Is Disgaea 7 any good?
"save it for the bedroom"
IKR?. 😂
Bow chicka bow wow.
I laughed OUT LOUD alone in my room and slapped a hand over my mouth. That one got me
Not surprised
Yes. A genuine laugh out loud.
Holy crap, that Ash impression was legitimately great.
Well Matt sure thought so.
“Save it for the bedroom”
I paused the video see if anybody else noticed. Freaky good impression.
Ash was played by a woman. Maybe Shelby is destined to take on the mantle next.
Literally had to stop and do a double take - shit! 😂
"If they're anywhere near as incompetent as the people who make the games at Game Freak, then Palworld will be just fine" couldn't have said it better myself
Well considering that the chance of them being sued is high i doubt too
@@icecontrol1 You're high if you think that
@@icecontrol1 The chances of them being sued are very low, Palworld was revealed in 2022. If Nintendo could sue, they would have most likely done so by now.
@@icecontrol1Nah, I put the odds at 8 to 1 against them being sued and 20 to 1 that they lose if that does happen.

When I saw Deprsso mining for the first time, I can hear We all lift together started playing.
YES i love that song
It was the song "Where there's a whip, there's a way" from the Return of the King animated movie for me.
The opening song from Prince of Egypt for me... "With the sting of the whip on my shoulders..." My pals are gonna bring the plague on me
I hated cooking and crafting things, but what I learned is you have to have Pals do that for you. Keep them fed, keep them bed, tell your base pals to craft while you go do more exploring, then come back to your stuff already made
Yeah bit disappointing that this concept was kind of missed by shelby and matt. Seeing as the only flying mount they had was nightwing, it shows they should have played a bit more.
It felt a bit like "This is not a pokemon only game" and then it was reviewed only for its pokemon aspects.
@@onimus93 I find they frequently miss obvious things. Like, it was sleeping, because it was tired. Assigning it to a role doesn't mean it'll only do that until it dies. It means that the only job it will do is that.
This game takes an opposite approach to most.
The early and middle game is grindy, but still fun. And the end game is less grindy because now youve got three bases, one for production, one for mining, and one for breeding and farming to where now most of your grind is focused on moving resources to craft things to go exploring with. Its not like in runescape where after level 70 woodcutting and mining remain unprofitable and grindy.
Your hard work in the beginning makes your gameplay after extremely efficient, so now you can leave your base for two days to go on catching/killing sprees for resources, raiding dungeons and boss chambers, ect.
@@onimus93 People's can't even fathom the idea its not pokemon so they try to force it. Like Grintale = Gengar? What? It's a big chonky Cheshire cat. How you stretching so hard you make it Gengar?
@@Elite02k Early game is only grindy if you dont know what you're doing and you make bad assumptions and try to do everything yourself. Lamball, cattiva, tanzee, and foxsparks. That should handle basically all your gathering and crafting/cooking needs. Add on another tanzee and a Pengullet for your first berry farm. Your pals could be doing everything people say is grindy while they explore the world. But they choose not to and then blame the game. And if you are gonna craft yourself for some reason, spend points in work speed, only 4 points triples your base crafting speed. It's a huge +50% per point. If you decide to craft yourself instead of letting your pals handling it without boosting your crafting speed then you have only yourself to blame.
"Palworld is like 2 in the pink, one in the stink" Well that's sure one way to put it.
I don't understand how Palworld is bad, it's a cheap early access game made by a couple of ppl, and already it beats EVERY pokimon game since the release of the crappy Nintendo switch. Let's just face it, Nintendo spends 10% effort in making outdated garbage games and consoles, and 90% efforts in legal actions to make sure there is abosoltely no competition or even comparison in its genre.

that's the most rtarted thing to say especially when you weirdoes have one of the most biggest hate boner for furries.
the syndicate death sounds is the best part of the game hands down.
6:04 "Your dentist's name is Krentist? Sounds a lot like dentist..."
