- Introducing Ecosia Presents: Today, Odeke Daniel from Uganda in Kakumiro, where our partner, Trees4Humanity, is planting Ecosia trees that support both people and nature.
🙋🏽♀️ What is Ecosia Presents? Every tree-planting project we support has stories from inspiring people doing the hard work of restoring the planet. Every region we plant trees in has talented storytellers that we want to give a platform to. These are their stories. Told by them, powered by the Ecosia community.

It was such an amazing and an unforgettable experience with you Ecosia on this project. I had fun, but MOST IMPORTANTLY learning and being able to appreciate mother nature and what you advocate and stand for ❤🌳❤️🌳❤️🌳❤️🌳❤️🌳❤️🌳
You're a star, Odeke ✨ We had as much fun and learned as much from you in the process!
Thank you ❤️
You were brillant! Hope to see you again 💚🇺🇬
@@emistar288 Thank you ❤️
@@odeketown 🤗
What a great and more sustainable idea to have regional filmmakers covering the projects instead sending Europeans in planes around the world. I look forward for video updates like this :-)
hear hear local knowledge is the best knowledge
yes yes yesss!!
Going plastic free is absolutely something to strive for, as hard as it may be. Well done!
Helpful reduction, step by step. Amazing damage control.
This guy is fantastic. Make more videos with him :)
Wohooo 🥳 Sharing this with him right now!
I agree
Me, too!
Thanks for your support!
Amazing to see so many people passionate about saving earth.
Agreed 🙋🏻♂️
Really interesting. Love to hear from Uganda, this is great! We must strive for less plastic and more eco friendly and biodegradeable options. Rock on Ecosia and ecosians! And go Uganda! 💚🇺🇬
It has been such a pleasure participating in the creation of this video alongside Odeke and Ecosia to tell this beautiful story of the work done by Trees4Humanity. Thanks Ecosia for believing in us and supporting such a meaningful project and empowering Odeke to tell this story from his own country and grow as a filmmaker with it. Very excited with the future of "Ecosia Presents" to be able to tell more impactful stories from the hand of talented local storytellers.
After all the adventures and hard work we went through to film this, is such a beautiful experience seeing it live and shared with the rest of the world and all the Ecosians. Hope everyone enjoys it! And people can see an insight of the beautiful soul that Odeke Daniel is and support him to tell more meaningful stories. It has been amazing working together.
Thanks Ecosia for caring for the world, thanks Trees4Humanity for the work you do removing plastic from reforestation! And of course thanks Odeke for making this project so much fun and joyful. 🌱🎥
Watching this film & everyone involved in this project has delivered an inspirational sense of community & Hope for a lasting Humanity endeavor to save Mother Earth; our One World.
🌎 🙏🏼 🥰
Hi! We run a reforestation project in Colombia. We would like to tell this story in our community, but in Spanish and to people who mostly can't read (subtitles are not an option). Is there a way to get a translation for the video? It would help us a lot!
Ecosia is very important for humanity 💚 I've planted 50 trees since last month
I think Ecosia and Trees4Humanity should be using a variety of methods to replace single-use plastics. It gives other farmers choices in how they plant trees. I also like how people from the country where the trees are planted were more involved in this episode. Thanks for the great work!
Thanks Joshua, for watching & the feedback. 🌞🥰
sometimes it feels like its hard to help with climate change. especially those of us who are younger so its amazing to see so many passionate people working to save the earth. its inspiring and im hoping together bit by bit we can save the earth.
So glad to hear these videos help a bit ❤️ It *is* hard and one can easily fall into a spiral of desperation. But that's what we have this channel for, to show there's awesome stuff happening out there. In case it helps and you haven't seen it yet, we also did an episode on climate anxiety, if you think you might want to watch it some time: czcams.com/video/QCmkiA0CHuA/video.html
@@Ecosia i watched the video and it helped alot tysm for recommending it. the stuff the people working on this channel do is amazing
Avoid plastics however possible. They kill everything! Great video. Heartwarming and uplifting.
A very precious insight; thanks Odeke, thank you Ecosia. Let's walk on together the way to mother earth' heart.
💚
Lets go Uganda 🇺🇬🇺🇬
It’s encouraging to see people from around the world trying to protect our environment. It’s easy to become cynical which is why I love stories like this! 🌲🌴🏡🌳🎋
After the tragedy of the forests burning in Canada this year, it good to see trees being planted.
