    Spot on Dan! Most golfers I would say, try to 'Hit" the ball. This is what a rigid shaft would make you think you should do. Slinging the club on an arc, is what actually happens. The club head (weight) gathers the ball and propels it (momentum) towards the target.

    Hey Dan, I first saw your videos a couple years ago and I have been wwrking on my sling and I have gotten it to the point that I cannot hit it any better, my swing has changed completey from my post hip replacement swing. I was not able to usemy legs ver well,but my Ortho Doc said, they look good, play everyday for a few weeks and if they continue to hurt, then come back.
    The result of slinging isnthat my hips aregetting better with all the movemnet I make through a swing. Its quite amazing that once the pain was gone my legs and hips couldmake the moves i needed to clear a path for the sling to follow.
    Thank you for your golf instruction, it fits in with much of what is being taught by the best pros.

      Thx! Yes to get the pro in alignment you will notice the pelvis moves back and away as part of an efficient motion. This is natural if your intent is to sling (keep pro in alignment). If you apply leverage to the shaft to swing it, your pelvis will pull inward in support. Keep slinging the pro and most importantly SLING your club like you swing your pro!

First keeping hands low and keeping them behind the club head in start of B/S, then I'd read that I might be standing too far from the ball, which affects the flow thru.

    Very good video. I think one point that will put things together is that you have to sling the club head past the hands as you do with your pro teaching aid. Too many of us get too tied up with trying to maintain the angle or lead with the hands. Your thoughts please.... Thanks

    • @danmartingolf
      @danmartingolf  Před 5 měsíci

      Agreed. The whole motion is about slinging the club head behind you in transition so it can sling back out to strike the ball for you. This requires the timing of the motion not be interfered with by trying to use your muscles to “hold angles” and the such. A golf “sling” is much more akin to throwing the club head at the ball. This creates a natural slinging action.

  • @TheTimBryant
    @TheTimBryant Před 7 měsíci

    This is what I needed. Ive been really struggling with delivery, particularly squaring the face. It never feels like I think ive been putting way too much leverage into the shot to "compress it". While it gives a certain feel of the hand pressing down, good distance, and sometimes can score well with it, its really inconsistent and leads to a ton of blocks or hooks for over compensation of pressing the face down. The face stalls out too much with too much leverage.

    • @danmartingolf
      @danmartingolf  Před 7 měsíci

      That’s correct. The club head must freewheel into the ball as if it is connected to you by a rope! Using the shaft with direct leverage for direction or “power” causes friction to the total system and slows it down! Thx!

    I interpret slinging as when I'm at the top of my backswing the club is in a sling .When I start my downswing the club will remain in a sling(the classic lag position).The club is released due to inertia/angular momentum NOT BY CONSCIOUS HAND ACTION.
    Dan,have I got this correct??

    • @danmartingolf
      @danmartingolf  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Yes I like that image for sure. Once the club head is slung behind you close to your line of gravity, it must be left alone to extend to strike the ball for you. This requires that all parts of your body move simultaneously around your line of gravity , with all angular momentums equal and opposite at all times. It sounds complicated but it’s actually very natural as we are all wired to learn how to move with symmetry and efficiency. Thx!

      @@danmartingolf in order to sling the club on the downswing, you have to be able to turn off your arms and have loose and relaxed wrists...this is what i have been struggling with.

    • @danmartingolf
      @danmartingolf  Před 7 měsíci

      @@douglasscovil3447 it’s not quite turn off, but it’s to understand that in your total spinning system, your hands and arms shape relative to the total movements of your entire body. For most people they certainly need to stop pulling and pushing on the club. Or “have arms more like ropes” as a functional feel. For example when most people try to “lag” the club they are doing it with their arms and wrists only. The simultaneous movement of the pelvis around your line of gravity must do it’s part as well to truly get a powerful extension of the radius to strike the ball for you. It’s an act of timing that cannot be violated. . In fact your total body must balance itself because the inertia of every molecule in your body must be proportional to its relative distance from your line of gravity. This creates frictionless rotation. Sounds complicated, but we are naturally wired to discover this in all of our movements.

    • @danmartingolf
      @danmartingolf  Před 7 měsíci +1

      What we call lag is a consequence of Slinging. You must condition your body to stop trying to use the shaft to force/manipulate the club head to develop an efficient delivery. When the shaft is replaced with a rope, slinging becomes intuitive.
