    How do you create speed , how do you get faster and faster ?

    • @danmartingolf
      @danmartingolf Před 5 dny

      The speed is already in you - it's about learning to train your nervous system to let go! Let me pose this question: if you want to walk faster how do you do it?

  • @fredhui963
    @fredhui963 Před 11 dny

    I thought that the bigger the radius, the bigger is the speed. When one is not hinging, won’t the club head is further away from the centre and bigger radius? When one hinge, if the club head travel a longer distance and therefor bigger speed ? Is that the reason why it is further. I don’t understand the concept of having the club closer to the body and then stretch out, do not have a change of the radius of the swing? Would it result in Inconsistency?

    • @danmartingolf
      @danmartingolf Před 5 dny

      The radius must INCREASE to create sufficient acceleration of the clubhead. Therefore it must get closer to the line of gravity before extending to the ball. The more you keep the radius the same from backswing to forward swing, the less acceleration available. Thansk!

    What is your history Dan? You have different view on learning the golf swing. I'm wondering how you arrived at it. Regardz Eric

    • @danmartingolf
      @danmartingolf Před 5 dny

      I'm primarily a performance coach - performance coaches understand that changing at the action level is impossible. My approach is about changing perception and intention, which automatically changes action for the better. As far as the physics part goes, i have some incredibly awesome mentors that have taught me to see the physics of our movements on Earth as it relates in a gravitational field vs just classic Newtonian physics (which are incomplete and the whole golf instruction industry relies on them as absolute.) Also, my mother is a world class Solar Physicist too! thanks!

    • @danmartingolf
      @danmartingolf Před 5 dny

      I suppose, but if you understand that all your efficient movements are basically "weightless" in feel, then you likely arrive at some pretty clean "looking" positions.

  • @bigcroc2797
    @bigcroc2797 Před 21 dnem

    I realized that keeping my dominant right eye ( right handed) looking at low point in front of ball was greatly effecting my limited backswing, causing my over the top swing and slice, but didn't do it in practice swings, and practice swings were so much smoother and not over the top. Great video going to work on this 😊

    • @danmartingolf
      @danmartingolf Před 5 dny

      Definitely - your viewpoint on the ball can really easily corrupt your ability to get the body open enough on the backswing portion - if you can't get open enough, then there is no way to have an efficient return through the ball!

    isn't the shaft lean also caused by the wrist position at impact?

    • @danmartingolf
      @danmartingolf Před 5 dny

      The wrist position should be caused by the intent of extending the radius - if you use your wrists to lean the shaft, then it is fake and will suck energy out of the swing. Thanks!

    @DavesRabbitHole Před 25 dny

    This is something I learned the hard way over 20+ years, letting the club do its own thing rather than manipulating it and trying to add speed with my wrists arms and shoulders. The only thing my hands do now is hold on my wrists and shoulders are now just hinges.

  • @DavesRabbitHole
    @DavesRabbitHole Před 25 dny

    This has been key for me, I was always turning ok but I was also trying to muscle it with my arms and shoulders which created lots of timing issues. When I was “on” I could shoot pretty low but I was always a low angle of attack “picker” and my shots would be high draws. On a bad day I couldn’t control the low point and I’d hit it fat and thin and have a two way miss. Practicing this has enabled me to switch off my arms and synch them up to my body turn and improve my angle of attack, so although I’m using less effort my shots are carrying further and I’m getting better contact. By the way I’ve looked at a lot of different videos on lead hand swing drills and this is the best I’ve seen. Thanks.

    Great video Dan, One of my best buds is an ex college golfer who came in 2nd in the national championships' in the 80's. He still plays to a +3 in his 50's and looks like melting butter when he swings. The ball seems to fly forever and go right where he's looking. I once asked him what he is thinking when he's focused on the ball? He looked at me and simply said... What ball??? I think, maybe the point of this video. I ran into a guy who I occasionally get paired with at the range last week and his swing looked oddly like my friends. WAY different than his usual over the top heave. He was hitting awesome shots and when I asked what changed, he picked up your trainer and said this!!! He showed me a few of the drills and let me work with it. It definitely opens your eyes to some things here. I started watching your content and find it very different from EVERY OTHER online instructional site out there. They are all telling you to delay this or delay that which is why I'm in this predicament to begin with. I used to be quite good and am still, at times, very good but then I go 5 to 10 rounds wanting only to quit the game before I'm good for another two rounds. I notice in a few of your videos you talk about having to learn to swing around your wrists. What does this mean from the golfers perspective? If the ball sat at 12:00 and my hands were the center of the clock face, the club, a clock hand, would it mean as my hands are approaching the ball at say 1:00, the club would be at 1:00 and as I hit the ball, club at 12:00 and club at 11:00 directly after the strike?? Because if I were to slow my swing down I would bet that as my hands reached 11:00, the club head will still be somewhere between 1 and 2!! Sorry for the long post for a single question. and thanks for the great videos that are in effect, eye opening.

    I came across your content a few days ago and just had an amazing session at the range today. I'm not getting quite the distance I've been getting by muscling the club, but on my best swings today I was getting about 90% of the distance and literally felt like I was barely using any energy. I trust that the distance will come as my body learns how to make the move even more efficient. A huge aha moment for me was realizing a feeling of weightlessness in my hands as I transitioned from backswing to downswing. A roller coaster reaching its apex before a big free fall was the image that came to mind. As someone who has been trying for a long time to overcome my tendency to jerk at the club with my hands at the top, I was amazed at the progress I made today

  • @HolyGrailOfGolf
    @HolyGrailOfGolf Před měsícem

    Yes! The swinging centripetal weight of the arms and club are about 100 lbs. and will feel like it needs to be counter-balanced but then that same moving weight is actually used to recover your balance. That swinging weight will pull you back up and into balance. Oddly this phenomena is what causes early extension. As he said we don't see pros standing up and what he didn't say is that's because pros aren't forcing the clubhead down to the ball. Pros swing on what they see as a flat level plane that intersects the ball. When amateurs force the clubhead down to the ball the counter to that move it that they have to stand up and early extend. Excellent video, Dan!

    Hi Dan, Been watching your videos and have the pro. I'm confused. I thought you said you start down with little hip turn that goes into chest then the arms. Another video said the arms sorta get going out in from of chest, kinda back to target. Then this video says turn everything together in a non sequential pattern and it gets the clubhead working out and away from the rotation. I tried the turn everything together including shoulders and hit fantastic shots but dont know if Im just getting lucky. The everything together rotation has displaced the 'feels' of resistance. Can you please clarify?

    • @danmartingolf
      @danmartingolf Před měsícem

      Great questions!! As for my YT content, I would probably focus on only my most recent videos - basically from 2022 and on. The way that I describe the motion has evolved over time - and will continue to do so. The reality is that all physics is simultaneous. For most players, they initially will be better off if they get more open on the backswing and allow the club and arms to outrace them. This is certainly the experience of learning how to master the PRO. As you practice more and more, this will become a much more simultaneous sense of the whole body working together. If you have removed resistance in your body you are definitely on the right track!!
