Man Carl Perkins NEVER gets his due! What a voice!
Maybe it's his blue suede shoes!
Carl was unbelievably underrated
Heck yeah! To me, he is head and shoulders above all of them standing there... and that says a bunch. Because they are a great collection of artists
The stage didn't collapse under the weight of all that talent? Wow!
Brilliant
The VERYBEST!
Wow what a song sang by Music Best
Love that comment! 😎
Johny Cash's scene takes only the talents)
About forty years ago I got to see Jerry Lee perform (at the Blue Max) in Chicago at a time when his career was tanking. I think the tickets were less than 20 bucks, and my seats were just left-center of the keyboard no more than 15 feet from him -- on the same level! The place wasn't even sold out, but Jerry blew the roof off the place, talked to us, joked with us, and took every request. None of us who were there will ever forget it -- and I bet Jerry Lee never will either ...for different reasons. When you're on top and perform like the maestro you are, no problem. But when you're in free-fall (as Jerry was at that time) and perform like you're still considered the best ever, ...well, that's what you call a REAL class act!
@greenmean1 Read the whole story sometime. You forgot the fact that Elvis had invited him over, then fell asleep and forgot he'd invited him. They were both drunk. Chit happens. Lighten up. As for what you'd have done to J.L.L. in public ...I'm LMAO. All those guys had the baddest bodyguards in history. You'd a been DOA.
@greenmean1 I just realized I've been conversing with an imbecile ...Ok, G1, rant on. I won't be reading anything else in this forum.
greenmean1 quit crabbin
go fetch your shoeshine box and shut up... cupcake...
greenmean1 Anton is right you’re an imbecile
There is more real talent on this stage than there was on the last 10 MTV Music Awards combined.
And those men grew up learning to play music in their backyards on their porches like people their generation and generations before them did. They learned from their elders and just trying for the pure pleasure of it. Back in the day, almost everyone played a musical instrument of some kind, often more than one, and the naturally gifted shined among everyone else, and with the advent of radio and then TV could become famous musicians just because they were so naturally talented as songwriters, singers, and/or musicians.
Today is 12 March ‘21 and there are 236 folks who agree with you....oops, sorry...make that 237. Yer right. Thanks ....Mac
You got to bump those numbers up, let’s say the 100 latest general music awards and lists including garbage “music”
You nailed it
Wow great talent ..who is gonna fill their shoes? Jerry Lee, Roy and Johnny I recognized. Carl Perkins threw me off.
Carl Perkins never got the opportunities the other three had, but he had boatloads of talent.
Four legends performing together like that is absolutely fantastic
I had no clue that Carl Perkins had such a beautiful Voice! The only thing I have heard. Him sing was Blue Suede Shoes! He had a great singing Voice!!
You missed out.
The longer Carl went on through the years, the better he got
Roy and Carl were wearing their championship belts that night
Elvis belts. Get it right.
@@waynegoldpig2220 It's a joke normie
@@johncolt2735 Oh I know. But they WERE copying Elvis's style at the time.
Wayne GoldPig well Elvis copied Perkins in the early years so it’s only fair
Even Dylan had his Elvis belt at this period.
I love all these guys but I like how Carl Perkins nailed this one. His voice had cool sounding ranges I thought!
Stop thinking!!
Carl Perkins oozes cool
Strange to see Carl singing without a guitar.
All these cats were Great. Another post talked about seeing Jerry Lee during his banishment. Went from large venues & tv to small clubs were ever he could get a gig. I saw him in the60s at a teen club. Maybe 100 people and he Killed it. Was one of the best shows I've seen. Still remember it. The Killer.
True
Roy 's voice could never be confused with anybody elses!
Yes and he was great in concert, sounded just like the recordings. I sat through 2 back to back concerts and i was mesmerized.
Roy had a one of a kind of voice. Never duplicated. Blessed by God.
I mistook him for Elvis all the time.
@@pamelah6431 - How?
Chris Isaak a bit.
Theses no mistaking the voice of Roy Orbison. One of greatest voices to ever exist.
Yes. I love his voice!
Mistook him for Elvis all the time...
@@pamelah6431 Roy and Elvis' voices were very different. Elvis didn't have the range that Roy had.
@@austinteutsch and yet I mistook them.
absolutely NO comparison
Carl Perkins hits a home run for the team and they are still looking for the ball !
Orbison ruled.
Everyone on that stage was a legend but Roy Orbison's voice truly dominates! There has never been another voice quite like his since. He was even better at the end of his career in the band The Traveling Wilburys!
Agree!! Loved Roy. His voice was Operatic. Think Elvis may have said that. Loved the Traveling Wilbur’s too!
@@sunnysmilessunshine4060 I also noticed that Roy's voice got -- not just better -- WAY better as he aged. Near opera quality! That's say a lot for a pop musician/singer. He was absolutely fabulous and an irreplaceable loss. I still miss him. "Black And White Night" had to be nearly his last and certainly his greatest performance of all time ...in my book.
You guys have to remember Roy Orbison was only 52 when he died....Theoretically he had barely peaked vocally. He had at least another strong 15 years left in his career had he lived... Just like Elvis he was vocally in his prime when he died and was doing things with his voice even in his worst days that he couldn't do when he was younger... Listen to Elvis sing Unchained Melody in 1977, it's incredible and he was a sick man...imagine.
Not taking anything away from Roy, but a lot of you People must not have followed Johnny very closely.
@@chado3000 I thought I was alone!! Johnny's my favourite in this line up
This is insane! I bet nobody realized at the time what it meant to have these 4 legends up on that one stage!
I'm pretty sure they did know.
There will never be another singer like Roy Orbison , I think his voice was send from Heaven :) :)
Hello Dienie, How are you doing?
This is epic! These guys, along with Elvis and Buddy Holly, created rock and roll music. There would have been no Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones etc without them.
Don't forget Woody Guthrie, who inspired them all. His autobiography's title comes from this song and he popularized it in the first place.
Don't step on my blue suede shoes.
Sister Rosetta Tharpe says "Good afternoon gentlemen".
Chuck Berry, Little Richard..
Though it may hurt..........Bill Haley and The Comets invented R&R, with Rock Around The Clock.
4 legendary singers on one stage singing " this train " holy cow. Epic. What a Priviledge to see this. UTUBE is a thousand times more interesting then ordinary TV
I'm no country music fan but this is major. It gave me goosebumps.
This group, with the possible exception of Johnny Cash, literally gave birth to rock and roll.
This is a Gospel song
You ought to try some old country music too. You will become a fan!
@@rockthebenz I already am!
It should there’s a pedophile on that stage. Those goosebumps should be from that horror
That was great! I thought that Carl Perkins might have been the weak link in this group, but his voice was incredible. What a quartet!
Yeah dude! Carl Perkins is amazing!
Jerry is because he’s strange
Roy and Carl are wearing tag team champion belts .
This song was dedicated to ELVIS (1935, Jan 8th - 1977, Aug.16th ) by John Cash at his Christmas Special 1977. /CD
First I thought, how's Carl gonna suit up against the rest then he nailed it! Carl for the win!
Notice that Jerry Lee’s upper register kicked into harmonizing right after his verse, with Johnny Cash hugging him and, in closing, Roy Orbison - it’s soo great seeing such distinct legends join together to pay tribute to Elvis! 👑 🎶
LEGENDARY! I'm 22 and SO glad to have been brought up on GOOD music. I love me some cash, perkins and ORBISON!! not too big of a fan of Jerry Lee.
Folks it doesn't get any better than this bunch of talented singers. Truely iconic entertainers. Will be hard to match their mojo in this life time!

