Actually Siddhārtha Gautama is 28th Buddha according to Theravāda Buddhism and there is 29 Buddhas described. (Mahayana Buddhism sometimes claiming that there has been, is, and/or will be infinite number of Buddhas) This does not means they all lived in this world. In Buddhist cosmology
there are infinite number of worlds and universe. Buddhism describe the origin and destruction of the universe and then re-evolving into its present form over a period of millions of years. The Buddhism did not believe in the existence of a supreme god or creator of the universe., In Buddhism this happens naturally without the intervention of gods.
the 29 buddhas are the kind of buddhas that are able to teach the rest of the people (start a world religion) and help the normal folks reach nirvana. There are infinite other buddhas in Theravada that did not or were not able to teach the knowledge they had. Even the type of Buddhas are different, including Bodhisattvas in Mahayana
The word Buddhism or Buddha is derived from the word 'Buddhi'. It means to stay awake. Therefore, Buddhism is the philosophy of staying awake or spending time consciously.
Sangamitta Theraniya brought a part of the Maha Bodhi tree in India to Sri Lanka in the second century BC. The plant still lives in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka.and it consider as the oldest tree planted by a human on earth 🧡

Jainism did not start from Hinduism. Infact jain's are the first sraman dharshan to come out of India. It is way older than what u now call as Hinduism. It is a religion that is in exact opposite of bhraman philosophy. U can find the name of the first Jain thirthangar Rishabnath mentioned in the rig veda with great praise, which means he must have been alive around years before the creation of rig veda. I dont know from where u got this Idea that everything started from Hinduism.

@@nikhilkrishnan9, Hinduism is nothing but name others gave to cultures across Indus river. Many Hindus who believe Sativic food which I think is the same as Jain food. So, I think they were all different types of practices in this region. Some of those practices were named or their names were preserved through their strong culture and efforts. Rest lost some of their practices due to all the invasions. People who wrote history lumped them as Hinduism, which is essentially the culture of the land. This is why many call subcontinent religions under the same umbrella. And that umbrella happens to be named as Hinduism after Indus river by those invaders. This is only my conclusion with limited knowledge. I also think many of Jain practices were core practices of the entire country when our subcontinent was prosperous. Many were later forced to change to survive. What I want to say is do not separate Jainism from Hinduism when many Hindus themselves believe in Jain principles. I might be wrong in few places, please correct me.
This religious fight shows that their will be no peace until we agree that no religion is better than another. Almost all religions try to spread the idea to love yourself and others.
Every thing has similarities and differences, but it doesn’t mean they are the same, but even though they are not the same you shouldn’t complain that they are different. Doesn’t mean a religion is better because it is different

I love Cogito videos. This is a very summarized version of course, but good...if you are still curious and want to learn more, check out the documentary narrated by Richard Gere. It' informative, enjoyable, but very long. Buddhism is basically Hinduism...as it came out of Hinduism/Hindu philosophies. Siddhartha was a Hindu, not a Buddhist. Hinduism teaches to find your own path of enlightenment, back to the creator, and escape life's "sufferings". That's what Siddhartha did, sequentially discovering his own path and the birth of Buddhism. As Buddhism spread, it evolved and adapted unconventional ideas of the far east, that varied from the original Indian philosophies. Often times China and other Asian countries are revered for their Buddhist teachings instead of India...personally I feel for some westerners its more digestible than Hinduism. Enjoyed both your reactions.

Buddha never told he was the avater of lord vishnu.. and he never told he is god. He is human like us... The Buddha rejected many things in Hinduism. Like cast system and gods.. i think some Hindus wanted to stop spreading Buddhism in India.. Thats why hindus such kind of stories have been socialized in india

Some facts are not included. Prince Siddhartha left from his palles while his wife & child was sleeping.
After thousands years of the death of Buddha. Old religion Hindu build a new story Clam that Buddha was a Avatar of lord Vishnu so that's make a lot of people come back to Hindo grown back a support from people because they thought they can respect Buddha and be Hindu at the same time cause Buddha are Vishnu Avatar anyway. Some even call Buddha "Lord Buddha" and as a Thai Buddhist. That's doesn't sound right to me. He's not lord he's a great teacher

Balance is law and law means dharma
There is a misinformation in this video . It says according to theravada only monks can be enlightened. Its not true. According to theravada anyone can be enlightened. But its easy if they chose to be a monk or nun because they have very little attachemnts. And lay people (who follow buddhism and still live as ordinary people ) also can become enlightened and they have to try litle bit harder than monks because they have to balance their lay life also. Its more like a direct road and a round roads to an one single point.
