    Someone may have already mention it, but the temp probe should go in the smallest item, then move it to the next larger item when the small one is at preferred temp, and so on, to the biggest last. Hope that helps. Also the hopper on my Timberline 850 holds about about a bag and a half of Traeger bagged pellets.

    Good to see they added a gasket for the lid. I have an old Traeger I got at Costco 7 years ago... I added wool tape to the lid to function as a gasket.

    FYI - It is not just "thick steel", but insulated walls for colder temps.

      before you become sold on something that will disappoint, FIRST do your due diligence... 1 minute to check out Rec Teq Grills. guarantee you will find terrible reviews on Traegers all over the web, including on the 850, but will barely find any on Recteq. Not to mention the fact that they're half the cost and much better construction. Check them out on youtube. I'm just giving you a heads up from a former Traeger owner who's goal is to spread the truth about the crap they sell. www.recteq.com/the-recteq-difference

    you can buy a bluetooth thermal probe set and pair with the grill, then view with your phone app.... you don't expect them to give you a multiport setup, do you ?

    • @BBQandBottles
      @BBQandBottles  Před 4 lety +2

      Bruce, two problems with that. One, Bluetooth only has a ~30-50ft range vs this grill connects into your wifi so you can access the info anywhere you have a cell connection. Secondly, the Traeger App lets you control the temperature of the pellet grill itself - something you couldn’t do with a 3rd party temp probe. Anyway, for the price I would have expected multiple temp probes. A little disappointing.

      @BBQandBottles  Před 3 lety

      Like if you want it to be part of an outdoor kitchen? You could do that, the only thing I’d flag is you’ll need to still be able to access the grease trap and you may want to be able to access the pellet release door at the back of the hopper. So it might take some thinking on how you accomplish that.

    • @BBQandBottles
      @BBQandBottles  Před 3 lety

      I wouldn’t say it does a great job on the searing part. I usually have my gas grill fired up to sear it off after smoking it on the Traeger.

      What pellets are you using? Don't use traeger or pitboss pellets. You won't get good temps. Try lumberjack. Make sure they are 100% hardwood. I have the timberline 1300 d2 and started getting pissed. Now with other pellets I'm at 350 in 20 mins and 500 in 30.
