- Welcome to Ecosia Presents: Odeke Daniel is back with a video from Gulu, in northern Uganda. If you didn't watch his first video, you can do so here: • Planting a Forest with...
Go give Odeke some love on his personal CZcams channel: / @odeketown . And then do the same for our planting partners here: / @kijaniforestry5617 .
🙋🏽♀️ What is “Ecosia Presents”? Every tree-planting project we support has stories from inspiring people doing the hard work of restoring the planet. Every region we plant trees in also has talented storytellers that we want to give a platform to. These are their stories. Told by them, powered by the Ecosia community.

ECOSIA needs more attention on this planet. There must be big ECOSIA signs in every country.
For fucking real. I've been sending Ecosias content to my teachers for the past few years, and I highly recommend that anyone in school please SEND ECOSIA TO YOUR TEACHERS!!!! The first time I did it I was pleasantly surprised to see that my Science teacher decided to broadcast Ecosias videos for all her classes (and I was in Southern North America, "redneck territory") Teachers are a great way to get the word out, all it takes is an email
"No creepy ads" should be part of it 😂 Screwgle is terrifying
start by telling about ecosia to your friends & other community! also i wish ecosia would bring their shop back, i would like to buy t shirts and tote bags with their logo
We're going to have to do that ourselves. The corporate and state-controlled media will never give a fair hearing to anything that threatens their interests.
Imagine when Ecosia becomes world’s most used search engine. No more climate change 🥺

I have like 1074 trees or something
We're gonna have to spread the word ourselves.
@@jonathancooper4914 yes brother i am doing that already.
@@TheKillerdrummer007 gd stuff. Corporate and state media will never report anything that threatens their interests.
We need more videos from this guy
No better signal for that to the algorithm than to share, then 😉
I'm happy to see a video by Odeke Daniel again. I'm always trying to encourage more people to use Ecosia.
Tagging him here so he sees the love @odeketown
I appreciate ❤🙏🏾, let’s continue taking care of our planet TOGETHER!
@@odeketownkeep up the great work!
go go gadget engagement for the algorhythm
Thank you Ecosia! Glad everybody is working together and educating each other! Humanity will prosper in this way!
😍
Everything is a question of the attidude; we have to clean our minds from greedpollution; if this happens, we have a real chance for a golden/green future. Go Ecosia!
That's the spirit 🍻 Thanks for watching!
Keep planting trees people ❤🌲🌿
Amazing work! ECOSIA was hyped at the end
This is a great example of Ecosia's practical approach to woodland regeneration, which doesn't just involve rewilding but also takes into account the need for trees as an important resource. I don't consider that charcoal production should only be seen as a temporary measure before people in developing countries inevitably embrace the modern technology (whether considered sustainable or not) that is continuing to destroy our planet. Coppicing woodland to make charcoal is an ancient technology that needs to make a comeback across the planet and not just as a temporary measure. It's far more sustainable and leaves a lower carbon footprint than relying on big industry to provide us with electricity or gas, either directly or with the supply of new technology in the form of solar panels or wind turbines. The pollution produced by the manufacture of alternative energy technologies and the infrastructure necessary for their deployment is vast but often overlooked because we don't usually see it. The small amount of pollution caused by the production of Charcoal is quickly offset by its benefits as a clean and efficient fuel source that can be produced locally, and also by its potential use as biochar for soil improvement. The current model we conform to in the west of importing charcoal for barbeques from unsustainable production systems on the other side of the world is a disaster, but if we push for local sustainable production and if more of us make an effort to cook with it on a daily basis (yes even in the west), I believe this would bring enormous benefits, not only for the planet but also by teaching us the patience and deliberation that we seem to have forgotten.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Always interesting to hear your guy's points of views and see just how much knowledge you all already have about these topics!
You're onto something.
I do agree on a high level that our consumer culture (1920-2020) is destructive to nature through the impatience and social discord it creates. I don't necessarily think technology itself is the problem, rather aging, unsustainable, and most importantly stagnant technologies. Essentially, when we become mentally and morally weaker than our own technology (as we have since the late 50s early 60s), that's the biggest environmental hazard.
Great thoughts on soil restoration. And yes, we will probably need to burn less fuel for other things if we want to dedicate more to ending fossil fuels in the first place.
EDIT: another big problem is that older, more 'boring' industries are largely run by companies that engage in rent seeking rather than innovation. This has been a problem since the 80s, and has definitely made our technologies more polluting.
@@mobilityproject3485 biggest problem with tech today is how it’s made and guaranteed obsolescence.
Come on Daniel more videos please :D
Collecting charcoal in a sustainable way, as it's shown in the video is a very good idea to prevent that people destroy forests; but I believe that giving solar panels and electric stoves could reduce deforestation and pollution even more.
Thank you Ecosia for working to make a better planet!
Especially in such a sunny place!! Its upsetting they havent made use of that renewable resource
Also bio gas made from manuer (including from humans!)
Electronic material such as solar panels demand rare metals, a lot of petrol for their digging and transport, and for the fabrication of the goods. The solar panels and electric stoves would also be made far away from this people, making them depend on a system they cannot control. Charcoal and wood-based energy, as counter-intuitive as it seems, may stay the simpler, most ecologic and best solution here... And for us too, maybe ;)
Fair point, and I love your energy for real, but sustainable charcoal production helps the enviornment AND the general population of the era, providing jobs for people who may have limited education access. Plus, the materials for solar panels is probably expensive, and mining for said materials could be harmful to the enviornment (plus, you'd need specialized education to build those, thus not making as many jobs.
I think that solar panels ALONGSIDE this could be good, but not instead.
@@VindVint Charcoal only works on this low scale. If you did this even in a medium sized city air quality would be insanely bad.
Thank You for All that you are doing for our Planet Earth.... Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Namaste 🙏🏻 😊 🌈 ✌ ☮ ❤

