- In today's video I head to Wetherspoons to try the hottest curry on the menu.
I'm reviewing a Naga Chilli Chicken Vindaloo - hopefully not is fiery as the Iceland Hot Sauce pizza I had recently.
Ever on the lookout for a bargain, I went on a Thursday to take advantage of the Curry Club discount.
And a pint to accompany which took me back...

Have you tried this special curry from Wetherspoons? Seems like it’s only available on their curry club days, is that right?
This was a good, fiery curry, actually enjoyed it much to my surprise!
GOOD!!!
I have had dinner and papaya for desert, but you always make me re-hungry 😂
@@jessicanippes1730 I haven't had dinner yet, so I should definitely not watch it then 🤣🤣🤣
you said you could taste the chili in it, newsflash theres no chili in curry, its all spices and no chili at least not in a proper curry
All that scran and a pint for that price, a total winner, spoons delivered again, cheers for the video Greeno. 👍💯💥
Yeah, can’t complain at the value of it. A decent pint in fairness, and a good whack of spice on the curry too!
Yesssss Greeno, it is Wetherspoons week after all 😁
Ha ha true that. No tikka masala here though pal 😉🔥🔥🔥
@@GreenoEats😂😂
Was nice to speak to you at saod weatherspoons it was me who asked what you was recording for very good content come see us again soon
Ah ok, hi Kevin! I’ve been to film a couple of things in your Wetherspoons, did a comparison of the English and American breakfast and the Brie and Bacon Burger before Xmas. Still lots for me to try, so I will be back!
@GreenoEats come see me next time or let me know when your next visit is mate was nice to see you ate it all thou 🤣
Have this every week. Good value and tasty. The onion bhajis they do are superb you must give them a try
Yeah it was decent Darren. Thanks for the tip on the bhajis😀
I love japanese curry with tofu or katsu, love both ❤ a pint for 2,50 is really good!
I will try the katsu one day, hopefully not too sweet, sometimes can be with a cheap one. Very cheap pint indeed 🍺
Katsu is the ABSOLUTE nuts
That looked like about the most heat I will do these days! Blood pressure won't take anymore, lol! Nice to see a dish thought about, no boiled white rice! And a decent naan! Might not drive passed a Wetherspoons soon!?
I'm a sucker for spice, although every now and again I do get caught out ordering something that's beyond my capabilities! The pilau rice is a nice touch. I'm a bit conflicted about Spoons as I am not overly fond of the guy who set it up, but to be fair they do have some basic, decent grub fairly priced.
@@GreenoEats There was a curry house in Carshalton Beeches, that myself and a friend used to go to on a regular basis when I still lived not far away from there! We became almost a fixture, they made a special hot curry for us they called Tindaloo! I wouldn't survive if I ate that today! It was akin to drinking lava, the foolish things you did in your twenties!🔥🔥🔥
@@Deadman1957TEB ha ha, yep, as a youth it was almost a badge of honour to try to eat the most inedibly hot curry you could. Many is the time I pretended to enjoy something I could feel melting my internal organs!
Top video like the look of that red ale greeno ,cant do a flaming hot curry though ,maybe im a wimp 😆
In fairness to Spoons they do have a good rotation of interesting beers, and generally they’re kept pretty well. I’m good with spice, as long as it’s not so crazy that it masks every other flavour
A challenge for you Greeno try the hottest curry the name of it is phall Indian curry
As always another awesome video 👍🤗🍀
I did once eat a phall back in my uni days. Not an experience I am keen to repeat, though if enough people want me to then I guess I would 🤣
The curries in Wetherspoons are excellent value...they are microwaved, but they seem a good quality product.
To squeeze even more value out of it I usually pick the most expensive drink - the large bottles of world lagers or a pint of Leffe!!
Playing the system, I like it :-)
Very enjoyable video!
Thank you!
