Music video by Roxy Music performing Both Ends Burning. - Hudba
My favourite Roxy song. It's just sublime. The siren at the beginning of the song has got to be one of the best intros ever. They were a force to be reckoned with & had so many hits in the uk in the '70s. Well worth looking into their back catalogue too if any younger viewers are seeing this for the first time & liking it. Brilliant band!
Cool bastard. Even the backing vocalists were made a part of the extravaganza.
What back up vocalists?😒
They’re The Sirens.
They broke the mold when they formed. Forever cool ❤
The best voice for Rock/Pop ever
Mackays stabbing sax still sends shivers...and on live performances Manzaneras guitar at the end has always been....tinged with acid
Simon Artley
the finest of roxy's brief disco phase, which also gave us the glory that is "love is the drug".
I don’t know about “disco”. More like blue-eyed funk/R&B, or as Bowie referred to his own album released at the same time, in the same style… “plastic soul”. This was kind of a forerunner to a lot of those early 80’s new wave funk sounds like Duran Duran, ABC, etc.
dude! brian ferry is the coolest of the cool... pure genius.
You are correct.
Bryan Ferry is the definition of Coolness love his style and music I finley got to see Roxy music perform. One of my dreams has been fulfilled.
Extremely unique voice that resonates the early 70's but is timeless in the 21 first century
Saw him @ 73 @ the Fox Theater in Detroit just last weekend...still killing it...amazing performance!!!
@@curtc21942024 and he’s still at it, and from all accounts still fantastic live. I really need to get tickets.
Bryan Ferry is such a cool elegant mysterious superb performer with great musicians that all gel together with such perfect sound all in sync! Such passion!
Clearly, the blueprint for Duran Duran's sound.
rosemort2 ffs don’t mention the two of them in the same breath.
Yes very much so, :) also the Sex Pistols, and Japan.
@@chezdoff9926 Why not? Snob?
Prescient comment.
Yep, Duran Duran's sound is a mixture of this and the Sweet's lies in your eyes, from the same period. Listen and be convinced.
This song and the style here were the touchstones for legions of bands..You can't deny that..
Can't imagine anyone denying that which is overwhelmingly obvious other than Joe Biden & Hunter LMAO
Still a jam 45 years later
Roxy is the most eclectic of all rock groups
I bet today's music artists wish they were half as good as these guys were.Plenty of people modelled their style on Bryan Ferry's singing and never quite made it as good as he was.
The magnitude of his influence cannot be overstated. He was arguably just as innovative and influential a rock and roll frontman/vocalist as Bowie was, only far less heralded. Especially with all the new wave bands of the early 80’s. I remember so many of those singers trying SO hard to ape Bryan’s style, but all of them falling well short. He’s a true original, and just the epitome of cool.
The coolest man in music, period .
Bryan Ferry is one cool guy, love his songs still to this day, this is one of my favourites.
Country life, is a blast from the past, if you get a chance, give it a spin. Enjoy.!!
I loved Siren & it got a thrashing every Friday night acid party when it arrived with 'Wish You Were Here' in 75. Still love siren, my favorite after the 1st 3 masterpieces.
Was lucky enough to see them live in Sydney in 1975 & Eddie Jobson was magnificent. I was slightly trepidatious with Eno exiting but elated I went after the concert that I went.
@@johnmckenna8544 I couldn't get into country Life back when it came out after the 1st 3 masterpieces but I will give it another try!~
Bryan is the definition of cool
I could listen to roxy music foeverrrrrrrrrr!!!
He done some brilliant songs.
Had this played for me just last year as one of my top 5 songs on the OJ Borg radio show only last year, and he actually said he had never heard it before but really liked it, always used to go to the original Bowie/ Roxy nights where i used to live, superb music and super cool dresser
These tunes can never lose their stuff.
Dam we had it good. Feel the beauty of humanity here that's gone now.
Used to sneak into my big bruvs room to play this album in 77.A monster of a song.
The best bond song that never was
Was it supposed to be. ??
