  • Molasses is a dark, thick liquid extracted during the process of refining sugar cane into table sugar. Blackstrap molasses is obtained during the third boiling of the cane syrup and contains a unique concentration of many important vitamins and minerals left over after the sugar’s sucrose is crystallized.
It has been established for some time that our agricultural topsoil is depleted and lacking the full complement of minerals that should be there. This mineral deficiency is no light matter. It affects the crop foods we eat. Without minerals, vitamins are dysfunctional, and metabolizing them is hampered. Sugar cane roots go very deeply into the soil, often 15 feet down or more. That’s enough to bypass nutritionally depleted topsoil.
Unsulphured blackstrap molasses is the highest and most nutritious grade of molasses. It contains a much higher level of nutrients than regular molasses, especially when it comes to iron content. All the minerals and nutrients of unsulphured blackstrap molasses are in their natural, balanced form to create a bio-accessible, nutritional synergy unavailable from supplements that are not food.
The rich nutritional profile makes blackstrap molasses a highly regarded dietary supplement.
Rich in iron - Two tablespoons of blackstrap contain 13.2 percent of our RDI of iron, which our bodies need to carry oxygen to our blood cells. People who are anemic and pregnant women will greatly benefit from consuming 1-2 tablespoons of blackstrap molasses per day.
High in calcium and magnesium - Two tablespoons of blackstrap contains 11.7 percent of our RDI of calcium and 7.3 percent of our RDI of magnesium. This calcium-magnesium ratio is ideal, since our bodies need large quantities of magnesium to help absorb similarly large quantities of calcium. Both of these minerals aid the growth and development of bones, making blackstrap a good safeguard against osteoporosis and other bone diseases. The high calcium content of blackstrap suggests that it may be useful in preventing and treating colon cancer. It has also been associated with shrinking cancerous tumors.
Good for hair - One serving, two tablespoons, of blackstrap contains approximately 14 percent of our RDI of copper, an important trace mineral whose peptides help rebuild the skin structure that supports healthy hair. Consequently, long-term consumption of blackstrap has been linked to improved hair quality, hair regrowth in men and even a restoration of your hair's original color!
Safe sweetener for diabetics - Unlike refined sugar, blackstrap molasses has a moderate glycemic load of 55. This makes it a good sugar substitute for diabetics and individuals who are seeking to avoid blood sugar spikes. Moreover, one serving of blackstrap contains no fat and only 32 calories, making it suitable for a weight loss diet.
Two tablespoons of blackstrap molasses contains 18 percent of our RDI of manganese, which helps produce energy from proteins and carbohydrates. Manganese helps the body fight free radical damage to cells and DNA. It is believed to help prevent cancer and heart disease and may also slow the effects of aging.
It also contains 9.7 percent of our RDI of potassium, which plays an important role in nerve transmission and muscle contraction. Potassium is essential to improving bone density, help keep blood pressure low and supports proper carbohydrate metabolism.
Two tablespoons of blackstrap molasses contains 5 percent of our RDI of vitamin B6, which aids in brain and skin development. Vitamin B6 is needed for the immunity, the nervous system, cell formation, blood health and energy production.
It also contains 3.4 percent of our RDI of selenium, an important antioxidant. Selenium plays a key role in thyroid function, antioxidant protection, cancer prevention, cardiovascular health and inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
The best way to take blackstrap as a supplement is to mix between 1-2 tablespoons of it in a cup of warm water and then drink it through a straw. The straw helps the molasses bypass your teeth. This should be done daily, ideally first thing in the morning when you need the energy most. Some have also used this mix three times a day as a remedy for extremely poor health conditions.
Restoring or maintaining health through natural whole foods requires a sustained intake over time, but it’s still less expensive than medications or even synthetically derived supplements. And the results are real and permanent without side effects.

I always laugh when people call it a "sweetener"- I can't stand the taste of it, but use it only for health.

You're welcome! Nice recipe for the Iced Black Strap Molasses, I will have to try it. But probably without the coffee I am more of a tea drinker. It actually might work well with Green tea, oh the possibilities. I appreciate you watching my video. All the best!
