I kinda agree with Tommy about realizing that money isn't everything, when you grow up poor and now have some money. As I also develop that kind of mentality.
Hinduism considers Buddhism as a subsect of itself rather than it being a religion of its own.
The same sentiment is not shared with Buddhists. Buddhism do not see itself along with its ideology related to Hinduism at all. Hinduism is polytheism, while Buddhism is atheism. Both having different thoughts about morality, metaphysics and after life.

Actually Buddhism is not a subsect of Hinduism at all... Cause Buddhism has a various take than in Hinduism, even about the Karma, Buddhism goes to a much deeper than Hinduism. Buddhism is a total separated Dharma.
Basis of Budhism is reincarnation and Law of karma . Why do we need Budhism is impermanence , sufferings and concept of no soul 🙏🙏🙏
You know, I read Siddartha when I was in high school, and man, at the time it blew my mind.
The best quote that I liked went something like, "I have had to experience so much stupidity, so many vices, so much error, so much nausea, disillusionment and sorrow, just in order to become a child again and begin anew. I had to experience despair, I had to sink into the greatest mental depths, to thoughts of suicide, in order to experience grace".

I don’t think humans discovered there’s a right or wrong, more that religion provided a rule set that provided stability to its respective society. Like tommy said about the herd, you can’t have society if Bob is trying to eat everyone else in the village
Before Jesus and Christianity we can find many Greeks philosophers and many of then arrived to the same conclusion with different paths and school of thought. And they didn't belive in Seus and the gods. We are, and we are not nature at the same time. I don't think nature has consciousness, science and many people belive all is chaos. We are different from nature since we have consciousness, and maybe that consciousness is what tell us what's good and bad.
ngl looking at tommys twitch chat makes me more depressed and lose faith in humanity.
As humans our morals have developed over time due to pattern recognition and development. Like for example, how we have the fight or flight response when presented with a threat. This is because hunters had to run from animals that would kill them, but this was learnt over time and hard wired into humans to help us stay safe. The same with morals, like the hardwired referee of society.

@@KS-xp1od Sikhism has some similarities to Islam. It originated in a muticultural India where there were both Hindus and Muslims. There are some accounts that describe the earlier gurus of Sikhism as being inspired to reconcile the differences between Hindus and Muslims.

Most likely because he knows the most about Christianity, growing up in a majority Christian country. The more you know about any given religion, the more absurdities, contractions and outright nonsense you discover. I mean, honestly with Christianity the basic premise is pretty insane already, so you dont need to do much digging, so that might also be partially it.
Like sure: rebirth and karma and stuff is as baseless as Thor throwing thunderbolts, but man, an all-powerful all knowing creator fixing his own mistake by exploiting a loophole in his own rules by having himself be executed in a blood sacrifice so he can forgive humanity for "original sin", then resurrecting himself as a zombie carpenter who will return to enact the apocalypse is hard to top...

@@FriedrichBarb I don't think it is, especially because Tommy was raised in a society in which religion had not played a part for half a century, so I believe his views are shaped by it.
Many Asiatic religions are philosophy based and not supernatural god based. God may be an integral part of some of them, but never is the god made worth dying for, like in certain Abrahamic religions. Most of them have a deep spiritual meaning and gives a way of living sustainably. It's unfortunate certain godmen and Abrahamisation of these religions, along with people not caring to understand the deep philosophies is causing "religions" to be falling out of favour.
All life is suffering, or in recent meme culture... I guess you could say...