Gracias por tu lindo mensaje y por el apoyo!
Im a volunteer from Germany working in a reforestation program (botanical garden) in the selva of Peru. Its interesting to see that the work processes of making forests is so similar in different parts of the world. I do really appreciate the efforts of ecosia helping people in the entire world, keep it up! :)
Hey! Thanks for watching and for sharing what you do. Indeed, at the end of the day, many of the methods can be transported across borders. In fact, one main achievement of our tree-planting team has been to organize online "partner learning sesions", where our tree-planting partners share their best practices that can be adopted across landscapes and soils.
Wie bist du dazu gekommen? Wo kann man sich informieren?
Great practice! Loved the Odeke addition to the Ecosia team! Hope you guys can employ more people from the countries you have projects going! :D

Good to see Odeke is back :) would be nice to see more local content creators in your videos
Hey, thanks for watching! That's the plan ✨
Woohoo Odeke Daniel is back!
Ecosia needs to find a small solar partner as well as a electric bicycle partner,
Having an electric CARGO bicycle would make commuting and hauling easier.
Small solar panel systems could provide electricity to charge batteries for the ebikes and also provide lighting at night.
Combining these resources with Ecosia planting projects would help produce a more sustainable ecosystem for the projects.
When setting up projects Ecosia should provide some ebikes and small systems for the project to use.
Such a wonderful reportage. Teamwork like this should be everywhere, especially in helping the planet. 💚🌱👭👬👫
Coppicing - cutting the stems from trees but not cutting the whole tree down. This was the way charcoal was made in Britain for hundreds of years, and there are still woodland areas called "coppices" because those woodlands were harvested in this way.
THIS is what "let's help somebody" should look like. Not this completely event-focused one-time clickbait. ❤
I love this video, perfect blend of cultural and environmental education. 🇺🇬
Thank you Ecosia for your great work, and thank you Odeke Daniel for an educational report and a positive face to go with it! You have a nice style :)
So long as the planet is doing well I'm happy 😊😊😊❤

An Odeketown production 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
Thanks for the great work
God bless you all
Beautiful! Projects which create solutions for sustainable production of products people need, this is what we need! This, not only to improve the environmental conditions in the production area, but also to prevent deforestation in natural areas. Giving more resilience to the greater ecosystem and peoples livelihood…
Beautiful update from Uganda, I'm glad to see Odeke again. If you are reading this Odeke, your way to present a story is very easy to understand while also making things interesting. Thank you for your work, gyebale ko ssebo :)

Well scripted and the narrative is top notch! Odeke Daniel did great with the voiceovers and him being from the North too and really made everyone especially the locals (natives) in the video to freely open up.
With the ongoing climate change; such stories can actually inspire all of us to fight against destroying nature and doing something about rectifying things.
Odeke is a fantastic reporter and great person! I thoroughly enjoyed this video.
Really cool stuff. Great video
Thank you Odeke Daniel. A great story well told.