Bec it sounds like it
I actually am pretty stunned by the fact that neither Roxy Music nor Bryan Ferry have ever contributed a song to a 007 film.
Avant garde art rock band to the max !!! RM was way ahead of it's time.. Flawless and stunning come to mind.... RM influenced so many bands it's just nuts...
I have to say that Roxy Music were very much of their time, not ahead of their time. The '70's were full of so many terrific artists doing the same kinda stuff but maybe you just weren't around at the time to say that.
@@rsmith7912Agreed, and I was only 7 years old when this came out. Still, I can remember what an innovative era that was. There were new sounds, styles, and attitudes surfacing constantly. Roxy were definitely on the cutting edge of things, at least during their first run (which was about to come to a close here), but not what I’d really consider “ahead of their time”, and that’s not meant to be derogatory. They were absolutely wonderful, but they were very much a 70’s phenomenon.
This was the perfect Era for ROXY MUSIC IN 1975 and it was right on the level of Bowe's YOUNG AMERICANS when the UK adopted that Blue Soul Sound!!! I thought it was over when BRIAN ENO left the band in 1973,but you can't deny ROXY MUSIC's inventiveness!!!
Not true....since I own all the Roxy Music Albums as well as the Bowie Albums, and don't download,I know what Great music is!!!!
I'm about Music,not arguing over Dumb stuff,Tony!!!
It would have been over if Bryan Ferry had left the band.Eno leaving had no lasting affect.Roxy is way above Bowie.Bowie's major work was making it possible for Iggy to survive.
@@db3crashcoursecinema No Doubt! to both quotes!! I agree with you, it was a different era and it didn't end for them. And how great and totally awesome for the rest of us! Yes!? 👌
@@staceysnider7076..I'm still playing the Roxy Catalog right now ..Years Later..Ha,ha,ha!!!
The "sexy stewardess" backup singers is a very nice touch.
The Sirens Doreen and Jacqui, they're not on the album, only live. Pointless video when we can't hear them.
Classic Roxy circa 75 before they took a couple of years off, brilliant, nobody like them before or since
Not a big Roxy music fan But when I was 13 years old Loved Love is the Drug. However when I first heard this song, blew me away! Both Ends Burning is my Absolute Favorite song by this band Hands Down!!
... couldn't AGREE more - THIS and "Virginia Plain" !
Me too! Best tune of the 70's!
could not agree more.....😊
1😊3 I didn't hear of him till I was in my early 30s. And I'm into music.
What the

It's awesome

One of the best pieces of pop music of the 1970's.
The Best Song Ever Written!!!
Carla Harris I have an addiction for this song ..
Ok, simmer down there, killer. It’s a great song, yes. Let’s start with that.
Saw, Ferry in concert, Detroit, `77, w/best friend, photographer, Ross Marino!
Detroit which venue
Just saw him in Detroit @ the Fox Theater...still killing it @ 73!!!!
Never understood people’s fixation with David Bowie. Bowie wasn’t got to lace Bryan Ferry’s boots.
Yet they were still good friends, and Bowie even referred to Bryan as his “favorite songwriter”… but I get it. These comment sections are just breeding grounds for trolls to work on their material.
I bought this on 7 inch vinyl when it came out. It's my favourite Roxy song.
My personal favourite hit by them .
Damn, love all models alongside Bryan Ferry... the blonde is beautiful.
My late father's favourite singer. He was just crazy on him.
Absolutely one of the greatest songs of the 70’s. Extreme volume essential
Simply sublime!
How is it that he dances like a proper plum, he’s dressed like a disco G I , yet he styles it out to be as cool as a refrigerated icy cucumber ❤
Right? If you see pictures and hear the songs, you think this must be the coolest guy ever. Like Cary Grant territory. Then you see him in motion, and oh, the awkwardness! 🤣
Bryan Ferry must have had a good laugh!his hairstyle that created a generation 😂
Omg.this just blows my mind just perfect.🤗
O god so perfect!