This seems like a great idea and I love how you showcased the benefits not only for the environment but also for the local population! It seems like often the people that are affected most by our decisions are left out of the equation. It is great to see that is not the case at Ecosia and I feel better supporting a company that really tries to do right by the people it works with! It's true that banana pods can't automatically (or ever) replace all plastic and it's great that there is work being put into finding multiple alternatives. It's also true that there is already a lot of plastic in the world and I would rather see it recycled/reused than littered around everywhere, but the most important part is that it is cleaned up and I worry that recycling it will just mean that it gets littered later on...
Thank you so much for watching and for your thoughtful comment. It's at the core of what we do to think of people AND nature, which includes the animal kingdom ✨
it is really cool to see local filmmakers tell us about ecosias projects !
Let's strive for plastic free reforestation and sustainability more and more and more and more!!! 💗 💗 💗
It was uplifting to see women empowered and showing their children how their work helps them and the Earth. Wonderful reporting for all of us who search for any good news. For some reason the corn husks wrapped around tamales 🫔 popped in my head. Nature does provide!
Keep up the good work. You will surely receive a compensation for your deeds. Blessings for the whole Ecosia team🌍
Thank you Ecosia and thanks to Odeke as well! Great carisma and video!
Odeke pode ser embaixador do Ecosia, é muito carismático!
Obrigada! Se lo comunicaremos ;) !
I think using the banana pods are a great idea for at least that part of Africa, since it benefits in various ways. For the rest of the world, maybe see if the ficus material travels well enough to ship to the other nurseries? And maybe see if a cardboard mixture could also work as a pod since I read that cardboard can biodegrade well for plants like a fertilizer-thing.
Thank you beautiful people for protecting our forest and earth. Yes! to banana pods. Down 👎and out with plastic! Much love & appreciation for all of you.We wish to hear more from you Ecosia!❤️
Great example of Win-Win 😎🙏🇩🇪
Plastic pods was something I never thought about when tree planting. Keep doing what you do best! ❤🌳
This is such an informative and interesting video. I love the work #Ecosia is doing along with its partners. Also, what an amazing group of people doing wonderful things for the planet in this video!
✨ Hey, fam! Give a warm welcome to Odeke Daniel in the channel. Make sure to follow his personal channel here on CZcams, too: ❤@odeketown ❤
I'm proud of all these wonderful people and Ecosia!💚🌱
Very important that you guys brought attention to this! Now I'm worried about the millions of plastic pods contaminating reforestation sites...
Fantastic video! Definitely plastic free! The more the community can learn from Ecosia the better! Great seeing local personalities!
Thank you so much for doing this. Great job. Gives me hope.
Interesting, thank you for sharing this with us. Please keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching, John. Glad you found it interesting!
I did 😊
It is so amazing to see new solutions arriving into the field of reforestation. Well done Ecosia for believe in the community working! I am so proud about your work! 🎉
Love your work❤❤. #Ecosia
✨ Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Saving the earth with the trees and also doing DEI the RIGHT way by having a local do the video? I dont know how I can fall more in love with this company. If I lived in Berlin I would bug you until you hired me lol
Loved the host and the video! Sustainability over convenience always.
Bring him in front of the camera more often. This video was great!
Noted!
❤❤❤
Really good ideas from Uganda, I'd like to hear more. We have to look for every good idea to avoid plastic wherever possible
I suppose places in Asia can use bamboo as pots for tree seedlings too? 👀since bamboo has been slowly replacing a lot of wood products on the market like kitchenware or some places use bamboo for scaffolding instead of metal ones due to how cheap and strong bamboo can be
Definitely a material to consider 🎋
We are all members of the human race first, everything else is secondary........living on this Good Earth. Love & Respect to the Ecosia team! 🙏
ECOSIA, you are amazing! ❤🌳 Thank you for all the incredible work you do in promoting sustainability and making a positive impact on our planet. Your recent video showcasing the use of banana leaves as an eco-friendly alternative to plastic pots was truly inspiring. It's heartwarming to see your commitment to reducing plastic waste.
