Ecosia has been around for 10 years. After a decade of using internet searches to plant trees, the same old questions still pop up: is Ecosia legit, how does it compare to Google and can we trust Ecosia at all?
To answer those questions and to celebrate our first ten years, we brought Ecosia’s founder, Christian Kroll, users and employees of Ecosia together. The result? The 10 most frequently asked questions about Ecosia.

Super Arbeit, die ihr da leistet! Außerdem finde ich es total beeindruckend wie Christian Kroll die ganzen Sprachen beherrscht. Ich spreche (offensichtlich) fließend deutsch und lerne noch englisch und französisch. Weiter so!
I suggest an idea: make a contest where everyone could participate (even artists), a clothing design contest, that is, each participant creates a drawing that you can add to the clothes you sell. This will allow more choices of designs and may attract more people to buy your clothes and plant more trees.
Participation in this contest could be free and all the winners could win a piece of clothing from their drawing or a trip as a volunteer to plant trees or what you want is just a suggestion. I hope you will read this message anyway you are doing incredible things, well done!

Dude. Can we all appreciate that this guy uses his mental and physical capabilities to save the world. Someone who can speak that many languages is smart enough to become a millionaire and live a rich and wealthy life with a great career. Instead he chose to make this world a better place with trees and the joy they bring to the communities that they are planted in
i got so excited everytime he switched languages lol, code-switching is so fascinating and i'm just amazed at how he's been so busy running ecosia and still made to time to learn multiple languages

I love when people and companies make a positive impact on the environment.
Every environmental group should use the Ecosia search engine.
They do not track your searches which is important for privacy and they do good with their profits.

Why don't you offer a free baked good for every tree they plant? For instance, I believe the average searches to equal one tree is 49. So Find a way to have a customer prove they have may 49, 98, 147 etc. searches and each time they do they get a free cookie or cupcake or slice of bread from your bakery. You can hang a sign in your window that says "ask us how you can get a FREE slice of cake!" so when people enter your shop you can explain all about Ecosia. Good luck on your bakery!

Ecosia hi! Hope you are doing fine. As suggested i will put a sign and make an small gift to ecosia local community, love the idea! But first i need you to help me out with your searching system, in Slovak language the matches are not accurate compare to french and english for exemple. Why is that? Do you have a way to improve that? Thanks

I am a somewhat new ecosia user, but when i sat down and looked over it. I concluded that it is the easiest way to join a movement to change the course of the world. So I only use ecosia now and it's really nice to know that the money is making a difference. So thank you so much for making ecosia a reality.
Been using Ecosia for about 2 years, never going back to google. I like that my searches go towards planting trees and saving rainforests
everyone should know that we NEED this thing going now. Everyone should know that searching things is way easier then paying money so why not just click a few buttons and BOOM your planting trees. The world is changing, we need to do this before things go bad. My biology teacher told me a trillion trees is what it takes.
Great to see Ecosia showing it is a genuine Tree planting ‘company’. Just one thing though, that is the subtitles are in White so blends into the background, making it too difficult to read!. 🌎✊🏽🌻

Ecosia Thank you for all the great work you are doing, I’ve been following Ecosias progress for a few years now. And it gives me hope seeing places like Senegal, Ethiopia etc cooling their local climate. Bringing back Wells and streams, and working with local people so they can make a good living from the reforestation projects combined with ‘Food Forests’, which is exactly what is needed! 🌎✊🏽🌻
I truly appreciate everything Ecosia does as an organization and all the people working there!! Thank you all so much, and thank you Christian for being so transparent and willing to connect with the community you have created! I can't wait to see how far this project can go. I also really love the idea of looking at a 'non-profit' business model as a 'purpose company' model, I think it's important to take out the idea of capitalism and focus on what the actual mission of the company is supposed to be, especially when the company is doing such great work as this!

I also have a tough question. I asked that myself a long time already.
Some of my friends doubt that you spend that money on trees. Maybe in the past more than now, but they're not really informed about you. Things like your financial reports are not good enough as proof for them, because YOU release them and could, therefore, fake it and deceive your users. Is there a third party way that proves your legitimacy? Is the B Corp website a trustworthy way to prove that, or asking your tree planting partner's? Or a financial institution in Germany, or the organisation that holds your shares?

I swear this is so simple but so GOOD
One thing I would love to see in the Ecosia search results is top web page summaries. For instance, when you search on Google for a person a Wikipedia summary of the person will show up. Same thing if you search for a business, without having to click into any of the websites you can see a general summary of the business like business hours, phone number and address. That's one of the only things I still use Google for. Otherwise, Ecosia all the way!

You could make a system where we could watch commercials (like Tipeee or Utip) to bring an extra background to plant trees.

I simply wanted to add something which I though is interesting (concerning question 6): I am using BOTH google and ecosia to provide DIFFERENT results...
