Looks to be a worldwide curse! You may think you’re a homeowner or business owner and own a piece of land, but if your government wants it for whatever reason you can kiss it good-bye😡. So very sad and madly infuriating !! Paul, thank you for getting these places documented.👍🏻

hence why I rent. The term Homeowner is the biggest fraudulent lie ever. Nobody actually owns anything. It’s more like you pay a bank for a 99year lease unless you sell or mindless governments do like above.

One of my memories of living in Adelaide as a child and later travelling back to the city to visit family, was driving 🚙along Magill and Portrush Road, lined with charming old homes 🏡with stone facades and beautiful gardens. My heart sinks that so many of the grand homes are being demolished, including the grand old Federation Bungalow 🏚and Victorian Villa, 🏡that you have fortunately been able to capture in this video, before being lost forever.

This makes me so angry. Why was the intersection widened. There wasn't enough traffic there to warrant this destruction. The trucks that travel on Portrush road IMO should be diverted to the back of the hills and run down Grand Junction Rd. If it was done for these reasons, it's a travesty and a disgrace.

So the city forced these families to leave their homes so it could widen the streets, and then widened the streets without utilizing any of the families’ property. Whoops! How awful for these former property owners. Nothing could be more frustrating.

Wondering who had prior knowledge of the area’s development before Kozy Kids bought the place.
State/Territory Government Land Valuations Department’s have up to at least 7 years prior notice of major infrastructure changes, though you need to be connected in some way to gain knowledge of these changes. I feel sorry for both the effected families and owners.

This is so sad for the families that lost their homes. Disgustingly this is another case of the government not being for the people. How much money will they make selling the excess land to developers. They all have their hands in each others pockets. I just don't understand why people keep thinking that government even cares about the Australian people....with anything. They only care about power, money and ruining lives. If the business owners were Choked at having to retreat from roadway upgrades, who would blame them. There is a difference between urban planning and wanton destruction. A lot of history is lost to wiping out any charm or antique architecture, and forcing valid contributing business owners out of the area.Perhaps, in another 15 or 20 years, Electric vehicles will allow older streets and roadways to be left as they are. Will certainly help the noise pollution. Cheers.

I drive through this intersection often and I totally understand the upgrade and widening of Portrush Rd. It's the major arterial road from Melbourne to the North of Adelaide for our transport vehicles.
But, since the completion of the majority of the widening I'm struggling to understand what will fill the 5 or so metres currently not used for anything but a strip of dirt.
So considering they went to all that effort to demolish such beautiful irreplaceable homes, especially the Kozy Kid's Bungalow.
I really hope that space will be used to plant a ton of tree's and shrubs, a bike path and pedestrian footpath.
    Time will tell...
Thanks for the memories, as I lived near that intersection and remember the original bungalow way before it became a childcare centre.

Sixty years ago, in the city of my birth, an entire neighborhood was destroyed for a new four lane highway. Unfortunately, the powers that was didn’t care because most everyone that lived in that area were people of color. The neighborhood they destroyed was a close knit community that had everything from butchers to hair salons within walking distance. When the road was built, it literally cut the community in half, leaving families separated. With all the businesses gone, they had to beg for rides or ride for long distances on buses in order to shop or go to work. 😔