I do have a question regarding the use of plastic pots, though. Have you considered exploring ways to improve their functionality, such as creating holes to address the issue of limited moisture and soil for plants? While I understand the benefits of using natural materials like banana leaves, I believe it's essential to find a balance between sustainability and practicality, especially in areas where banana leaves may not be easily accessible.
Once again, kudos to you for your dedication to innovative ideas and your tireless efforts in creating a greener future. Keep shining, Ecosia! ❤🌳
LETS GOOOOO
Hey there! Thanks for watching and for the thoughtful comment 🫶🏼 Yes, you are absolutely right, there are ways to find a balance between resources. Otherwise we'd be striving for monocultures for a specific product and that just defeats the purpose again. Also, there's no point in getting rid of existing poly pots that have already been produced. So, in short, yes, we are looking into solutions that involve more than just one way of producing those pots for saplings.
Cheers and thanks again for watching 🌳
I love you guys
🥰🥰🥰 thanks for watching
Me too 🙋🏻♂️😍
Adding an extra comment to feed the CZcams algorithm.
🥰
I liked 2 things. One, involving the local people and using the local materials to me not only is the idea sustainable but also they earn some additional income. Secondly, the film maker brought in creativity with the local community. Playing around with children, sharing a sugarcane, greeting and engaging the locals and of course Uganda's Street food "ROLEX" hahaha 😂. Awesome video 👏👏
🫶 Glado you liked it. Thanks for watching!!
I am not sure. A higher demand for banana leaves creates a higher demand for banana plants, and in order to plant them, rainforests may have to give way. A vicious circle. It is definitely a good start to reduce plastic waste but I think the search for alternatives must continue.
Hey, thanks for watching and for your comment. That's a good thought that our partners are taking into account. When it comes to the climate, there's never a silver bullet to solve anything. It's about finding that balance and that's why our partners are looking into different alternatives to plastic, so they can be combined.
permaculture makes it possible to grow banana leaves as part of a multicrop, no monoculture needed. There is plenty of space to plant new forrest or revive damaged ecosystems
good job you guys... Odeke - carry on with the good work and expand your explorations! you have a talent for communication!
talk to more people using alternativatives and ask them how they are diversifying to create enough balance that their operations can steer away, steadily, from unsustainable practises....
also!! the local community can get on more on board - be educated further, become ambassadors for new ways forward. localisation mixed with education shared from other similar projects.... it's social permaculture and it's the only way forwards. a partnership in evolution.
may all of earths blessings be upon your work and hearts - all you peoples 😍🤩😍🤩
I love that all the women are together weaving the basket for the roots. Whether it is real corn (no spray or change of it) or leaf of other type, they are really good, energy is beautiful, I have used Ecosia for years and never viewed videos yet and I so much appreciate the important details, and thought and their heart in the work they do. In this era the craftswomen and men are left without meaning in their work and plastic everywhere which cause breast cancer cause of its chemical breaking down. In the dirt or water so much chemicals and it’s no good, I really view your work as imperative
💚
💚💚
2 amazing ideas. The cheerful Ugandan dude, a local to present the story. And the plastic swapped to a biodegradable option.
You keep innovating in the right path!
Ragazzo davvero bravo dovrebbe fare più video con ecosia!!
Grazie per il tuo commento. Lo faremo notare a Odeke :)
Super 😊 Merci pour notre terre maman 💖 et bravo à vous tous pour votre travail 🙏
Always love seeing an Ecosia video in my sub box. 😃
I'd rather use banana fibre because we definitely dont want microplastics around, which will still be an issue even if we find a better use for the plastics
Thanks for watching, Emilia! Yep, that's a very good point. The question is still how to scale, but that's what our partners our on 🙌🏽 Btw, it's not just them, other partners of ours are doing similar things, also because after being inspired by Trees4Humanity. Out tree planting team hosts "network" calls with all our partners regularly, so that partners can exchange ideas, failures and suggestions.
Magnifique ! Un projet de plus merveilleux ! Bravo
#beautiful #nature #planet #love #Ecosia 🌱💚🌳
Plastic free is the best. Those banana skins are much better.
It's great to see such good ideas!
I'm glad to see what opportunities Ecosia can induce, and what are the benefits of your initiative : providing jobs to local communities, no more plastic pollution and stronger "baby trees"!
Climate changes and Earth pollution makes me so sad, your idea gives me hope 😀
Thanks for what your are doing.