Maybe that's why he became a dentist.
2:46 Ah yes, Shelter 69. My favourite Pokemon clone XD
Your experience is entirely different from my girlfriend and I's experience.
We were going out of our way to make sure those cute little pals were not stressed out while they kept the base running. Hottubs and fluffy beds, swapping them out as much as possible.
Not to mention that there's so much excess food you get from berry and wheat farms that I literally never once had to butcher a pal for food. The ranch was basically just a palsphere, arrow, gold, and flame organ farm because vixy, flamebelle, and mau would just constantly produce it while chilling in there.
I did end up catching a syndicate thug just because all the people who talk about this game rant and rave about "catching people and forcing them to work" but I immediately realized just how utterly trash the people are in this game both in terms of combat capabilities and in terms of work ability. And I literally never had the desire to go around catching people again.
Most of my time was spent exploring, catching new Pals, and building a grandiose base.
This game was no where near as "Dark and edgy" as pretty much every youtube creator makes it out to be.
You have the capacity to be an absolute monster if you choose to, but lots of games allow that and we don't cause an uproar over those.
This game feels like Pokemon, ARK, Monster Hunter, and Animal Crossing, all had one giant fever dream baby.
bit of Breath of the Wild thrown in as well
And is bad in every one of them
I played solo and it was an impressively stable experience for early access. (Again, in the *single player* version of the game.) I played about 60 hours and had a lot of fun with it and I'll probably play again when they stabilize the multiplayer. Definitely worth $30, though.
I only had a couple problems.
Pal pathing was wonky and I would have pals escape my base and have themselves locked outside, where they would starve and develop mental health disorders. Or they'd trap themselves on top of things, where they would starve and develop mental health disorders. It was pretty easy to avoid once I started looking for the starving pal icon by calling them back to the pal box.
My primary base stopped getting raided after I beat the first tower and my secondary/tertiary bases were on mountains, so when they were raided the enemy NPCs were never able to reach the base and just despawned. This basically made it so I never had to replace the wooden walls around my base or the stone I made the base out of, removing any need for the building progression tier.
Finally on one occasion, I teleported to an NPC town and several of the NPCs spawned in floating high above the ground. They subsequently fell to their death and I was murdered by angry city guards for the crime of being a witness.
Nothing else of note happened to me. I actually felt confident enough in the game to install a few mods, like the one that lets you remove stamina cost for flying and another that doubles the amount of technology points you get per level up, so you'll actually unlock all the available technology when you reach maximum level. (Instead of having to farm out the skill books.)
I had one base stop getting raids so I turned off structure decay and built them a staircase so they could reach me :D.
"I played solo and it was an impressively stable experience for early access" the bar is on the ground
@n4761 I encountered a few small bugs and was able to play through all of the developer's intended content. Again, in early access.
I don't know what bar you're talking about, but it probably isn't there because you're delusional.
I see you have absolutely no reading comprehension skills whatsoever. So I'll explain this as if you're a toddler. No game should be released in an unstable state. None. No amount of arbitrary labels(beta, early access) negates that. Bugs? Of course, but bug is not synonymous with stability. the stability of a game is based on if the game is crashing or breaking beyond the point of play. We shouldn't be clapping and cheering because someone released a video game that opens when you click on it. You're praising the bare minimum like it means something when it doesn't. Would you like me to get some crayons and draw this out for you?@@TheFallingFlamingo
Depresso: "mine rocks for 16 hours and what do ya get?"
"You load 16 tons, what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt."
Depresso's are not really the best work force 😊
None of the other Pokemon-likes plays remotely anything like Palworld does: most of them rely on Pokemon's tried and tested turn-based battle format with capturing and raising. Palworld does all of that in a fully real-time world: you're not waiting your opponent to make their move, then you having to do the same out of menus, you see your Pals attack and move around in in real time while you're also contributing to the fight via your firearms. As many people point out, it's more of an Ark clone than a Pokemon clone, just replace the dinosaurs with cute cartoony creatures.