Very informative, thanks
Thank you for watching!
Very good work!
Keep it ups plssss
Thank you Ecosia for finding a sustainable solution, a natural solution at that, for encouraging farmers to "Grow Your Own Firewood!"
This self reliant forestation has been the main and immensely self-protecting method in ancient "Bhaarath" (India) until revcntly.
Only when massive and relentless urbanization and consumerism spread from the West, did this system crumble.
The ancestors selected "some tree species" as "admissible firewood" and "some other tree species" as sacred and to be used for religious purposes and medicinal purposes. Some other species were dedicated to certain deities and kept as divine.
Neem, and Banyan were kept in every village temple as dedicated to "Maari" and were never cut down.
Many fast growing trees were set aside solely of the firewood use due to their easy combustion and weightlessness.
So, involving the entire communities and societies into the process of "Sustainable Forestation" is the sole solution for the future generation. As long as we rely upon the Sun for our energy needs directly or indirectly, we must keep the trees, Our Ancestors" alive for many more millennium to come.
odeke is such a great host for these videos, his energy is very contagious!
Wonderful
Thank you! Cheers!
Super nice!
Im so glad for using Ecosia since more than two years now. sometimes when I don’t find enough information I still have to switch but all in all It‘s a very nice and easy thing everyone can do
You are such cool and cute guys!
And yes of course we may remember that trees can in fact regrow ❤❤❤
How awesome
this is amazing! love yall
Thank you for these update videos they are very informative!
Coppicing is a traditional method of woodland management in the UK, it was often used to produce charcoal just like they are doing in the video. Brilliant to see it being used elsewhere to such great effect.
amazing as always🌱
great energy!
Amazing story, it's heart warming in a world of greed & destruction ❤🙏

This is some really good work being down it's not only preserving our environment but also supporting people in their communities as well so it's indeed a win win for both the environment n the people and again great work people really need to hear more about such projects for sure and this is one great way to educate them.
My bro your talent is real. The documentary is so awesome. You made me remember those days
This is a really cool project. If I remember correctly charcoal can also be used to enrich soil and improve its moisture retention
I am at 503 trees.
Well done!!
Yes, more trees......planting trees is the way forward. I have said this long time. We can re-green this planet everywhere, even deserts. Before the last large cataclysmic events on this planet, this planet was lush and green. Take Middle East, it was all green, the hanging gardens of Babylon was an actual place, it was green and lush. Europe had huge ancient forests, now we only have planted forests left, we need to take care of our planet. Thank you for sharing. Kijani is the way forward for sure. They will show up everyone from the west. Well done. ;)
The linda of video that gives us so much hope!😊
we love to hear that! 💚
Charcoal is also a useful soil ammendment. It helps to increase soil fertility. That said, it might be a good practice to produce charcoal or biochar even if it isn't needed as a fuel source anymore.
Very good to see you give jobs to local content creators too, very well produced video!
Everyone must think like this!!!
5:37 this man has some laughs and speaks facts
😍 he does
Doing God's work!
Amazing! A very creative idea that brings benefits to everyone.
I had a suspicion it would involve coppicing if Ecosia was encouraging cutting down trees. What I love about solutions like this is it shows we can practice things like timber harvesting in a sustainable way if we think outside the box a bit.
We were cheeky with the title 🫣 Thanks for watching
I like the video describing a form of farmer managed natural regeneration that has an effect similar to coppicing. These practices are doing great things in many of the countries of Africa as they continue to spread by the good results of agroforestry or forest gardens. The involvement of the younger people and showing the benefits to the farming families is excellent.
Arming the people with the knowledge and skill to safeguard their own futures is probably the best thing one could do. Great work, Ecosia team and Odeke !
Muito obrigada Ecosia, por tudo que tem feito para mitigar as mudanças climáticas e trazer dignidade aos nossos irmão de Uganda. Parabéns!
