Hey Gareth, needed that, thanks for a relaxing trip up one of my favorite rivers. Cheers Craig
The interaction with the family was golden
making my debut. just to let you know - we now all have rods
love ben, fi, calum and mel
Fiona Mackenzie awsome 🤙
Great fish and video Gareth - good timing with the drone shot near the end! Can’t wait to see some more backcountry videos 👌🏼
Awesome video, like always. Keep crushing it, man!
Good to see the swinging making a revisit. Awesome video as always bruh
Gareth, your vids always deliver and never fail to totally fire me up...Hope you're still guiding in a couple years because I'm going to find a way to get there......
Another great video - the B Roll is really good - miss fishing that area.
Amazing man! Love your vids! Can’t wait to get to NZ !!
Nice surprise to have a video today great as always, our season closes on Tuesday down in Canterbury till June .
Your not wrong about fishing hard this time of year. Hit it last week for sprats. Had to go back up to Vegas to nail a few lol. Good vid!
Love catching trout on the swing!
15k subscribers! keep up the good work! 🤙🤙🤙
FISH! Love the way you say that when you connect! Cheers mate
Getting better and better mate really cool intro. Great video, please could you try and include some dressing info on your flies please. I'd really love to have a go tying them. Thanks
What brand is that fly box??? Love the compartment style on the one half. Great video by the way always look forward to your videos man!
Man broke another fly rod the other day 😞
Good to see though someone’s still getting good fish
Good video like always, be keen to see some lake fishing videos in Taupo since you live there. Same with the Rotorua lakes etc
yeah bro that would be dope
Another great video. Will be any video from Twizel as well?
Were you fishing the soft hackle like a nymph with a strike indicator? Great video 👍
Very nice mate, Any of those fish in the places we fish would have been GOOD fish. lol
How do you like the q man? Just picked up a 9’5 myself, stoked to get er out on the water... cheers.
Great video mate. Nice BRCC mug you got there too. Hope you're not effected by the buy back. I'm having to surrender my Schmeisser for an estimated $800. Bought the thing for $4k lol.
Nice one man
I love that pool.
Never be sorry for the size of your fish!
I was on the Tweed yesterday and my biggest fish was the size of your smallest one. I still had a great day. Despite being on the other side of the world, your small soft hackle fly is almost identical to one I use all the time. It's a killer wet or fished dry.
Nice video. Lost a nice brown on a my own soft hackle on Thursday.
Dang hope u get home next time
Beauty rainbow there 🤙
I've seen you tap the top of your rod a couple, three times before fishing, esp w/ your pal Trippin On Trout. Is that to loosen a wet leader from sticking to it, or a good-luck ritual you use?
Gareth, I could swear I saw a tag in that trout you caught on the soft hackle. It looked like a red one on the trailing edge of the dorsal fin. Do you see it, or am I imagining it?
Hi Gareth, how often do you fish the soft hackle? Typically as an unweighted point fly, or above a bomb off a dropper?
He mate. Yep just as unweighted point fly. And I generally fish it when I have made good casts to fish with no eat or reaction. Or when I think there is definitely fish there some where and I’m not finding them with the regular flys. Hope that makes sense
Hey what fly box is that with the compartments in the one side
Conan Baus I’m curious also!
Nice video. Question, so are the rivers usually busy?
It depends on what river you go to, some are more busy than others!
Is that fly a traditional starling soft hackle? Aka “little black”
I think so yeah🤙
Would love to see what G could do with a Euro nymph setup...
It’s coming mate 🤙
really need to get my arse upto new zealand and try out its rivers :)
👍🏻
Do you have Facebook?
Yeah mate, trout hunting nz
great vid, I really enjoyed. subbed to you and look forward to more great vids! also, I started a fishing channel myself and any help and subscribers would be appreciated. tight lines.
10k views and only 300 likes ... Lol c'mon guys help like these videos
trying to explain to people why you fish haha
I wanted to know what your moral motivation is to keep fishing. I´ve been a fisherman for 20 years now and I´m also in love with trouts. But I´ll have to say that I struggle with not having a double moral. On the one hand, catch and release is keeping the population in a good state. On the other, not catching any trouts at all would keep the population in a good state as well which means the only reason u or any other fisherman does catch and release because of fun. Just fun is ( with what i actually struggle with with c & r ) in my opinion not justifyable for the suffering and a, for what it is for the trout, horrific fight for its life life in the end. I think if you are willing to let a fish suffer u may as well keep him/her as a meal to appreciate he/her was fighting for its life, instead of saying " heyyy ill catch your for my fun, go ahead just suffer a bit and i´ll let you back in the water traumatized". I just can not lie to myself that hard anymore... .
WHY dont you eat your fishes? They are more healthy than the most industrial food nowadays
