  • As this long Assassin's Creed series of mine begins to draw near a close. I figured one very important subject to compare the Assassins of the series on was dedication. Which Assassin protagonist in Assassin's Creed gave their all to the brotherhood and the cause? Which of them lived and died for the Creed?

    “How could I regret the only life I’ve ever known?” The way he said that was too good and still sends shivers for some reason. He saved his branch, AT 92!

  • @masteronmace
    @masteronmace Před rokem +31

    Besides Altair, I consider Connor more dedicated to the cause. For Ezio, joining the Assassins is honestly a simple cause for him. It’s his family, it’s where his goals lines, it’s everything he has left. But, Ezio just matures like anyone else. I mean there are times when he questions how tired he is of the endless struggle. He’s certainly dedicated but I don’t think his losses really contribute to his dedication. His family’s execution only pushed him further into the path of justice. At that point he’s just a better Arno who dedicated himself to the creed’s goals. Connor on the other hand lost a LOT and STILL continued to do what the Creed wanted even if he struggled to understand. He’s a tragic hero especially if you consider his deleted speech which shouldn’t have been deleted. I mean Connor just straight up has nobody left in his life and yet he remains quite the stoic for the Creed. Although we don’t have a lot on Connor outside the American Revolution, I’d give him credit for his undying persistence.

    Altair was the first to come to my mind when I read the title. He never gave up the creed and assassin's brotherhood even after he lost his son, wife and his role as the leader. He continued his research with the apple to further improve the brotherhood and left behind a legacy so that someone else could pass that knowledge on as he was too told for that. If he never continued his research for the rest of his life, we might not have seen many of the techniques and tools that we do today.

    As soon as I read the title, I knew that Altair was going to take this. No contest in the slightest. The man was born as an Assassin, lived as an Assassin, and died as an Assassin. He became the youngest member to achieve the rank of Master, went on to become a mentor, and made contributions to the Brotherhood that lasted for generations to come. Altair's impact, loyalty, and dedication to the Assassins is simply unmatched.

      Arno is deffo bottom of the list. Not that he didn't suffer, but his loss is small next to that of Altair, Ezio, Connor and Bayek. He never lost his people( the french are very much still there) and while he lost his dad as a young boy and his girl later, he didn't have to kill his own father for a cause that hardly served him like Connor nor did he watch his child die by his own hand like Bayek and his love for Elise or however you spell it does not compare to Ezio and Cristina.

      @@raes704 Edward only lost his best friends, and his last wife/spouse Caroline. That doesnt compare to Connor who lost both parents, and his father figure assassin mentor. Arno who lost his father, girlfriend, assassin status. Bayek who lost his son, the few people he connected with during his time as an assassin (Shadya), and later his wife Aya. Ezio who lost his father and brothers in the same day, then years later his uncle, the love of his life Cristina, amongst other things. Then there is Altair, dude saw his dad commit suicide before his eyes, dude tragically lost his first girlfriend (I forgot her name), he then lost his assassin status and had to start from scratch, then he had to endure the betrayal of his own mentor and killed him. Then after he gotten his new girlfriend turned wife Maria and settled down to have a family, the brotherhood crumbled under new leadership of his best friend. Forcing Altair to come out of retirement to kill him, which also along the way caused for the deaths of his wife and one of his sons. Then long after Altair fixes the brotherhood, hes forced to seal himself in the library with the apple so his enemies couldnt take it to where he then died in a chair.
      Thinking about it, NOBODY's sob stories compares to Altairs