Just love Spoons. It's the best value in the UK. I use spoons for breakfast. Coffee mornings and the occasional dinner. Sounds as if I live in them. Certainly not .3 weeks ago my last visit. I normally have a morning break on my walks around MerthyrTydfil. Other times it's Gregg's or the local Italian cafe. Was not impressed with the last curry in spoons. The rice was a lump all hard. Still nice. I ate it. Rest was pretty good. For the price it was good value. £20 in the Indian restaurants. That's one complaint I have is quite often it's Luke warm in the Brecon weatherspoons in Wales. I recommend you try the Brecon one. It's called The George hotel. Beautiful place. 4 million to take it over with the changes. WCs are immaculate. Thanks for the revue.
Not been to South Wales in years (although I have in the past lived in Magor, Cardiff and Caerphilly) - I will bear in mind your comments on the Brecon one should I find myself up there again :-)
Glad you enjoyed it. I don't like my curries too hot though. If you look up 'my little kitchen' the lady who does various curries, Shamza, goes through the procedure step by step. For many years I was doing curries wrong. I would throw all the spices in at once and more or less the ingredients and that was it. They tasted quite nice, but once you do the pummeling, I think that's what it is called and the oils and spices split, it really makes a difference. I love my curries now. I tend not to put in the same amount of chilli powder just in case I spoil it for myself. I am not a fan of Wetherspoons as I find the air a bit sweaty and the smell of the food doesn't do it for me. Tomorrow is a simple platter for me. By that I mean any bits of cheese, cooked meats, remaining salad items, olives, pickles etc I have left with some malted rye bread and butter. Tonight it was corned beef hash as I have been tidying the pantry and found that at the back of the shelf. Not out of date but from the lockdown stash. Thanks for the video.
I will check 'my little kitchen ' out, thanks for the tip. I do like to make my own curry pastes, toasting spices etc, makes a huge difference doesn't it. I still like a good whack of chilli, as long as it's not the predominant flavour. Heat and spice is what I like 🙂
Great upload
Thank you squire!
Can't beat a Pint of Brian with a Nagga - job done 🙃
Was good for sure!
Nice one…do us an update tomorrow…(Ghandies revenge)…a few years ago I had a chicken Phall from Wetherspoons…and it blew my head off…and the other end the day after…😊
I filmed this yesterday, luckily today has passed without incident 🤣🤣🤣
Love Dorch! Gave birth to my first in Dorch and have family there. Shame all the shops are closing down.
My youngest was born in Dorch too 😀 It is a lovely little town.
good old spoons i enjoy it
I’m no fan of the bloke that runs it, but to be fair they do knock out some decent food at very fair pricing. Thanks for watching 🙂
Vindaloo 🔥🔥🔥
Vindaloo with Naga chilli too, 🔥
Have you tried the Aldi chicken jalfrezi, the one without rice? Probably not as hot as that one, but enough spice to make it worth eating, and for under 4 quid!
I'll have to look that up next time I am in an Aldi, is that a fresh one or frozen?
@@GreenoEats Fresh and like I said the one without rice, comes in a circular bowl, they also do a prawn bhuna which isn't bad.
@@Deadman1957TEB Thanks for the tip!
Can't beat a spoons for a bargin meal imo (but naga vindaloo might be too hot for m3 haha!), love the 3 for £15 they did at one of my locals, was a proper feast!
Red Dragon Brains is nice, though my dad introduced me to felinfoel double dragon (straight from the brewery too!) And that was cracking
Yeah, there was a similar 3 small plate deal near me, will try it soon!
I don't know if it is still there, but if you carried on up the High Street towards the mini roundabout, there used to be an incredible curry restaurant on the left hand side.
Not sure about that, might be a Rajpoot up there?
Good advert for Spoons 👍
As I have mentioned a few times, I am no fan of the chairman of Spoons, and the way the company is run. However, you have to be fair and say they are knocking out some decent deals that are pretty useful in the current economic climate.