Well said
most accurate comment
runs just about as well as ark too
Honestly its not even Ark because Ark has perma dino death, stupidly long tame timers, is a PITA to properly setup and balance for single player, doesn't have the automation loop like Palworld, and then after you build everything up 1 alpha carnotaur comes along and destroys 60 hours of work. and that's single player, which is not real ARK. Real Ark is griefing disguised as PVP, picking up naked players off the beach and dropping them into shark infested waters, finding a solo player with a bow and a spear with your 20 person end game guild and rolling up on them with space age weapons and taking them prisoner and refusing to let them die while you pelt them with Charcoal. No, Palworld is its own unique experience unlike either Ark or Pokemon. And its all about the pals. At your base, in the wild, and even the best personal damage builds to buff player damage are pal reliant.
@@Ralathar44 Well to be fair PvP is coming. Maybe we'll be force feeding night night berries to each other before ya know it.
We need a Helldivers 2 video, pleeease. I think you both will love it. It's one of the most fun games that i have played in a looong time, proper "rule of cool" fun.
My first base was set up on the exact same place as yours, and my raid experiences were all the same as well AHAHA with every invader getting stuck on that little slope.
Great video as always, guys
We need to talk about how you not only know what a Rolodex is, you have one as a prop. 🤯
Do we? What's wrong with knowing what a rolodex is?
0:47 😂 That impression! 😂👏
I love these kinds sit down reviews and you guys kinda riffing and making each other laugh. More duo reviews!
I REALLY enjoyed this video. Don't get me wrong, Matt's multiple-day edits are amazing, but it's just as fun to see you guys chatting and joking with each other in a setting like this. And if that means you can stress out a little less while doing it, that's even better! Now let me watch that ad-read again so y'all can get paid the big bucks.
Thank you so much! Glad to hear that 😊
Shelby's Ash impression caught me. She will really catch them all.😂
It seems like a lot of the main complaints are lag (and the AI) related. Traversal is much better when not playing on a server.
One of the big positives that they mentioned without realising is the world settings. I like a bit of the collection and crafting loop, but it is amazing they gave players they way to adjust the game to what they want from it right off the bat.
Most fun gaming related channel I've seen in years. Keep up the good work!!!
Thankyou.
After the weekend when Pal hit 5mill.

I love you two, your videos are so much fun. I am glad I found you.
I love you guys so much, and I love this new format for your videos too with both of you reviewing it from your different perspectives! :)
the funny part is that Palworld is still in early access and yet it is fun ass hell compared to AAA games nowadays.
Depends how you play the game tbh
If you expect the game is good before even play it. Well yeah. the game is bad.
but if you actually playing the game, you will find the fun, the good, the ugly part out of it.

Loved your oldie where you reviewed the indie games that struck that special chord in your heart (except for Dead Cells bc of all the diarrhea Christmas lights). Do some more indie reviews like Cocoon, Pocket Beasts, and Dave the Diver.
palworld is an indie. dave the diver however was published by people who made maple story and vindictus, i wouldnt call that indie
I’ve been waiting for this!
I was waiting for that "They're the same picture" moment

"two in the pink, one in the stink", not even 10 seconds prior to the ad-read was wild.
Your Ash impression is spot-on!
My favorite off brand product I have seen was at a state fair, and it was off brand permanent markets.
Skerples, they were amazing.
X in the pink, y in the stink sounds like a great way of rating games in the future. Similar to the moist meter.
I hope someone at Gamefreak and Nintendo watch the videos of the fans of pokemon, listen to what we all like and want, and make a game we all can enjoy
I, too, have completely unrealistic fantasies
they don't care, pokemon is one of the most profitable franchises in the world with minimal effort involved. why would they invest more than they need to and take risks ?
sadly youre absolutely correct T_T @@danilooliveira6580
even in the dogshit state that the games are released in they're selling in millions day one. They're not gonna fix what's profitable enough. That's the problem with blind brand following and lack of competition.