    • @raes704
      @raes704 Před rokem +2

      @@ezioauditore6371 Yeah no I strongly disagree with this take, first of all Edward lost more than just his best friends and wife (A LOT more if you count Aron’s assassin status as that kind of loss) Edward came from a broken home, later on became an orphan, lost the only person that ever care about him, watched all his friends, which were his family either die, go insane, or betray him, lost yet again the only people in the planet that give a damn about him, why do you think that final scene with all his dead comrades hit that hard? Because it was like watching your entire family, your dead family, I’m sorry but he is at least at Ezio’s level, except he didn’t grow up in a loving family; Ezio saw his father and brothers die, and later his loved woman and uncle, but unlike Edward he was never truly alone, his mother, his sister, his friends were still there, while Edward only got to keep Adewale, who ended up leaving him. Connor lost his mother, the opportunity of a father and friends, so I’ll say around the same league too; Arno doesn’t at all compare to all this, he lost two father figures and a lover that didn’t truly loved him back that much, loosing his status of assassin (pretty deserved if you ask me) isn’t as hurtful as all the guilt and frustration Edward had to live on with, Bayek lost his son which to be honest has to be one of the biggest looses of any protagonist so I’ll give him that, and yes Altaïr absolutely wins the round lol, he pretty much lost everything any other assassin loose, parent, lover, friends, son etc.

      Oh that’s a good one, my money’s on Altair, especially if you caught his knowledge UP on Shay’s era so he’d know what to expect. Then again, he saw into the future with the apple so if he were to also travel to Shay’s era accidentally then it wouldn’t be a stupid idea if it showed him and memorized everything he saw from his studies.
      Altair, just because he’s the most cold and ruthless, also likely stealthiest so Shay would have a harder time IMO hunting him and finding him before Altair can strike.

    Hey, sorry to write so late after the video was released, but I've just I recently got hooked on your awesome content :)
    Loved it as always, but for once , I may disagree a little bit, while I do agree with all the detailed assessement you ranked each protagonist of the series, my definition of Most Dedicated is different.
    I agree Altair was from birth to death and beyond to a legacy of centuries a true and full assassin. His whole life was complete, and had his faire share of sacrifice, but he lead a more or less content and happy life.
    While my argument actually lies with either Connor or Bayek.
    As you put it, Connor willingly sacraficed his father and best friend to a cause he did not even understand, this is an extremely high level of dedication in my eyes.
    But Bayek, he essentially sacraficed his love, his marriage willingly to serve a greater purpose, to start the idea of the Hidden Ones what the Assassins stand for. (It was his choice, and stood by it his whole life, while temptation was there always to return to Aya, and start a new family again...in my opinion)
    Also at the time he could not even know for sure that it would work, that his cause was worthy. In my eyes that is the biggest dedication to the cause, to the Creed. Imagine willingly giving up the root of your happiness, your love, your wife... to something greater! To me maybe this is the greatest level of Dedication.

    Altair is definitely the most dedicated personally I never played the first Assassin's Creed but from what I seen this man will murder anyone doesn't matter who it is or what they are if it's for the Creed they are dying

    Most equipped assassin was Arno or the Frye twins due to timeline. If you take Shay , he's the most geared
    That man was running with a literal grenade launcher.
    Also you can do "which assassin was hypocrite or which assassin had the most intrest in public"

    I have a sugestión, how about a video on who's the assasin with the most kills (as in main targets) I'd be interesting to see the bodycount of Altair all the way to Eivor of main enemies they've assasinated

    • @docomega7862
      @docomega7862 Před rokem

      By targets, do you mean only the ones with confessions or all the targets of main quests even without confessions. For the latter I would probably choose bayek simply for the raw amount of quests in origins. But if only going with the ones with confessions, I think it would be ezio, bonefire of vanities alone gives him about the same amount of confessions as most assassins, and then there still are the rest ac 2, brotherhood and revelations

    Dedicated to the creed. I would say ezio especially after seeing how initially he was gonna leave behind his life in Italy in ac2 but dedication to the mission I would say connor he was literally a 1 man assassin brotherhood he was mentor Assassin thief planner everything even decideding his timing and targets I feel like Achilles could have been a better mentor overall especially after rogue

  • @AK_-xn1fm

    2:32 only way they could’ve shown more devotion was with a second game. They already showed throughout the game he was at least trying to somewhat understand the creed. I would kinda love to see an Ezio style treatment with him through the napoleonic wars and such.
    Also one aspect I may say I debate about is the notion that assassins need to be loyal to just the order. After all there’s a contradiction with their motto where nothing is true and everything is permitted. Which makes any free choice assassins do in a way is supported by how they see the creed. Even Bellec in Unity mentions this years and years of constant purging of assassin leadership for connected reasons.
    But yeah Altair is no doubt most dedicated. Second being Ezio.
