  • Hello and welcome to another video!
This is a video I’ve been so excited about. The feedback from my first video was amazing and this is a question that always comes up Broil king or Traeger. Hopefully today we are going to settle this debate once and for all!

If you're going with a pellet, I'd recommend cooking your briskets at 107 celsius (225f) and add an additional rack to remove the meat from the heating element a little more. don't spray too often or the the evaporation process will take longer. Should take anywhere from 10-14 hours. let it rest in your oven overnight at the lowest setting. I promise that if you do all that, you won't need all of the probes. You really should only probe the thickest part of the flat. Probing the point is a fool's errand since there is so much fat that cooks unevenly. since the heat is coming directly from the bottom, the bark will take longer to form on the top. that's why a longer cook at a lower temp will really help.

This. I have a Traeger and I have finally recognized the key to melt in your mouth is not just temp, but time at temp. I have had to learn patience and to slow the cook down between 180 and 200. I had two shoulders cooked the "same" but one went from 180 to 200 in about an hour and one took 3 hours to go from 180 to 196 (never hit 200) and the second one was mind blowing texture.

It's interesting that both these grills are priced at 1700 pounds in the UK. In the US, the Traeger Timberline 850 is $1800, while the Broil King Regal 500 can be had for about $1330 (prices as of today). If indeed the Broil King is the better choice, that's a no brainer. Besides the Broil King winning out on taste, were there any things you felt the Traeger did better that are worth noting? I've been looking for an insulated pellet grill to replace my 8 year old Traeger lil Tex Elite since that particular grill has trouble with temperatures when it gets cold here in PA. Its a shame these line of Broil King grills are made in China. I just bought one expecting otherwise. When it was delivered I was sad to find out its made in China.

Far, far from cooked nicely. Too be honest? Brisket cooked well should never (never) be that difficult to break/tear up. Sorry my friend…. That’s a million miles off a well cooked Brisket. Far, far from it. Sorry. Just…. Saying it like it is. You know it, I know it.
    Regards.