Game Freak doesn't want fans, they want customers.
Honestly. Your channel is the most authentic reviews of games out there. And I appreciate honesty.
Thanks.
I am thumbs up 👍 for Shelby's Ash impression!!
What is the name of the guitar music they put in the beginning of the video?

what a video! , loved it as always! , but gota be honest here, that cookunity thing looks greaaat D:
Forget to mention its not even 1month out and its still in Early Access
And its still performance and bug wise much stable than scarlet and violet after 1 year xD (and all other switch poke games)

Matt coming in hot with the zingers 😂 Fantastic video as always! Love you both!!
Interesting video format. Is it just for this video because you played it together? Or is this something you're thinking about transitioning into? Or is this how you're going to cover games you played together?
I like the way you usually review games, but I'm also excited to see you try new things. I liked the video.
10:05 I never connected Shelby to Molly Shannon before this exact moment, and now it's all I can think about.
Wow that is the greatest compliment, thank you.
I love that most of the gripes you had on this game can be easily fixed, since it's still in Early Access
You guys are awesome! I do miss your initial style of editing humor, lots of references and quick witty asides and such. But it's always a pleasure. Be well 🤟🏻
Now do Helldivers 2 next! I would LOVE to see your take on that one with your humour. Love the vids keep it up!
Those thighs plus Ash's voice DAYUM
This game is great, the exploration is top notch, they just need to fix the AI, its rage inducing how dumb your pals are at base, whenever you build something slightly narrow, or at the edge of your base, they can and WILL get stuck and starve, and good luck making them help you on your assembly line.
A lot of my qualms with the game also boil down to jank, maybe a new area would be cool but other than that this game’s great
They already released one major patch quickly that massively reduced this and made pals also teleport often if they get stuck. I'm sure they will continue to do more. TBH this is not bad for the first blush early access state of the game. This appears to be their "minimum viable product" released as early as they could to start getting feedback to patch it up with. Also, alot of the issues in multiplayer are because server providers oversold themselves to capitalize on the gold rush. Hosting solutions we've used for years were running horribly. And that's not Palworld's fault.
Glorious work!
That save it for the bedroom line almost killed me
Its in Early Access, I wanna see another video once its fully released ❤❤
“Are you talkin’ ‘bout your cat bus?” - HOW HAS NOBODY MADE THAT CONNECTION UNTIL NOW
Dude right?! I already thought about the torodora connection… can’t believe I didn’t see the catbus until now
Totoro… just finished watching toradora lol
Literally everybody has LOL! 😂 Where have you been?
Because people are too busy trying to force everything to be a pokemon and giving GameFreak credit for mythology and basic animal designs. Gamefreak does not own "basic fox, basic penguin, basic monkee, basic wolf, etc". That's not copying pokemon, that's basing your design off of real IRL animals. Like a big chesire cat is Gengar? Or people saying chillet (and ice ferret) copied dratini (a water serpent). Really its all so incredibly stupid.
Also another one: Grizzbolt has nothing to do with Raichu or Electrobuzz or etc. If he resembles anything he's electric Totoro, from the same movie as the Cat Bus.
Shelby your ash voice is on point.
I appreciate this channel 🎉❤
"save it for the bedroom"
haha-.....wait WHAT?!
For a lot of the problems you describe there is a solution implemented in the game.
I used my pals to craft my items. Travelsel is way easier with mounts, so it was fine for me the moment i unlocked one.
Yeah pals sleep, because they are tired.
Just do smt different in the meantime or go to bed yourself ...
The only real problem for me is jank, but its an Early Access title and the core gameplay loop feels good. So not a major problem to me...