We were rock and rollers once and Young yep perfect it still gets me going the same way as it did the first time I heard it checkout Boz Scaggs and Duane Allman loan me a dime peace sister Keep On Rockin in the Free World
LOL, yeah it sounds perfect because they're not really singing or playing...HELLO!! they're lip-syncing to the studio version my dear sorry to burst your bubble😂

Fuck Yes. Bryan Ferry - incredible.
A class apart. Just few ones can compete for music quality, but no one for style. Milestones.
Glasgow Apollo in 1973 never had a problem..........Viva Album.............just class
Bryan ferry is a mix between Conte Dracula, James bond and Oscar wilde.
This is 1000% spot on thank you
More like a coked out priest. Lol 😆
I concur!
An extremely sexy combination indeed !
Ha!
Omg just absolutely divine.x
The most self-aware cocaine/disco song of the '70's.
My father actually that he was Bryan Ferry.Best band ever ,they made him happy.!!!!!!!
Damn, girls! Shake what mama gave you!❤❤
Eddie Jobson is a great musician!
@Artrepreneur_Art I don't know about that, manzanera, Mackay & Thompson were pretty damn good players!
@@Artrepreneur_Art pathetic troll
Saw Roxy play this tune live in Manchester (UK) in 1975 it was all about the brilliant musicianship / showmanship of Eddie Jobson and Bryan Ferry's excellent delivery and charisma. Roxy soon became mainstream after Jobson's departure as he migrated to his true calling in the Progressive Rock arena. Great version of this classic tune from Siren.
+Geoff Simpson It took some time. It was after their reunion that they adopted their new sound.
To justify your statement that Roxy went mainstream as a result of Jobson leaving, how many Roxy songs did Jobson compose.
Agreed....I've always gone to the live shows more looking forward to watching Phil and Andy. But I still support Bryan's solo efforts and hope to catch him in Miami this fall.
Bryan Ferry our greatest artist who paints his pictures with rock music.
This and "Price of Love" should be mandatory on his set list at every concert ,
And keep this song at this original tempo sounds much better !
I've seen the more recent concert videos of this song and it seem too fast and rush through the set list ,
You can't relax and absorb the music like the original version ❤
Still listening to the best. 2021
As a kid I thought Roxy music was just like a John Lennon cover band. As an adult I realized how talented they were with strings of top hits Ladytron, both ends burning, dance away, love is the drug etc. The list goes on and on. Awesome!
Ultravox! Japan and Duran Duran were certainly listening and watching, as were countless others. Roxy were as big an influence as Bowie.
As far as late 70’s and early 80’s new wave bands were concerned, there probably wasn’t any other bigger influence than Roxy Music, and especially Bryan Ferry. I could see it with almost every single one of those bands in the very early days of MTV. Of course their influence was much more far reaching than just skinny tie bands, but nowhere else was it more obvious.
Saw them in New York. What a great show!!! Even got to yell, "DOWN IN FRONT!!!!" at an idiot standing up.
Are you not supposed to stand up at a Roxy Music concert?
Bryan, so fucking suave.~
Where the Hell would JAPAN's David Sylvian be without Roxy?
Here’s to Bryan! Be polite!
@@Shikta-poobah67, shove the dove.
@@ivorytower99 Guess you’re not much of a Blue Velvet fan.
This is my favorite Roxy Music song
Gotta go with the live Viva version, though...!
@@richrol58All of the versions from Viva! are superior to the studio versions, for the most part. That is arguably the most overlooked live album of the 70’s, which itself was the golden decade of the live album.
Elegancia en estado puro.
Such melody..... so cool and bizarre and beautiful... I listened to a lot of the best of best Roxy music songs on the radio in the early to mid 70s on CHOM FM..
Just Mindblowing
If I had to allow one man to burn me at both ends utterly emasculating me. Bryan gets the nod. And with a last name like Ferry…Do it!
Bryan wrote this song the morning after a particularly hot curry. True fact. 🔥
Legends.......Eno , Ferry , Manzanera.......
Eno had gone before this
*LONG* before this.
roxy music en sus mejores presentaciones , epicas !!