Just found this song today and it has just blown me away!!! What an amazing group of guys and this really made me want to hear Roy Orbison sing more Gospel. Absolutely beautiful voice :) Carl Perkins has a strong voice too! Just loved it!!
Love the note Perkins hits on “ last”
I love it it too. I find it hilarious somehow, too!
It would be probably be impossible to fill a stage with this amount of pure talent in this day an age of music.
No matter how large the stage
THAT depends on who is listening. Many would be wondering who some of these singers are. Had it not been for the Traveling Wilburys, I'd never have heard of Roy Orbison--and to this day, you won't get me to pull up a Carl Perkins work.
No, there is an amazing talent in the world that goes unnoticed every day. You just wont hear any of them on the radio or Tv anymore .
Try this - czcams.com/video/of_hZoVvqaM/video.html
There was a time when lyrics were actually beautiful... moments lost in time...
Orbison best singer by far, Perkins brilliant storyteller/communicator. I want to see Guthrie’s version now!
It's amazing to think that all of these guys, this amazing talent came out of Sun Records. Then cap that off with Elvis Presley! Sam Phillips was a genius.
Awesome pack of greatest singers in one. Carl Perkins too was a great fast guitar picker. He rocked n rolled the strings but didn't get the highest like the others, he deserved with his vocal And Guitar talents!!!
They sang a gospel song that was made in 1922 and became famous in 1930 by Blues and Gospel singer Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
God bles
God blessing
Sister Tharpe wasn’t just a gospel singer, she invented Rock and Roll with her Rock lead guitar style….. lots of video here on CZcams proving that statement, look at how she played and the timeline….
@@Rick_Sanchez_C137_ She didn't invent rock and roll, and no there is not lots of video of her supporting the idea that she did. The famous black and white film clip of her is from the '60s.
Gospel should be banned, it encourages religious belief.
It's 2021 and I'm still watching this video. I've watched it so many times and I wish I could give a thumbs up each time I do. I grew up with their music and still have all the albums and 45's from each of them. They just don't make them like this any more, along with Elvis and Glen Campbell. The best of the best!
So miss Roy, grew up in the 60's loving him and his music. The Lord gave him a wonderful never to be forgotten voice. THANK YOU GOD
Old Johnny has the music in him. Notice how the music moves of his body.

