  • In today's video I taste test the Roast Beef dinner at Morrisons Cafe.
    It's a budget friendly Sunday Lunch option, coming in at just £7.50, and as kids eat free you could feed a family of 4 with a roast for just £15 !!
    But how is the quality? Is it worth the money?

    Did you think this was good value at £7.50 - or did I get what I paid for?

    • @GreenoEats
      @GreenoEats  Před 7 měsíci +4

      I'm somewhere in between on this - I think there were some items which were a real let down, but others were decent.

      @@GreenoEats For me it'd be a hard pass as peas,carrots and parsnips are all sweet. The beef didn't look great either :( Just roasties would have been better in my opinion,rather than having mash as well. They could make the Aunt Bessie type roasties better if they smashed them halfway through cooking so they get a crunchier end result. There was plenty enough food there though for the price,just not stuff I'd want to eat.

      @@robmcallen798 I'm with you on the parsnips and to answer extent carrots, but I love peas. Strange isn't it. As you say plenty of food for the money, I guess you have to accept some compromise in quality for that kind of price.

    When my kids were little we could just about afford to go to a cheap caravan holiday in Cornwall and we'd go to the Newquay Morrisons cafe as a special treat we could just about afford it because of the free kids meals. Honestly, Morrisons will always have my eternal gratitude. That's a big portion they gave you.

    • @GreenoEats
      @GreenoEats  Před 7 měsíci +1

      The kids eating free thing is great isn't it. A lot of the adult meals are around £6, so to get a kids meal thrown in must have been a godsend under those circumstances.

    Y'know, this doesn't look too bad at all to me, perhaps because it's a supermarket cafe and, cooked breakfasts aside, I have very low expectations of them. I think that had there been a Morrisons near me when I was at university ( a very, very long time ago...we wrote on slates.....) I'd have been a regular on a Sunday afternoon when I wasn't feeling very well from the night before. But definitely for the half roast chicken which I think it would be interesting for you to go back and compare to the beef. Great review as always.

    After trying this a few weeks ago I can confirm the mash is smash, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding is Aunt bessys, peas I think are frozen peas, stuffing I think is a frozen one, carrots and parsnips not sure, beef it dose taste like it's from a catering pack, the gravy wasn't bad, obviously not home made but one of the better gravy's, for the price not too bad, I've had worse for for a lot more

      Hi Barbara. I tend to go with horseradish on beef, mustard on gammon. But all they had was ketchup and brown sauce lol. I actually prefer the English mustard, Coleman's type of stuff. Something with a bit of fire to it. Perfect on a pork pie 🙂

    Looks good for £7.50 but why do you food vloggers always shove a fork full of food towards the camera, we can see it without it being shoved in our face. 9 times out of 10 the closeups are out of focus too. Don't do it,it's unnecessary and irritating.

    I know it is £7.50 but i did expect more than what looks like 1 slice. the stuffing looks very dry. and why does it look like they painted gravy around the jug.
    i would rather just have cauli with out the cheese sauce.
    but really for £7.50 I could still make a meal for two with that much money.