I would have loved to have seen brian ferry then ❤❤❤❤❤
They pretty much set the tone for the 80's. Between XTC, Talking Heads, Ultravox(!), Duran Duran, The Cars, Police, even Gang of Four and a lot of the britpop acts of the 90's and now take hints from Roxy, it's a shame that only Love is the Drug made an impression in the US... could use a little more diversity like the UK
Roxy is a mile ahead of the other bands you mentioned other than Talking Heads. Heard "My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts
? Brian Eno & David Byrne?
Avalon, both the song and the album did fairly well in the U.S., but mainly as a sleeper. I mean yes, by that time they were a completely different band, but still highly enjoyable. However I definitely agree that Americans really should broaden their musical palates a bit. There was SO MUCH more to Roxy Music than just Avalon and Love Is The Drug.
@@Shikta-poobah67my comment is 11 years old. why now?!?!
@@TJByrnesAudioVisual Why now? Because I just now read it, that’s why now. Why else? Look, not to be rude, but who cares how old your comment is? Did history somehow change or get rewritten in the last 11 years?

As much energy as ten nuclear power plants
When I discovered this album I was in a music store and got hit with the worst case of food poisoning I’ve ever had they didn’t have a Public restroom but was nice enough to let me use theirs. Long story short spareing details I was sitting on the pot and had a trash can in my lap both ends burning was playing while it was happening, I ended up buying the album that day.
This song is like so great!!
Like, totally. Fer sure.
The Golden Age of Roxy.💢
Andy wuz the music teacher at my mates comp skool..(Holland Park) Try playing it @ 1.25 speed in settings..... really amps up the performance.... I know I know ,sacrilege etc etc.... Chill.. Viva is one of my fav albums and it's only an increase in tempo
Still one of my Favorite Roxy Music songs!❤
Love this song!
I WOULD LOVE 4THIS SONG TO BE RE IGNITED , extended AND LOVED BY SOMEONE TODAY..
Legend.utter brilliance.genius music.
Bravo. Great Ferry!
I remember when Ferry played a couple songs with an eye patch and no one knew he was actually injured, it was just something he probably would have worn anyway.. lol
After Bowie popularized it with his short lived “Halloween Jack” persona, people probably thought it was just a nod to Bowie.
Ich liebe seine Songs 💓
What a groove
Class never gets old
Just divine.losing myself in this music.beautiful.
One smooooooth unit!
The base, the base, the base. Unrelenting, irresistable...and the GIRLS. Holy shit.
Ann Charter no an I know and they're not holy s*** they were just young girls having fun but soon they might be holy s***
Ann Charter one of the best I was holy then and I'm on holding now but it's nice to reminisce it's just not right to put the name holy on what was going on then these guys put it out there and them girls put it out there did a damn good job of it too it's more like sacred s*** to me
Oh boy. We got a live one here, folks… and I’m not talking about the OP.
This remains one of my all time favorite Roxy Music song, along with Ladytron
Timeless!
One of my all time favorite tunes from the 70's...not gay but this guy is a sex God on stage!
How can i pretend to be Bryan, singing along with tricky undecipherable lyrics, when you put them up two bars late every time...! Come on!
Jungle red’s a deadly shade! ❤
Fantastic killer tune...Majestic 🎸
Viva! Roxy Music
Saw live in Manchester around 1999
I can't believe it! Best
amazing, just shows what an ignorant world we live in when people talk of the genius of Duran Duran!!! I love every era of Roxy and Ferry solo stuff. The groove and vibe they had was unique.
dead on
I haven’t seen a single comment discussing anything about Duran Duran until I saw this one. Hmmm…
Roxy often don't get the credit they deserve like Bowie--who certainly was a huge influence, and having snatched Eno for his superb trilogy he really owes something to Roxy himself. I liked the sharing of styles all around.
Maybe they don’t get enough credit from the mainstream music press, but they certainly get *TONS* of credit, respect, and admiration from other bands and musicians. All the ones I know at least.
Great song.....great bassline by JG.
Had eno gone by the time this was filmed I remember Eddie jobson doing a violin solo