Aye, they're trying to play it like a survival game with pokemon. But its an automation game with pals that uses survival game mechanics as a foundation for its automation. They prolly didn't even skill into work speed (which gives a massive 50% per level, tripling your personal craft speed with only 4 points spent) while also complaining about craft times lol. And then rather than just go do one of the 50 things on your list they said "I have the patience of a squirrel" and then stayed to craft something themselves lol. There is almost never a reason to craft or build something yourself.
@@Ralathar44 Yup, the game should tell you to find a pal that is good at crafting, because seeing people say it's boring to craft things is kind of a waste. Like, don't and let your pals do it and come back later to collect it. Or even better, find a pal that is lv.2 at it and it doubles the crafting speed, which it does for every level.
enjoyed the format for this review. palworld is certainly something 😂

5:32 wow, the vocals👍🏾.
nothing to do with the review in fact im not even a full minute into the video but doing an impression of anime Ash so well and then immediately replying with 'save it for the bedroom' immaculate content guys pls keep it up
Its wild seeing all the glitches you guys are getting. I wonder if its more common from the multiplayer aspect (Oh hey, something else they ahem borrowed from Pokemon). I never had single crash or stutter before installing mods, weird how the experience can be so different.
Having played just by myself and on a server, yeah, multiplayer makes things much laggier. A bit of a shame, since it also makes the game way funnier too. I hope the game continues to be bug fixed and optimized to mitigate that jank, but I suspect a part of it may just be inherent to multiplayer games played online.
Yeah that video of her climbing and warping all around 100% sums up the multiplayer experience. We have a private server and jesus christ it adds a 10x jank multiplier
Yeah its the multiplayer. I played about 10 hours solo, and then had my partner make a server and joined her game, and its crazy how different it is. Grappling is straight up broken, climbing is glitchy at the best of times, if you jump while climbing you get teleported downward, Pals often just teleport out of existence, and projectiles go through solid objects lol. Still not enough to ruin the fun stuff, but definitely put a damper on the experience.
Note that some of this is due to server providers overselling themselves. We have some server solutions we've used for years that were giving us terrible latency and running poorly. And that makes multiplayer issues far worse. That's really not Palworld's fault though. Once things chill out a bit and server providers get back down to the amount of customers they actually have the resources to support we'll see how Palworld works on a proper dedicated server.
@@Ralathar44no, I hosted my own server and it ran like dog shit. if any other open world multiplayer game hosts fine on my machine, that is definitively "Palworld's fault" lol
"Early Access" - You can literally change any setting you don't like to make it less grindy and the pals are supposed to be crafting for you, not you standing there. Get an Anubis he makes 8million arrows an hour!
Thanks for the review. I didn't have that issue with raids. I guess everyone's experience is different.
this ninja said save it for the bedroom xddddd MY GUY
There are definitely some pals that look like pokemon but the ones that are brought up the most are just generic animals. The ones they brought up were just a beige fox, green monkey and, blue penguin.
Pokemon Breath of the Wild. Come on Nintendo, WE'RE WAITING
Shelby's fake laugh got me 🤣
Play Helldivers 2 together :D... Matt will need a new arm after deploying stratagems and firing while reviving Shelby.
The edge of Pokemon has over Palworld is that Pokemon has in depth mechanic like what kind of moves your pokemon potentially has and more strategy overall, Palworld is just mostly action game, but when they add PvP there will be a massive spike increase on Pal World player
Palworld also let you control your Pal's moves, with the extra depth that you also need to consider how the skills functions in real time instead of just a damage number.
At the end of the day it's a somewhat decent, properly open-world monster catching game. I think that's the real appeal for it.
Well, that and you can catch humans with pal spheres (that's not a bug, that's intentional).
2:44 Monster Sanctuary! Someone else mentioned it! Alleluia!
Grappling hooks have been the best thing in gaming ever since Bionic Commando came out for the NES way back in 1988.
Wow I didn't expect you guys to be one of the many people just comparing this to Pokemon, and completeling missing why this game is so good: the gameplay loops.
You didn't expect game critics to act like 100% generic games critics?