Carl Perkins showed out! I wish he had made more records.
Thank god for CZcams. I would have NEVER seen this without them!
Elvis Simply the greatest artist in the universe. Charisma, vocal technique, sensuality, stage mastery. All in one artist.
Ramon Fraga Farah No songwriting or composition ability. Average guitarist, and a peaked early. Elvis is the least talented out of the four on that stage.

Smoking!!! Wish Elvis was there also. Super song and video.
This song was performed as a tribute to Elvis shortly after he died. Johnny Cash talks about it right before this video cuts in. Not sure why they cut that part out, it only adds to the beauty of it.
Wow, absolutely incredible. Four giants of music on one stage. Fantastic.
51 people missed this train and aren't bound for glory.

People can like different things. We don't all have to like what you like and the people who DON'T like what you like aren't any less "correct" in their taste than you are.
Perhaps the Thumbs Down folks are deaf and are complaining about the sign language. If you can hear, then you gotta love this video!
It is wonderful to see and hear these great performers singing together. Thank you!
Hello Shirley, how are you doing?
Carl was a cut above all the others I just never knew !
Brian I never know why some people(like you) think their preferences are truths. Actually other than Cash they all had great voices. and a lot of votes here went for Roy so just so you know you should say in your opinion not put it like a fact.
@@dorismc1712 Roy was Elvis' favorite singer. Calling him a legend is selling him short.
@Dee Dee, we each have our preferences - I personally love Johnny Cash’s voice above all the others but all four are very talented - their voices are very different and should not be compared. The music they each sang was well-suited to their individual voices and they could harmonize well when they got together and sang like they did here. Some of them had more far-reaching impact on music in the USA and across the world than others but they were each very talented musical artists so there is no need to disparage one against the other. We are lucky to have all their music to listen to and enjoy today.
A cool bunch by any standards, but Carl Perkins was the coolest of the lot!
all the comments here are so old... so, just wanna leave one from 2018 to let ya know - they will always be remembered!
Don't forget about Sister Rosetta! Love her and they sang this wonderfully!

Roy's voice is so pure. The other voices are great too, but Roy's voice had a sound like no other.
I think Roy had the best voice out of them all. They were all very talented. I love listening to all of their music.
Yes Roy's voice is so smooth and rich.
What incredible talent! I miss these ol’ voices/acts. Honest music, talent working without a lot of electronic interference, nothing but music and talent!

RIP, Jerry Lee Lewis ( 1935-2022 ). Legend.
I love seeing the killer and the man in black in the same room
Love this group and their amazing voices! If there was a time machine , I would be first in line to go back
😮 I never thought I'd see so many legends in one spot! I would have given anything to be there in person...
I was privileged to see Jerry Lee Lewis, The Killer," at a little club, The Vapors Lounge, on the Biloxi Strip back in 1967/68. I think he just showed up. He played 3-4 songs or so and set the joint on fire. People were just going crazy. I got to see Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs and BJ Thomas there at different times as well. All of them were great but Jerry Lee REALLY gave it all he had, heart & soul. He was amazing. I will never forget it. i saw him many years later at a casino in Bay St Louis and even though his career was on its downhill side, he was still giving it his all. Phenomenal entertainer.
All four of these men had amazing careers and were giants in the music industry.
Great only missing the king Elvis.
Roy ❣️ Perfection with a truly God given talent.
Hello Patricia, how are you doing?
These fine artists will go down in history forever! And many of us got to grow up to them in their heyday! 🎶
Saw Jerry Lee live and went to his house (he used to allow a tour). Didn’t get to meet him, but he was home, in the next room, TV BLARING!!!
I knew Carl Perkins wrote a lot of great songs, like Blue Suede Shoes. I did not know he had such a good, strong voice though. Great video.

Roy Orbisons voice, is like no other, fantastic.
Even Elvis said no one could croon like Roy.
I google about him as he seemed odd in appearance. It turns out he was very reclusive and his sons finished a book about him which Roy started, his wife worked on.
I have greater insight into him. He has a silky voice that is indeed beautiful!

This was from Christmas 1977. They sang this as a tribute to Elvis who had died earlier that year and as Cash explained his love of gospel and their friendship. RIP to all these legends in rock n roll heaven except Jerry Lee who is still with us. Thank you for the clip.
I only wish the clip had included the few words spoken by Cash about Elvis in the intro to this performance.
