Welcome back guys! In todays video I will show you the horsepower and torque gains that can be had by running 06-08 TSX Cams on a K20Z3. This mod is a great way to get tons of torque and mid-range horsepower on these motors, making a similar powerband to a full K24 Swap.
I got my TSX cams for $50 from the junkyard and it is the best $50 I’ve ever spent

Thank you for breaking it down and actually getting in depth about the differences from the z3 cams and tsx cams!! I’ve always wondered how much of an impact they actually made
You’re welcome I’m gonna try and share as much of my knowledge with you guys as possible
Amen brotha! For real thanks @staticspeed
Great content always my brother, got those Tsx cams for tha low 👍🏼 👌🏼
Dope video. Thanks for sharing this knowledge.
Nice graph and info. I'm running a stock z1 head atop a k24a. I've been looking at tsx cams lately.
I have a k24a with tsx exhaust cam, and k20a2 intake cam, 50°vtc springs and retainers Brian Crower, and k20a2 oil pupm tuned, and car runs very well..
Sheesh another one bro bet
Dropping only gems from now on 👌🏻
Amazing video brother. Just subscribed. Seems like an 8th gen w/ k20z3 would benefit more from drop in cam, intake manifold upgrade, header than the traditional I/H/E big 3 combo everyone runs in the beginning. I get why everyone does the big 3 first and build on it but if you only had a certain amount to spend - seems like you could get more the other way.
Would love to hear your expert opinion though cause I’m definitely not that.
Definitely would do I/H/E before drop in cams. You will only benefit from the bigger cams if you have all the other weak points taken care of. After I/H/E I would say do TB, Injectors, then cams
@@staticspeedproductions8087 Makes sense. I think you are right. A more aggressive cam and perhaps certainly you are correct. But a drop in cam Im not sure. Why do you suppose skunk 2 says on all their cams the only requirement is header and valve train (if stage 2+) and not intake/exhaust? Ive watched a lot of videos lately of tuning and many guys are getting only 3-4 hp more w intake while a cam can give you 15+ and more mid range torque. Seems the intake manifold and cam would help a lot more than Intake and TB. Saw another video on the K20z3 and all the guy did was change the IM and left intake stock and saw a variance of 20hp based on Im alone and tested 4 diff manifolds. I suppose Ill try it and report back to you my findings.
Ive seen 205-218 to be standard numbers (diff Dynos and altitudes) with I/H/E. Im hoping to get same numbers with my combo but a lot more torque.
Anyways I appreciate your time. If you are correct - which you most likely are - Ill write back to tell you.
Just gained a customer 15WHP/15LBFT just by adding a 3.5” intake and retuning. An intake or exhaust can be just as effective as a drop in cam if properly tuned. Cams take longer to install and if you want to really make power you need cams that require the valve train to be replaced. Then you’re looking at $1200+. I’d rather do the $300 intake first
@@staticspeedproductions8087 makes total sense. Thank you brother. I’ve seen a lot of tuners only get 4-6 out of intake but i guess there are other factors like temps, altitude, and other supporting mods as you say.
Exactly. The power potential compounds the more mods you already have. He already had Header and Exhaust which is why just adding the intake was able to make that much.
What about skunk 2 or drag cartel cams in comparison with the tsx cams?
Excellent video bro . Which intake is that at the end? I've been trying to get one of those
Thank you and it’s just an eBay K&N replica. Not sure if they make it anymore but it is called the Airflow Dynamic Intake. It works great in cold weather but as soon as it gets hot it really suffers
@@staticspeedproductions8087 ok thanks, I'll see if I can find it
That's next on my list
I got some for you if you’re ready
U got some for sell?
Maybe you would know the answer to this: I have a k2472 in the car, could I use the K24a2 CAM? I came across a complete K24a2 head RBB-1 for a fair price.
K is the way
Can you just change the camshaft?, you don’t need the tsx ecu? To tune. You can just tune through hondata
The best intake cam wich is?
Are all 04-08 TSX exhaust cams the same part or did they change it between 06-08? Also, I'm FBO on Flashpro basemap atm, but which would give more gains? TSX exhaust cam first, or, I saw one of your comments, injectors and TB? Just seen a lot of people say its not worth getting bigger TB without cams, as stock TB is fine with stock cams.
