I'd love if people reviewing chairs add their "Sitting Shoulder Height" (when seated, measure from bottom sitting on the seat to the base of neck where the bone sticks out a little on the back of the neck). This metric is crucial. It measures your seated spine height. And can give great indication on if the back of the chair matches your back. Is it tall enough, too short, where does the lumbar sit, can it be adjusted enough. With this measurement people at home can reference it to see if they will have a similar experience with the backrest.

Is the noise noticeable when moving around in the chair? I got the embody but had to return because it was too noisy

Cutting the fabric edges with a knife a little bit in the lumbar support region might be a solution for lowering its position? (haven't tried it, just guessing)

Can you remove the headrest? Ive found one but might want to remove it

The headrest doesn't come off, but you can move it back so it's out of the way

So it seems this chair is perfect if you're 6 feet tall. At 5' 8" i think i may be too short. Shame cos the only other chair I like better in styling and attributes is the embody, but it's the most expensive of all and ax reasonable number of people also don't seem to gel with it.
Actually just found this on another website: 3. Adjust the Backrest
One of the most important parts of any chair is the backrest. If it’s not properly supporting your spine, you will be uncomfortable. The good news is that the backrest on the Steelcase Gesture is adjustable, so you can customize it to fit your needs. To adjust the backrest, loosen the knob at the top of the chair. Then, push the backrest forward or backward to find the perfect position for you. Once you’ve found the right position, tighten the knob to lock the backrest in place.
I can't tell if that's simply describing reclining the backrest though, which would be truly moronic if that's all they are describing!

Not sure what knob they're talking about, there are only 4 positions where the backrest can stop, but you can't lock it to permanently stay at any of them.
Sounds like random garbage from a spam site.

Also it starts squeaking after 4 months.

@@1BergerVongSchlauigkeitHerthe embody gaming squeaks from day one (or more accurately just makes a kind of crunching noise when you move).

@@formulaic78 Excellent. I guess my next expensive chair will be a different brand. But until this one breaks and the warranty period is over, I'll squeak.

@@1BergerVongSchlauigkeitHerI justified the embody price by the 12 year warranty. So I'll be in it for next 11.5 years! If if were choosing again I think I might go for the fern with digital knit. But I haven't actually sat in it; just seems with what I now know that it might be right for me (with Atlas headrest).
I quite like the embody but I find the backrest a bit hard and the curvature a little bit much for me (though I've adapted to it quite a lot over half a year). It's probably doing me good but not being as comfortable as I had expected (I don't know how anyone could say it's like a cloud, or just disappears). The noise doesn't actually bother me that much; though that's partly cos I don't move around in it much which is supposed to be a USP.

How intrusive is the headrest when youre sitting upright and your whole back is on the chair? Does it push your head forward?
Considering buying this but worried about that headrest, seems like the furthest back it can go is still quite forward...

    • @SystematicHardware
      @SystematicHardware  Před rokem

The headrest is fully adjustable so there's no way it can push your head forward. The problem I had was that all the headrests in most chairs didn't come forward enough.
