Come on man, it’s not the trying to hurt someone that made the nba better, it’s the hip checking, it’s the double and triple teaming, it’s the being able to breath near an opponent without it being a technical foul that t made it better. There was only on dirty team in the nba and that was Detroit. Most people hated Detroit and their ways. You are totally missing the point on the style of play then to now. Today is extremely soft but there is a style that exists that’s between the bad boys pistons and today’s powder puff league. Todays nba is similar to today’s nfl offense. You can’t touch the qb or the wrs so of course qbs and WRs are gonna put up crazy numbers compared to back them. Same with nbas offenses.
I second this. As an "old head" myself, I despised the Pistons and so did everyone else outside of the state of Michigan. NO ONE liked the prison ball the Pistons played. What us older fans liked was "physical" basketball with the hand checking and not having the officials call every little contact on the defense which created an unequal advantage for the offensive player.

Karl Malone was a horrible free throw shooter so those misses was a given. They even had to change the rules on free throws because he took so long to shoot because he was praying to himself before each shot.
