  • How can I create a simple golf swing? An effortless golf swing, a golf swing that doesn't require me to think of a million things?
A few years ago I created the Catapult Method. It became an internet hit. Viewed and shared by over 2 million golfers and now used by many golf coaches around the world it will truly help you generate more accurate yards with every golf club in the bag.
When I first released the golf video ( The ORIGINAL • EFFORTLESS GOLF SWING ... ) a number of golfers said they had generated more power but weren't sure how they could apply this power to strike their irons pure. They would often hit the ground behind the golf ball or become a little erratic.
So today I will show you how the Catapult Method can be applied effectively to every club in the bag no matter your age or ability. If you are looking to hit your driver straight, improve your impact position with your irons or simply want to hit the ball further The Catapult Method is a game changer

    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On CZcams and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumbleI’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Absolutely the best type of swing for me. I' was 200 m away from the green on a par 5 which I never had before it was longest drive for women in a competition unfortunately I was beaten by just 20m ..even at my own club I'm outdriving some of the ladies who would normally have a longer drive than me.

Like the vid. Monte Scheinblum has a vid “no turn, cast drill” from 2013. In it he tells you to deliberately try and cast the club. Found it is actually impossible to deliberately cast, the body wont let you. Bit like trying to hits shank deliberately- it’s not easy.
Certainly feels more like the catapult you describe. Only works if you get the club head behind the pivot though. Makes me think much more about club head in space going back rather than wrists hinges, elbows, knees and shoulders etc etc much easier to take on the course

    • @DanielMaude

I watched this video after you posted it and had a few practice swings in the garden. Due to lock down I couldn't go to the range. Seemed like I was striking the ball well. Out of all the videos I've been watching this one stuck with me. Played yesterday. First thing I noticed was that I wasn't thinking about my swing mechanics. Just thinking about releasing the club. I can't thank you enough Danny. I hit the ball better than I ever have. I was so much more consistent and my driving was brilliant(for me). The other thing I noticed was I was finishing my swing in a great position. I can't recommend this video enough.

This is why a golf round can go from bad to worse. The bad shot creates tension. More tension creates another bad shot. The cycle repeats, with player getting ever more nervous and tense, when a relaxed swing is needed for success.

Really brilliant video, Danny. "Lets show this in action", says Danny, and plunks the ball eight inches from the pin and says, "That's a pretty good shot". Pretty good shot??? It did everything but go in!!! But it definitely illustrated the care free, catapult move, with an exclamation point! When I try this, this week, I will probably be replacing a few of the neighbors windows, along the course. :)

Probably the best bit of advice I have seen on CZcams ever. I have removed all the other videos I had saved in my library as there was something in there for every move or body position in the golf swing, too many thoughts going on! I’m so tense and stiff during the swing and struggle with over rotating in the back swing causing a flip at impact. This will hopefully help solve my issues and generate more consistency. Fantastic video Danny 👍🏻

Brilliant as usual Danny and can't wait to get back on the course to try this. You sorted out my driver (for the most part) with your tip to turn the head 30 degrees at address. You more for less sorted out my topping the fairway woods. Now for my irons, which used to be brilliant, but I seem to have lost the follow through to a full finish. I used to hit the middle of my back quite hard but now find it never happens - maybe age but I can still do a full turn on the back swing. You make it look all so easy to hit an 8 iron 160 (which is the distance the pro's at the Master's were using) with so little effort. We mere mortals can only dream but we do try.....

Danny, thank you for introducing me to the catapult swing. In your earlier catapult videos you described a “spiral” backswing, a “throwing” of the club downswing, a movement of the lead shoulder backwards thru impact and having the body turn in response to the catapult. This was a game changer for me… making the easy swing and hitting further and straighter. This video explanation seems to contradict the earlier and even encourage a lunging swing??

Grip and club face at setup will dictate direction as well (I know because I fixed my direction issues after a few lessons). Keep up the good content. And, are you letting your wrists relax? I think that their quick release creates the catapult motion (or lag).

I'm still focusing on your proper hip motion lesson, It allows me to get the club behind me as you show in this lesson and then the motion of my left hip clearing and leading the downswing gives the catapult sling. I call it swinging from the ground up because that is the feel that works for me. I do still struggle with proper plane and ball position. Thanks.

So glad I watched this video Danny, I’ve seen numerous other You Tube videos describing this “catapult method” but I just didn’t really ‘get it’. They left me wondering how is this relevant because a catapult uses stored elastic energy, and there is definitely no significant elastic energy happening in the golf swing. Your excellent video demonstrates the technique clearly and helped me appreciate that the term ‘catapult method’ is actually a misnomer because the technique uses centrifugal force and not elastic energy to produce power.A more accurate description for the technique would be the ‘Sling Method’. The term ‘catapult’ and its association with elastic energy’ had been a barrier to me understanding this technique until I watched your video. Keep up the great work Danny, you have a rare ability and gift for teaching golf. Your videos are much appreciated.

I watched your first catapult video a couple of years ago but the other mental tumblers weren't in place yet for it to fall into place. I now have a much better understanding of the general concept of the golf swing and rediscovering this lesson has been a real mental game changer for me. So far, only on the range but I find taking a couple of catapult swings prior to the shot helps me to release my tension and groove my tempo. Thank you!

Great stuff, Danny. I think the key is, as you said, is to be brave. Trusting one's swing is huge in letting go and hitting shots with power. I'll keep working on it. Thanks!!!

Another great video Danny. I am completely guilty of early release in an attempt to 'retain control', probably a slight OCD issue tbh. This vid (and the one you did last week) really confirms you need to trust the swing and let it go! As always, keep up the good work!

Great video and logic. I used to play decent golf when I was younger, but wanted to be a better and consistent ball striker. After many lessons i got WORSE! Ive always tried to shoot or pull the hands thru first, sometimes it worked but mostly not. I love the common sense feel which gets me out the "attack angle, degree of swing technical thinking which causes the tightness and horrid play. Hands leading the way via catapult feel is how baseballs are hit, hockey pucks smashed, trees axed down etc. Thanks for the common sense Danny, the body will get to where its supposed to be without being technical, CATAPULT..... awesome sir

Thanks Danny I’ve been doing last week’s lose control and loosen up drill every day in my net for an hour ! Comparing before and after videos is absolutely amazing. Gradually it’s feeling less and less out of control and more like my new normal. Today’s tip has added a bit more finessing. I’m getting addicted to the sensation of pure powerful effortless strikes as their frequency starts to increase. Lockdown has allowed me to commit to sustained structured practise thank you so much Danny this is pure gold.

Your videos are great. I find practicing this sort of stuff with very open arms, really envisioning making a full effortless rotation, leaving lots of room for my arms in downswing, and exaggerating all that in my practice swings has made my contact so much more consistent and I’m hitting it straighter too. All in all it just feels more athletic. However, I noticing I walk away from the range with some neck tightness and a little bit of back tightness (not quite soreness really) afterwards. Having been injured from golf long ago, this has me a bit concerned, any tips or recommendations for me? Things to watch out for without sacrificing the good stuff I’m getting out of these methods your videos show?