Nice 1 Greeno that would have burnt my mouth out!! 🔥 i don’t like mild …. Middle of the road does me! Looked a nice curry though sir…. That’s made me want one! 😂 maybe tomorrow night but I’m not heading down to Colchester…. I have a bad feeling 🔴⚪️⚽️
Some mild curries are still good as long as the spicing is good. But korma is my absolute nightmare, like chicken in custard 🤣 Curry tomorrow sounds like a good plan pal. Colchester is not a terribly pleasant ground to visit so worth giving it a swerve. I'm doing Weymouth v Braintree... Not long until the big Yeovil game on Easter Monday now!!
@@GreenoEats yeah im really not a korma fan either Greeno! I’ve past Colchester’s ground in the past but I’m leaving this one as off to the MK Dons one soon. Yeah curry tomorrow I think now … I have a chef’s special from the local Indian called a Maska it’s gorgeous 👌
@@theabandonedhunter3604 MK Dons away huh. Not been there myself, the ground’s a little too big for their fanbase I guess huh 😀 Enjoy the curry Smithy!
@@GreenoEats thanks Greeno!
Great review. Can you do Nandos next...
Thanks Nigel. Dunno if you saw my Nandos review from last year, but here it is :-) I will probably get back there again sometime to review something else, I do like a cheeky Nandos! czcams.com/video/y09O6pPN0hc/video.html
Greeno come to Ireland sometime of finds or time allows for a few comparisons 🎉
Would love to come back to Ireland sometime, been to Limerick a bunch of times, great city. Love Cork and Galway too 😀
@@GreenoEats Well I very much look forward to it my friend, I'm Dublin but I'd travel to come say hi 😁
Phaal challenge coming soon Greeno lol
Ha ha, maybe Gary 🤣🤣🤣
Microwavetastic
Probably so, but it tasted good, and for a tenner including a pint it’s not bad.
I dont find the spoons curries very spicy though very tasty 👍
Have you tried this Naga one though? It was spicier than I would expect from a pub curry for sure!
@@GreenoEats no I don't think I have, but I've not seen it in my Wetherspoons yet, I'll see if it's at Sheffield spoons when I'm there next week 👍
@@sarahillingworth2718 I think it's only available on the Curry Club menu on a Thursday, not on the normal day today menu 🙂
@@GreenoEats ahhh ok 👍
@@sarahillingworth2718let us know how you get on Sarah and that your still alive! Greeno has a big tolerance…. Far higher than mine anyway! 😂
You are very likeable! Consider me a new subscriber!
Kind of you to say so! I hope you enjoy the content 😀
All that for a tenner? In today's economy that's a bargain mate, seems like Wetherspoons has some good eats recently.
Can’t argue with the value of it that’s for sure. Never gonna be Michelin star grub, but it was certainly tasty, and better value than the similarly priced Morrisons meal I had earlier in the week.
First,that's a First
On the ball today David!
Wales????
Yep, lived in Wales from 1998-2002 and 2004 to 2011. Cardiff, Newport, Magor and Caerphilly.
@@GreenoEats 😉😁
£10.02p, What???
Yep, Wetherspoons pricing is weird isn't it!!
they do on a number of items have weird pricing. there special offers has a chicken strip burger and soft drink for £4.81. you do not really see thing with 99p at the end of in the way standard pricing goes.
@@davidsworld5837 Yeah, most places round up or down on their calculated price, Wetherspoons just work it out and that’s that!
If nothing else it def got to your nose :)
That much is certainly true!
You cant say that word anymore!
Which word??
@@GreenoEats N word
Decent value for a tenner, however the fact that it is Wetherspoons puts me off.
Understand your position entirely!
Please stop the laughing, you might crack a rib.
I actually did that not so long ago (cracked a rib, albeit not from laughing) Really painful. That actually stopped me laughing, and sleeping.
Hi geeno eats It's sad when suff on CZcams are same your them and boring when over same grown then miss Victoria Jane twibell