Keep it up! 🌱🌿🌲
Thanks, Marie 🫶🏼 So glad these stories can give a glimpse of hope!
Definitely sustainable , there are so many solutions for our problems growing in nature.
THERE IS SO MUCH TO LEARN IN YOUR TREE UPDATES. I REALLY LIKE THIS ONE!!! Thank you so much for your work. KEEP IT UP!
❤ I'm very happy to see your actions and it's very important not to use plastic. Thank you for that and go on. Many greetings from Hamburg Eva
Danke für deinen lieben Kommentar 💚
So true that Nature has all our solutions 💗
This is wonderful!
I love the idea of different regions finding their own banana leaf equivalent! That's super cool
i loved the initiative and ingenuity that Ecosia and its partners showin this project and through the community! I would love to see hear more of the stories from you guys!
Wow, great initiative 👍🏻
Love from India 🇮🇳
Fantastic video, Odeke Daniel did a really awesome job with the video! Using plastics less is definitely important and should be done whenever possible. Keep fighting the good fight 😄🌳💚
🫶🏼
Odeke Daniel did his thing. We would like to see more of him and what’s happening in Uganda
🫶🏼 We'll let him know & worry not, there will be more of him in the channel! Thanks for watching ✨
Commenting for the video 😊
You're the best!
Definitely go with the banana pots and ficus bark fabric pots and any other things rather than plastic. Great video, really loved the local content
Love this video! Really good journalist
Great video! Keep up the good work and hopefully, more and more people start using Ecosia and be aware of the effects of excessive use of plastics. Instead of just throwing plastics, recycle it or even better, make it as useful as what was shown in this video. Kudos
Que gran idea. Muchas gracias por ella, ojala se vaya extendiendo. Lee envio un fuerte abrazo 🙏 y que sigan su gran trabajo ❤
¡Gracias, Marcos!
Thank you all for your hard work!
Produce healthy, bare root trees using air pruner boxes. Zero plastic. The lumber may have to be imported, though. As would the metal mesh on the bottom that allows the tap root to be air pruned. The boxes last years and years.
Hey there! Thanks for watching and for sharing this idea! I checked back with the tree team and they will look into this suggestion as it might make sense for some projects 🥰 However, there might be some disadvantages to the air-pruning for some types of trees. Specifically, it seems this air pruning system helps young trees to develop roots horizontally to improve their nutrient uptake. But this isn't ideal for many of the trees we plant in some of the most deserted areas in the world; these tend to be tree species that have a vertical tap root system that can grow below the soil to tap into as much of underground water as quickly as possible - precisely because we plant in really dry areas. Presumably, an air pruning system would hinder the vertical tap root system from these trees and defeat the purpose. Something to look into 🧐 Thanks so much for sharing!
First time seeing a video from Ecosia and this was really informative and fun! I'm glad to have started using the browser recently to hopefully contribute to more efforts like these
Welcome to the fam 🫶🏼 Thanks for watching. Make sure to share feedback on this and any other video, it's always enriching to hear from newcomers what else we could be talking about that resonates ✨
What a heartwarming video :)
Obrigada, Ecosia! 🌳🌳🌳🌳
Awesome !
Thanks Ecosia for everything that you are doing. See this video, with empowered woman, local workers and sustainability, that's soo amazyng and makes me feel very heartwarming. Thanks from Brazil
Thanks for watching and the lovely comment 🫶🏼
i have shared this video to my brother that majoring in agrotechnology. this can inspire him to do college practical assignments and can also help save the earth
Good luck for him.
This is awesome! 🙌
Amazing, well done Ecosia!!!
Wow, womderful way of making planet earth safe, and nice way of present it
As demand for petroleum-based fuel decreases, big oil is making huge investments in plastic to keep the industry going. Banana leaves all the way!
Fantastic project and the video is great! A very talented youtuber. Hope to see more of you
Awesome idea.!
Well done @odeketown great video….
Brilliant work in Uganda.
In the very end plastic is plastic, equal how good you use it. No one of us will see, how it becomes something different than plastic. Every material you can use, that become soil again is better.
❤Excellent identification of problem and solution- well done!
Sustainable, natural solutions are always best!
It's safe,healthy and interesting
Love this video, love the focus
I LOVE YOU ECOSIA!!!!!
ihr seid wundwebar macht unbedingt weiter.
