Blackstrap molasses is considered a hidden gem for our health. Not only is it overlooked as being beneficial for us, but many individuals have not been introduced to this wonderful product. When the sugar cane plant is processed to make refined white sugar, blackstrap molasses is the thick, dark syrup that is left over. Important for our health, this molasses is what contains all of the vitamins, minerals and nutrients of the plant, but is left behind in the refining process. Lets discuss some of the health benefits that can be provided for those individuals who use blackstrap molasses.
    1. First, blackstrap molasses is a great source of nutrition. In only one tablespoon, you can get a good amount of vitamins and minerals such as iron, manganese, potassium, magnesium, calcium and vitamin B6. It does not contain any fat, but please note that it is fairly high in sugar content.
    2. It can also help to promote strong bones and even provide some benefit for those individuals suffering from osteoporosis. For strong bones to be supported, we need good amounts of magnesium and calcium. Blackstrap molasses is a great source of calcium. As well, the magnesium found in it can help to facilitate the absorption and metabolism of calcium, leading to healthier and stronger bones.
    3. Blackstrap molasses also has great antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. The antioxidants found within it can help to fight against oxidative damage, which can bring about a number of unwanted health complications such as premature aging, high cholesterol, cognitive impairment and more. As well, its rich source of antioxidants can help to get rid of inflammation in the body and can be beneficial for those individuals suffering from rheumatoid arthritis.
    4. As mentioned previously, blackstrap molasses is a good source of potassium. This natural source of potassium is can help those individuals with high blood pressure and lessen the effects of sodium on the body. As well, as some studies have shown, the magnesium and calcium found in blackstrap molasses can also help to lower hypertension.
    5. Blackstrap molasses is a great source of iron, which makes it helpful for those with anemia and other related disorders. It can also help to prevent iron deficiency if consumed regularly and prevent symptoms such as fatigue, hair loss, anxiety and dizziness.
    6. Lastly, blackstrap molasses can help promote both healthy hair and glowing skin. The iron in this food can help prevent hair loss in both men and women and strengthen the hair. Iron also help to prevent pale and the cracking of our skin. The magnesium in blackstrap molasses also contributes to healthy skin, helping to prevent skin conditions such as acne, wrinkles and eczema while also preventing hair loss and increasing the quality of our hair.

No amount of iron can prevent anemia or deficiency. We already have too much iron that cause oxidative stress in our tissues and organs. The problem is a lack of Ferroxidase enzyme activity, that manages iron metabolism. Its supposed to be recycled and nobody need additional iron to the burden of toxic overload.

Håkon Martin Nilsen Bjerke you may have a good point as every one I know including myself that the doctors told them to take iron supplements all had very adverse effects to it. If you feel you need more natural iron in your diet than cook on cast iron skillets.
