catching!
Thank you, I agree! 😊
Another amazing piece! You cease to amaze me.😄
Thank you! Cheers! 😊
Olive wood is beautiful. you made it even more beautiful with this bowl Phil
Thank you, Wendy! 😊
🙋♂️🏴 Hi Phil you've done it again created my latest favourite bowl. I love the grain and the finish. Beautiful features hidden inside. Thanks
Thank you, John! 😊
I see the wood spirit inside that, love it.
Cool, thank you, John! 😊
Great job! Beautiful grain. I didn’t know olive had such color! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Larry! 😊
We have a lot of olive groves where I live. The angular and knotty branches and trunks are beautiful. The way you turn the wood gives homage and captures that beauty.
I'm so glad, thank you, Kristi! 😊
Very beautifully done Phil! That olive wood is gorgeous. Thx and take care.
😊
Phil, like this bowl. All the grain, inclusions, features, and bark! Glad you didn't (don't) filling holes in the bowl with whatever. Outcomes normally never turnout well,
Thank you, Russ! 😊
Good evening, Phil.
Just about bed time here. I will have visions of Olive wood dancing in my head. Olive definitely is a gorgeous wood to turn. Olive is also Popeye's girlfriends name. I guess it's Olive Oyl. Your bowl is cool and the special features are a wonderful bonus. Speaking of a bonus, you still have the other half of the piece for another turning. Nice.
Yes, bonus! Thank you, Ray! And, yes, it is Olive Oyl! 😊
Really cool Phil. Keep them coming, Dan.
Thanks, Dan! 😊
That looks so good. I have a friend who lives in Italy and has over 60 olive trees on his land - if only I could get at them! It would probably be easier for me to move out there with him and encourage him to buy a lathe! 🙂
Sounds like a plan, David! 😊
Excellent job as always….. but, you forgot to tell me “Howdy”. 😊😊😊
The "Howdy" comes at 0:42 Richard! 😊
Another georgous piece of art
😊
It looks like a leaf with the stem in the center. Really nice Phil.
Thank you for my Thursday night entertainment.
Blessings to you.
💜🙏
So nice of you, Beth, thank you! 😊
Now that's one beautiful turning there Phil😊
Thank you, Wayne! 😊
A truly a gorgeous piece, Phil! Awesome grain and so much character!
Glad you like it, Billy, thanks! 😊

Once again, a masterpiece!
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful bowl with some really unique features, Olive is such a pretty wood, well done and thanks!
Cheers Al
Thank you, Al! 😊 Cheers!
Very beautiful Phil. Terry downunder
Thanks, Terry! 😊
Really strange and unusual and absolutely beautiful. The grain is amazing.
Thank you, Jean! 😊
Wow, Phil! This one's a jewel. Is there any chance of a vase from the other half that you cut? What a gem. Thanks a bunch, Phil.
Well, maybe, Kersi. I think the bark was off that other side, right? If so, a vase would probably work pretty well!
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop that would be a home run for sure. Can't wait! :)
The whole thing is my favourite, those little branches are very cool, that is really nice wood and it was fun to watch, thanks Phil.
All the best to you.
Regards Jim
Thank you, Jim! 😊
Wow! Beautiful! Another great turning!
Glad you like it, Dianne, thanks! 😊
One word, beautiful!!
Thank you! 😊
Morning Phil, That is a beauty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Olivewood never disappoints in my mind. I have used it a lot in pens but only a few small bowls.
Great video Phil and as I've already said that is a beauty.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
I'm sure they use only the best parts in pen blanks, Huw. You are seeing the best it has to offer! Thanks, buddy! 😊
Phil, I have found your method of removing the tenon is the most effective and easy method. I hate having to have to install a set of jaws to just remove a tenon then remove them for another set so thumbs up to your method. And yes the bowl is terrific. Thanks for sharing your expertise young man.
Thanks, Kid! I don't think I have changed jaws in about three years! 😊
Very nice looking bowl. Never had Olive wood to work with. On my list of to-do's!
Thanks 👍
Lovely and those 2 little twigs in the hole is cool.
So unusual. Thanks, Audie! 😊
Yes, JUST Beautiful.
😊
Wow ! Beautiful! It looks like a heart in the bowl. I love it .
Thanks! 😊
MAGNIFICENT!!
I am running out of adjectives Phil! The beauty in this wood is superfluous!! How's that one?

Beautiful! Olive is such a pretty wood. Never worked with it, but have purchased some olive pieces while in Jerusalem.
Keep up the great work, Phil!
It's hard to beat Olive wood, Reuben! 😊
Absolutely gorgeous ❤️ Beautiful!
Thank you, Diane! 😊
Stunning, Maestro! Wish I could get olive here in Scotland, but it's so difficult to get. :| Another one making mother nature proud!
Keep rockin' Phil ;)
Thank you very much! 😊
Wow Phil that was one fine piece of turning of a very hard piece of wood. My shoulder is hurting just watching you cut it.
It looks amazing with those little bonus branches. When you held the bottom side up and showed the branch it looked like turtle sticking his head out.
I had a lot of fun watching you do your magic on this one.
Take care,
Gary
Oh, man, I gotta go look for the turtle! Thank you so much, my friend, see you tomorrow! 😊
You seem to become one with wood. In the science fiction world, it would be Grok.
Haha, thanks, Rob! 😊
Thata just gorgeous Phil! Wonderful grain. I can never decide if Olive or Yew is my favorite wood. They are definitely my top two.
Both are great, Karen! 😊
You served the beauty of the wood with excellents
Thank you, Nelson! 😊
Super Phil, love the figuring in this piece
😊
You did it again, Phil. What a lovely piece. and that secret place was marvelous too. Long may you reign, Mr. Anderson.