All TSX exhaust cams are the same correct, only the intake cam changed. In my experience I would say if you can’t get your hands on an 06-08 set with intake and exhaust cams then don’t do the mod at all. Instead I would purely just upgrade to 550cc injectors and start using E85. Throttle body gives decent gains on stock cams but I would only upgrade that if you can find it from the junkyard. It’s not $350 worth of power gains but it’s definitely worth $100
@@staticspeedproductions8087 oh so its actually worth going intake AND exhaust cams from TSX (06-08). I would've thought z3 intake cams were fine with tsx exhaust cams, but yeah I would go bigger injectors and e85 but its my daily so I don't want to worry about e85 just yet lol. Thanks for the insight though.
Yes the 06-08 Intake cam has the largest low cam lobe of any K series can and has an extremely similar high cam lobe to the JDM K20A
Dude, could you make me a map for my flashpro? Forget what video but thought you mentioned you make maps for people. Thanks!
Of course man text me 727-614-3556 I’ll get back with you this evening
Would changing vtec up and lowers make more power top end on the k24 cams?
Not necessarily more power up top but you can optimize the powerband in the midrange by using a VTEC point about 250-500RPM higher than the K20 cams optimal point
I’ve heard that the 08 tsx cams are better and different than the 04 to 07 tsx cams!?
How does the TSX cams run on a stock ecu?.. Live in CA and we need to run our stock ecu to pass inspection. Thanks!
Won’t make much difference since you need aftermarket ecu for tune
They run on the stock tune but not well. You can run stock ECU and just get Hondata Flashpro and I can make you a tune for the cams. Then you can reflash back to stock for inspection
How hard is the install?
Can i run 50vtc on k20z3?
What about a K20a2 with tsx cams?
The gains would be very similar
Thats whats up bro but i think stock z3 is the way to go, put a type s oil pump and rip it to the moon....thats crazy my boy has always said that the z3 cams are better than the tsx and u just proved it! Crazy 🤪
Hey man I think you should rewatch the video again. The TSX cams bring more power and torque throughout the powerband compared to Z3 Cams. Z3 cams only make a little more power from 6-7K but the gains from TSX Cams at 4-5K far outweigh that
@StaticSpeed Productions yeah but thats on the mid range, when ur running them ur staying in the powerband 7-8.5k thru out the run in every gear.....my buddy had this setup and we kept betting him. Thats when my buddy started saying that the cross over is aggressive but u need that top end thats where our power is at...n he's right
This is true but the TSX Cams make more power than the stock cams from 7600-8600 anyways so that’s why I’m saying the TSX Cams are the move. All about preference I guess. The low end and midrange makes it way more enjoyable for daily driving in my book
@@staticspeedproductions8087 thats big facts!
I heard k24 on intake and z3 on exhaust makes good power idk if is true🤔
It’s actually the other way around. Z3 Intake cam and TSX exhaust is a good combo too. Best of both worlds
@@staticspeedproductions8087 that would be a great video🤔
I know but there’s no way I’m doing that job again lol. If you do it on your car and I tune it I can compare it to the others. I have a pair for $150 if you’re interested DM me on Instagram
@staticspeedproductions8087 do you ever do the z3 intake tsx exhaust video? Do you think it might clean up the dyno graph a bit?
Great Video and informative. I have a set of 2008 TSX Cams for sale if anyone is interested. I am in Ga.
U still got them?
@@martingonzalez5168 Yes, I till have them.

If your interested JLMK, I am on the road and will be home in the morning and will hit you back
For k20z4 which cams you suggest?
Its better mod than put from fd2?
I would say TSX exhaust cam and FD2 intake cam would be the best combo
@@staticspeedproductions8087 any part #'s on both the TSX exhaust cam and FD2 intake came?
@@tesrealnamenogimics need that
@@staticspeedproductions8087 the tsx exhaust 2006 08 isn't more aggresive from fd2?
Ktuner or Hondata for 8thgen???
Hondata, much better than k-tuner
@@staticspeedproductions8087 I get that alot but why ??? That should be one of your videos actually show the difference between the two. Software and gains of both
They can get the same power gains but it’s way easier and faster for the tuner if using Hondata since it has live tuning. I can tune a car on Hondata in 45-90 minutes but with ktuner it can take 60-120 Minutes to get the same results.
@@staticspeedproductions8087 oh shoot. I always wanted to know but no one ever goes into a lot of detail. Thanks again
You’re welcome
